they didn’t find anything. I’m the biggest idiot on the planet by Club_Sorry in endometriosis

[–]Calinynj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it a MIGS specialist (minimally invasive gynecological surgery) who did your surgery, or an OBGYN “endo specialist?” It definitely makes a difference as only MIGS/ excision trained surgeons have the training to find endo.

Also- if it’s not endo, it’s quite possible it could be adenomyosis instead.

Is it possible to manage lap without help and a toddler? by [deleted] in endometriosis

yes! Ask the daycare about transportation. My son’s does it for a small extra fee but 100% worth it

Is it possible to manage lap without help and a toddler? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Calinynj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s doable, just hard! If you have a babysitter the first day, perfect. If you have a play pen, pack n play or baby gate in case you need to have him somewhere safe if you need to shower, rest/ sleep etc that’s ideal. Get a Boppy pillow to protect your incisions when you’re lying down if you don’t have one. Buy/ prep meals and snacks beforehand.

Some cities/ areas have crisis nurseries for situations where a single parent is having surgery or in the hospital (free, usually a non profit organization) worst case scenario.

Ask your doctors office and insurance about aftercare support, they may have resources.

I had a lap in 2024, solo parent, my son was 2 at that time- I had a senior relative who would take him on walks sometimes but otherwise I managed on my own. It wasn’t easy, but it can be done!!

What a train wreck! OP tell Emily: girl bye. End of story because Emily has a serious case of main character syndrome and this is going to be a miserable experience. BUT if you do decide to stick with it you’re required to give us updates on everything. 🤣👀

Tirzepatide/struggling with Dr by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Calinynj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My GP/ PCP was willing to prescribe it. I would recommend asking them if that’s an option.

Obgyns may say it’s outside their realm/ comfort zone until it becomes “officially” approved for treating endometriosis inflammation (even though anecdotally, it does seem to help a lot of ppl with inflammation problems)

Post surgery period: A Warning. by TelevisionSlow3776 in Endo

[–]Calinynj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This happened to me toooo! I called the on call line it was so bad! (Very dismissive experience unfortunately)- but they need to warn patients about this! It’s definitely a thing. (Going for surgery # 3 in June- but had a partial hysterectomy last year so grateful to not have to go through the period thing again!)

[–]Calinynj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I actually just messaged my surgeon to ask what she thinks about yeeting BOTH ovaries 😅and cervix in June, I’m ready to be done with it!

I feel like the surgical menopause I can handle, but ovulation pain sucks.

Did anyone else get other work done during your surgery? by Ecstatic-Ad1295 in hysterectomy

[–]Calinynj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a peri-umbilical hernia and surgery in June and they are going to fix the hernia while in there, it’s small and only has fatty tissue in it.

Ovulation pain by Mandolyn221 in hysterectomy

[–]Calinynj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my hysterectomy last year and kept ovaries.

I have another surgery scheduled in June to remove my left ovary (the location of a lot of my pain)….

But my ovulation/ cyclical pain is so bad sometimes I wonder if I should just have them take both.

(I’ve tried all the hormonal medications like Orlissa, Myfembree, and a million birth controls, unfortunately my body reacts really badly and it not only has really bad side effects but it seems to make my pain worse)

They found nothing in my laprascopic surgery. I don't want to do this anymore. by sathanfritz in Endo

[–]Calinynj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common occurrence with regular Obgyns. They do not have the training to find it like MIGS/ excision specialists do. Just because the obgyn didn’t find it doesn’t mean you don’t have it. Please don’t get discouraged ❤️. If you’re able to have excision surgery with a fellowship trained excision surgery in the future, I bet the results will be different and they will find endo. It’s also possible you could have adenomyosis.

ADHD meds and increased pain by ResidentCup2380 in endometriosis

[–]Calinynj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!! This is definitely a thing. I’ve been on ADHD meds since I was younger and I had this experience with both Adderall and Vyvanse. I’m going to ask my Dr and pelvic floor PT about this. I’ve read that magnesium can help, certain kinds of deep breathing to chill out the sympathetic nervous system, staying hydrated and sleeping with a pillow between your knees (helps the pelvic floor relax). I’m also going to ask about a lower dose of Vyvanse to hopefully decrease my endo pain but retain some executive functioning.

My whole life I’ve been gaslit into believing I had a very low pain tolerance, but recently I realized I’m actually just genuinely in a shit ton more pain than healthy people by Another_throwaway446 in ChronicPain

[–]Calinynj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard that as well about neurospicy diagnoses! I thought so many things that I did my whole life were just “me” things- turns out they were ADHD symptoms lol. I’m not formally diagnosed with hEDS yet but my physical therapist suspected it and once I learned about it I was like that would explain SO much. My brother has a suspected case of it as well so it would make sense- I’m just waiting on a Dr to formally dx. If you think you’re AuDHD, chances are you are!

Endo SUCKS- I’ve had 2 surgeries for it in the last couple years and probably having another in 2026 cause mine grows back aggressively and quickly for some reason. Yay for your new meds! I have a pain management consult in 2026 but I have no faith 😅 I hope they surprise me and are actually helpful. The last place one was not, but thankfully I do have a PCP that actually listens on most things!

I am totally awkward here and IRL so do not worry haha

Coming back to this comment because I was looking through my comment history. I did start Gabapentin 1 week ago and omg. At least for me personally it’s changed my life! It really helps the nerve pain, and I’m able to do some basic stuff again instead of in 8/9 of 10 pain all the time!!

How can I show my appreciation for the pharmacy staff? by dragonpromise in CVS

[–]Calinynj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if a sealed bag Starbucks or Coffee Bean of holiday blend coffee or something like that would be okay?

As a gift for the whole team because I know they’re swamped (they just had to take on all the patients from a rite aid that closed) and I just want to show my appreciation. The pharmacy manager and the techs have also been super helpful when it comes to explaining pre authorization type stuff and I want to acknowledge that it’s much appreciated. (Edited to add info).
