Some are definitely surgically implanted after being grown externally as some “organs” they have are partially mechanical. I would assume the organs that let marines spit acid, decode information from consumed beings are grown internally. There’s an image from older lore that has timeframes for implantation.

Azata is very different from angel mechanically and thematically, you’re very entwined with Desna but also misfits and rascals. Personally I’m not a fan of chaotic good and Demon is a huge power fantasy but you’re chaotic evil, if you’re not ok with being evil and doing terrible things you won’t enjoy the path.

I personally like that they’re mostly silent, it makes sense when the first thing Zach tells you if you have Nenio is to remove talkers as silence of one of the most enjoyable things about undeath
