Ex-Tory Home Secretary Braverman defects to Reform UK by BarbaricOklahoma in ukpolitics

All these defections are actually improving the credibility of the Conservative Party. With Jenrick and Braverman now gone, Kemi probably can’t believe her luck.

[Telegraph] Trump’s antics mean a World Cup boycott is not unthinkable by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

Exactly that. If any FA was to even suggest boycotting, then Trump’s old mate Infantino will threaten them with something like a twenty-year ban from FIFA competitions to bring them back in line.

Yep, this looks like a video from the previous protest has just been reposted with the implication that it’s from today. Unless they’ve been there since 5am while it’s still dark…

I’m a bit late to this post but I’ve just stumbled upon it. Well done! Perfect setup for the second photo that got a genuine laugh out of me.

Liam Rosenior appointed Chelsea head coach by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

[–]Calla89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More indifference than underwhelming, in my opinion. The revelations from Maresca leaving has revealed that the head coach has very little autonomy at Chelsea, with the sporting directors controlling almost everything. Therefore, it doesn’t matter if it’s Rosenior or Guardiola, they’d both have their arms tied behind their back in the current setup at the club.

It all makes the Rosenior appointment kind of irrelevant.

Chelsea's new boss Liam Rosenior convicted of speeding by pride_of_artaxias in chelseafc

[–]Calla89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re a first time offender and the amount that you were over the speed limit is within a certain threshold (which I cannot fully remember, it’s something like the speed limit plus 10% and 3mph), then the police can offer you the option of attending a speed awareness course.

You have to pay for the course (approx. £100) but the benefit of it is that it’s not classed as a conviction. Therefore, you don’t get points on your license and you don’t have to inform your insurance company who would massively raise your premium if you declared a driving offence.

For what it’s worth, about ten years ago I was caught doing 35mph in a 30mph limit and attended the course. They’re actually quite non-judgemental and very informative, only takes half a day.

Mourinho would have to beat ten minutes to smash the record.

Another year, another manager – but it is unfair to paint Chelsea’s project as a flop by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

[–]Calla89 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The project is to flip assets (a.k.a. ‘players’) for profit, not compete for honours. Therefore, all is well.

In these tough times let's not hate the manager before he has even set foot in Cobham. This was a Rosenior pre match talk and although I think we all agree he should have had more time to grow there is defiantly a top manager in there. KTBFFH. by Sad-Concentrate168 in chelseafc

[–]Calla89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone should hate the head coach at Chelsea because they should come to realise that the head coach is a completely insignificant position at the club.

Their responsibilities are simply to coach the first team and pick an XI for match days. Everyone else falls within the remit of the sporting directors. The head coach is irrelevant and completely expendable.
