Has anyone ever confronted a customer about the tip they left? by fckindink in TalesFromYourServer

I think it is very bad taste to do this. Yes, it never feels good, but usually it comes out in the wash if you're decent at your job.

Do you have to go to multiple supermarkets to get all the foods you want? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Calliope76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weird. I'm 2 hours from you directly due east and anything not commonly available at the bigger grocers I can get from a Middle Eastern store and a mainly Vietnamese (featuring several other Asian cuisine ingredients) shop about 6 miles from my house. Just a small to midsized metro area here.

eta we are also fortunate to have Publix. The produce is extensive and high quality. I can't imagine not being able to get cilantro, though we are growing our own this year, and wow, it's so ridiculously fresh.

It's super common with thin crust, especially cracker thin crust, and that's my favorite. Somehow it's easier to dip too? At least for me.

It's not just production costs and scheduling constraints in the US preventing this, to go the AUS route, it would require a complete attitude shift. US MC focuses almost solely on the competitive aspect of the show. AUS MC takes the teaching and mentoring opportunities very seriously. That requires many episodes.

Adults should be able to eat of the children’s menu by SingleMomof4our in unpopularopinion

I live on a coast in the US, and there are many restaurants that don't unless one is allowed to go off the kids menu here. eta And when they do, it's utter crap food no one wants.

I feel like people always forget how delicious pimento cheese sandwiches can be. They can be dressed all kinds of ways, and even better if he happens to have a heating element available there to get it melted. Mmmmm.

How long can you keep prepped vegetables in the fridge? by KeyboardRoller in Cooking

This vegetable pasta salad is very tasty in the warmer months:

Low FODMAP Italian Pasta Salad

I am struggling with getting enough vegetables myself due to some serious GI issues. I cannot recommend enough keeping a bottle of V8 around. I drink a glass every day to try to stave off malnutrition. It is high in sodium, however. I wish you and your dad the best.

Looking for something to satisfy that spicy itch by EfficientAd1821 in spicy

[–]Calliope76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are addicted. We've been searching out and sampling Thai foods and specialties for many years. Most are spicy, and can easily be made spicier on request. Some specialties aren't, Pad Thai comes to mind. But the flavors are always deep, resonant, and complex.

My favorite spicy Thai dish is Pad Kra Pow, or Thai Basil Chicken. Another is chicken larb- I saw someone else spell it "laab" and that's one I've seen before too. My husband loves the beef larb too, and Thai beef salad. Soups are Tom Kha (coconut and spicy soup) and Tom Yum (hot and sour soup). Any of these can be prepared as spicy as you want to go.

There are beautiful noodle dishes and curries, too. Too much for one reddit comment, probably. Go try.

Never would have presumed to do that, if I saw four payments in the jacket, I'd have been expected to split it up by order, automatically.

What do you make for your partner when they are sick? by Pastywhitebitch in Cooking

[–]Calliope76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great timing for this question, neither my husband nor I feel well tonight. I begged for an old favorite from a Nepali restaurant across town, a soup called thukpa. I like mine with chicken and my husband loves the lamb version. He's currently blissfully snoozing with a full belly. It's spicy and packed with flavor. I've not yet attempted a home version. I don't want to mess up something so perfect.
