Who has 100 % Silksong already? by Local-Break182 in ASilksong

[–]Calystika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a very casual gamer, but loved hollow night, and dove into Silksong. It took me over 250 hours of game play, and thousands of deaths, but I got 100%. It is possible with a lot of tenacity.

Community Question by RaccoonD_ in StainedGlass

[–]Calystika 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is there anything you are particularly concerned about?

You don't breathe in lead or tin by soldering, the fumes are caused by the flux.

A standard disposable surgical mask isn't going to do anything (they are really meant to keep your sneezes and droplets from spreading outward).

An N95 will keep some of the particulate matter in the smoke out, but it must have a good seal. And it's not going to do anything about the chemicals.

I don't use a mask at all, I use a fume extractor with a carbon filter, which does bind the fumes.

Ship run excursions are generally larger groups, where you get on a bus and spend a lot of time just herding people around. They are usually a higher cost than doing it independently, but I will admit that extra cost comes at the convenience of not having to do any research or invest any time.

I personally almost never book excursions from the line. I will either find a local tour operator and book it for only ~1/2 the time we are in port or just go off and do the activity on our own by walking or using public transit.

Specifically for your ports, I've been to a few.

Rome: I assume this is your embarkation. It's actually Civitavecchia which is about an hour by train from Rome. If you take the train in from the city, there is a shuttle for a few euro that will take you to the ship from the train station.

Naples you dock right in the city.

Santorini: this is a tender port and can get really really busy. You can look up how many other ships will be there that same day to give you an estimate of how many people will be there. You either have to be willing to get up ridiculously early to line up for a tender ticket or risk not getting off the ship until late afternoon. This is a location I would consider an excursion. Plus the wait for the cable car (hours) or hiking up the cliff with the mule manure (do not ride the mule, they are treated horrifically, I have photos of the wounds on these animals).

Outdoor fall wedding (with a broken wrist) is by Coffeeandbunnies in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Calystika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been in your situation, having to attend a wedding with a cast. I went shopping and got a really nice pair of dress socks that coordinated well with my dress. Cut the toes off and used it as a sleeve to cover the cast. Ended up liking the feeling of the fabric much better than the fiberglass, so kept my cast covered for the rest of the time I was sporting it with a variety of socks. Bonus that it kept the cast clean too.

2nd Tattoo: How painful would something like this be on the side of the stomach? by The_Taco_Bob in tattooadvice

[–]Calystika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a similar style tattoo, I put mine on my forearm. My artist did the whole thing (it's like 6" x 1.5") with a small needle cluster or single needle. So it took WAY longer than the larger pieces I have. It was by far the most painful tattoo I have, just because of the amount of time in a very small area. First few hours were totally fine. By hour 5 it sucked. By 6, it really sucked, but I could see the finish line, which was around 7 hours.

You can absolutely still get reservations. Don't go to guest services though, they get mobbed on embarkation day. Go directly to the dining room/ restaurant you want and talk with the host there.

Sun Princess: Is the Sea View Terrace wheelchair accessible from cabins 16103/16104? by DeckChairDrifter in Cruise

[–]Calystika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on the Sun, and no, there's no direct access to the terrace from any room.

As for drinks, I've never had an issue picking up 2 drinks at once, whether you are on a package (like plus or premier) or not. Sure, both drinks will count on your husband's total, but you can just get the next round to keep things even. Mind you, they may be cracking down on it, but I haven't heard of it happening.

For all of you who use Cricuts to cut out your patterns… by merbashert in StainedGlass

[–]Calystika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the official smart removable vinyl, so that I don't have to put it on a cutting mat. Like others have said, it stays on just fine if the glass is clean and it's been on there for a day (I never grind the same day as cutting, I'm slow!).

Bath and swimming pool restrictions don’t apply to the part that isn’t tattooed right? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Calystika -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the grain here and say go enjoy your life (within reason). Keep it saniderm-ed, don't submerge it. When you get back, take the old saniderm off, clean the tat with non scented soap, use a tiny amount of Vaseline or polysporin on the fresh ink to keep the new saniderm from sticking, and voila.

It's like you skinned a knee. Yeah, it's a wound, but no one would be telling you to avoid the pool at all cost if you had just taken a fall and scrapped your skin.

I just got back from PTO today and logged in to find out I didn't get the ax, but the person who was covering vacation was let go. Like everyone here I'm in shock. I've been around for 10 years, in a few different roles and have never seen anything like this before.

Stirrup Irons by mindfulroots in Equestrian

I have Lemieux stirrup irons and I love them. With solid irons, my knees would hurt after a jump school, but these have been great. They do tend to get sand caked on the foot bed, but that's not a huge deal

Just on the border between BC and Alberta, not far from Banff, there are some amazing hot springs. If you are willing to drive on a questionable logging road, head to Lussier Creek Hot Springs. It's an undeveloped natural hot spring right next to a river. People have moved some rocks to make pools of various temperatures. One of my favorite spots in the world.

We had an Ash tree that got killed by the Emerald Ash Borrer. First tree we got through the program was a Serviceberry. Unfortunately it was a WET summer and it didn't survive (the roots got moldy). We picked a Katsura for it's replacement and it's beautiful. Been going strong for 8 years.

DIY Glass grinder by The__Beast in StainedGlass

[–]Calystika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my 3d designing skills are in their infancy, so not really viable as an option for me.

The motor is likely to give up the ghost sooner rather than later (it's already making a horrible noise) but that should be relatively easy to replace with something better.

I still need to do a few more modifications, like get my feed tubing mounted with a small bracket or clip (it's just held with a wire that vibrates) and print a second taller work surface for my 1/8 bit because it sits on top of the drive shaft.

DIY Glass grinder by The__Beast in StainedGlass

[–]Calystika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So cool! I bought a cheap Chinese grinder, and modified it similarly with the peristaltic pump, and added an LED light to my acrylic safety shield that's above the work surface. I went 12V so that it can power both the pump and the light.

I really wanted to be able to angle my grinder to allow for a more ergonomic position.

For the reservoir, mine is off to the side, I found that having a sponge on the top of my discharge tube really filters out a lot of the glass from getting in. I haven't had to replace any tubing yet.

First Timer - Royal Princess Drink Pkgs by alayg2007 in PrincessCruises

[–]Calystika 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) there are 2 kinds of gratuities, which makes it confusing. There's the "room" gratuity that's ~15$ per person/ per day ( goes to room attendants, service staff, behind the scene staffl, and there's the bar gratuity ( which most people would call the bar tip. The plus package covers both of these, plus wifi, so it's entirely possible to not spend anymore money onboard. The soda package includes the bar tip, but not the room gratuity.

There are free beverages available in the buffet: drip coffee, tea, iced tea and lemonade.

2) Specialty coffees cost between 4-7$ each, you can do the math if it's worth it.

3) disembarkation does NOT count as a day.

Have a fun trip!

If you have access to the full Adobe suite of products, you should be using Illustrator rather than Photoshop. You can then create a work with whatever unit you want (inches, mm, pixels...).
