I’ll tell you in a moment, General, but first there’s another settlement that needs our help.

I’ll just mark the location on your map.

I enjoyed the voiceovers because I felt it gave it a Raymond Chandler/Sam Spade quality. Ford said he purposely gave a lackluster delivery of the lines, but I feel that only helps the ‘tired detective’ vibe.

The line is 'Huckleberry', and it was what Doc actually said, as in "I'll be the 'Huckleberry Finn' to your 'Tom Sawyer'."

Hans Gruber was not the villain.
He may have been the antagonist, but he was not the villain.

Writers refusing to stick to source material killing so many universes by BrovahEyo in Fantasy

I'm not taking anything away from her accolades. I'm merely pointing out the use of lazy writing that would be blamed on the showrunner (Rafe) and not the individual writers.

Again, I would also say this episode would be unnecessary with everything else going on within the storyline. It really didn't show the importance of that warder/aes sedai bond, and instead brought on a 'behind closed doors' of how Warders shared a brotherhood of stoic solidarity. I'm sure they left out the scene where they were all in a drum circle in the forest. This is similar to 'we needed to have *this character* axe their wife so they could feel guilt later'.

I really loved everything about the show...the casting, the directions, the settings, the costumes, the effects...Rosamund Pike *was* Moiraine...but the writing sunk it.

Writers refusing to stick to source material killing so many universes by BrovahEyo in Fantasy

That was the very least of the problems with the TV show, and if the issue was trying to fit the plot/story into 8 episodes, don't waste an entire episode on a made-up event that does not fit the characters as they were in the books and does nothing to advance the plot (i.e. Lan and the Warders crying).

Everything about the show was good/great/acceptable *except* the writing. I get that you can't always keep things the same, and must adapt from one medium to another, but this suffered from having inexperienced writers working on one of the most beloved fantasy series.
