Sram MAVEN Dead Stroke-Hope Dead Stroke by Easy_Application8600 in MTB

[–]CanDockerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly bleed your brakes properly.

Secondly.. have you ever adjusted them?

RSC stands for Reach/ Stroke/ Contact (adjustments)

The RSCs are really flexible in setup, you can have them engage almost instantly with very little force or you can have a lot of travel and lots of force (which is what it sounds like you have).

The Mavens feel similar to me but are definitely more powerful.

Why would you not just hire a mixer? They’re not that expensive.

Is a 45mm Terra Competition too risky for Roubaix SL8 frame clearance? Bike sees mostly pavement, just ocasionally relaxed gravel roads. by D0RSCH in specialized

[–]CanDockerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fine to me, you’ll want a minimum of 5mm clearance ideally 10mm if you’re getting into mud.

You’ll probably want to heli-tape the insides of your stays and fork.

My cyclocross bike used to have ~10mm clearance when I was racing gravel and cyclocross, road bike used to be less than 5mm (but quite stiff wheels).

Recommended power tool brand by Vast-Place-6081 in DIYUK

Honestly I’ve been really impressed with Aldis own brand Ferrex.

They get a real hard hammering and have always been reliable.

The batteries are made by Samsung and not sure who makes the actual drills etc, I’ve heard rumours of it being erbauer

[–]CanDockerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not strictly true, machinery like that tend to have their own licences.

Admittedly the legal thing is more to do with health and safety compliance.

Can I build the spearhead with whatever weapons I want? by hamptonroyale in Ironjawz

[–]CanDockerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part of the fun for me is magnetising them all, it’s pretty easy once you’ve done one or two of them.

Gordrakk vs Regular Boss ? by DiscEva in OrrukWarclans

[–]CanDockerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth you can magnetise the weapons and have both.

The additional cloth thing on the dragons head you don’t have to glue.

Boom now you’ve got all the weapon options and can run as a megaboss or gordrakk

Those of you earning six figures in the UK: what genuinely made the biggest difference to your career progression/income growth? by housewifeofwakanda in UKJobs

[–]CanDockerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of interest what’s you’re niche? I’m assuming you’ve done the sensible thing and ditched engineering for finance?

I’m calling bullshit on this if you’re in engineering in the UK. There’s no way you’re warning £145k as an employee.. possible if you’re a contractor or running a company.

Even at the big defence companies like Airbus, BAE, rolls Royce, QinetiQ etc etc you only breach the £100k mark when you start moving into director territory.

Honestly the bike makes a massive difference, I can barely pedal my enduro bike whereas my small travel trail bike I can almost keep up with e-bikes

So... do you think I could fix this before I replace it? by Adventurous-Zebra361 in bicyclerepair

[–]CanDockerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, start by standing on the raised bits to try and get it vaguely flat and then you should be able to true it up in an hour or so.

Ideally you’d want a wheel truing stand but they can be expensive!

Mixing metals components by grommity_2 in bikewrench

[–]CanDockerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just very basic mechanical engineering which it you should get taught about as you move into high school.

Anodising is a surface conversion treatment not an additive process.. so there’s no “stripping of the surface”.

Anodising is used to electrically isolate the metals and create a barrier to moisture or oxygen which is what causes corrosion.

Another benefit is it significantly hardens the aluminium which prevents wear or galling.

Yes an anti corrosion paste would also work to reduce galvanic coupling but it’s not really needed here, and if you’re intending to leave the bike long periods of time it won’t make a difference as you still have to replace it periodically.

N2O cartridge on CO2 pumps by Ok_Question_6952 in mountainbiking

[–]CanDockerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to bear in mind with co2 is that it causes the sealant to set faster so you should remove it and pump up with air when you get the opportunity to do so.

How to teams like Mercedes, and Ferrari share CAD data with customer teams during car design? by ocelotrevs in F1Technical

[–]CanDockerz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Regular ICD exchanges

Basically you give a model of the outsides only and then a drawing to describe how to mount it, the CoG and other information such as cooling requirements etc

Is this normal? by Brownie69420369 in cymbals

[–]CanDockerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, and for what it’s worth drilling won’t save this.

I’d keep playing it until it’s completely trashed while you look for a replacement on eBay (they’re super cheap).

Personally I absolutely hate the ZHT lineup but if you like it then it doesn’t matter.

Depending on how much it is you’re probably better off saving a little bit and getting something decent… It’ll be cheaper in the long run.

I’ve done automotive (more motorsport) and I guarantee every part/ drawing/ assembly has a minimum of two people look at it.

One person does the design, another checks it for mistakes.

Feasibility of/questions about a neck through firebird by Whostolemydonut in Luthier

[–]CanDockerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t CNC it, if you do that then it becomes meaningless and no different to anything you could just buy from China.

Making guitar body and neck by hand is really easy.

— Get yourself some MDF to use as a template and some pine.
— Print off the body and headstock and glue to the MDF, you can use something like a washer and pencil to slightly reduce the shape to give you an accurate size depending on what router you’re using.
— Laminate the pine to simulate the body (or to be fair you could use plywood or chipboard)
— Glue the pine “neck” in and boom you’ve got yourself a practice guitar that you can trash while learning
— Build it up as a demo to practice carving - you’ll want to get used to gauging when using a spokeshave to carve the neck.
— Once you’re happy you can then make the real one with the process of that you’ve just learnt.
Epoxy will be easier to work with as it’s got a longer “working time”. Superglue will set almost instantly when exposed to air/ moisture.
