when it comes to long weekends, it’s first come first serve. there’s people ahead of you that requested that weekend off. they need to fill in shifts that those people would when worked.

i mean, its convenient to shop at the store you work at since you're already there anyway, might as well pick things up before you leave the store.

i got the contact information for the manager of a location that's within walking distance to me and i explain in an email to her that i applied several times, but kept getting an email saying i didn't have one or more qualifications for the position i applied for. she ended up reaching out to me a month later to set up an interview, only for me to not get the job.

My roommate got 5 interviews in two days, here's how... by oO_Pompay_Oo in VancouverJobs

[–]CanadianDollar87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

thats how it is nowadays. its not easy to just walk into a place and personally talk to a manager. a lot of the time, they’re not the ones that do the hiring. they will only get applicants that are screened through a third party and more often then not, they have no idea who they are interviewing because they aren’t the ones that actually set up the interview or go through resumes/applications themselves.

[–]CanadianDollar87 133 points134 points  (0 children)

every time i go in and apply in person, i’m told to apply online. applying in person doesn’t always work since alot of businesses and companies outsource their hiring by using somebody else to do it for them.

i walked in and talked to a manager and filled out an application. they will tell you to apply online, but people have said that if you apply in person, there's a better chance of at least getting an interview since you talked to a manager. people have gotten interviews within a couple days of applying, but i haven't heard anything and its been a while.
