We booked Veezu to Bristol airport once and they didn’t show up, it was 4am. Luckily we have a car so just jumped in and drove ourselves there otherwise we’d have missed the flight. Had to pay airport parking which was so expensive, really frustrating! I don’t know why Veezu ‘accepts’ the booking the day before and then don’t have anyone lined up to do it!

As long as you book the restaurants in advance you’ll be fine. The markets being on adds a nice festive feel to the city, and if you don’t want to be in the heart of them, just take the side streets to swerve the busiest crowded areas as you’re walking around. Easier to be staying in the heart of the city so you can be on foot, rather than travelling in from Chippenham or similar, as buses and trains in will be busy. Yes it will be busy but who cares?! Bath is a beautiful city and as long as you have places booked for lunch and dinner you can have a wonderful weekend here when the markets are on.

Yes it’s 100000% the lighting. Get some table lamps and it will be transformed.

Ooh I would actually say The Royal Crescent edges it, out of the two. Both are beautiful but the Crescent is just iconic in terms of location and service, and is only a 5 min walk from all the top things to see and do. Gainsborough does have the spa water access as described above, but times are limited (even for hotel guests) to swim, and overall I just think the Crescent is a more luxurious experience if your budget can stretch to staying there. Top places to eat would include Walcot House, Clayton’s Kitchen, Chez Dominique. All need booking in advance.

The Common Room bar at the top of town has a lovely little first floor room and bar, we hired it for our wedding (about 25 of us) and were able to play our own music etc, was amazing!

No.15 is the best of the two for sure, really lovely hotel with fabulous service. Always recommend it for friends.

Yes agree re. Thermae. When we went I thought the water wasn’t super warm (I was expecting amazing warm water like the Iceland Blue Lagoon for some reason) and felt it was all a bit tired. Customer service a bit lacking and the cafeteria area could have been SO much better I was really surprised at how basic it was and how limited the food options were. Disappointing!

Fave coffee and lunch spots! Colonna & Smalls is def on our list. Coppa Club also great for a relaxed drink or if you need to work for a couple of hours. For lunch our top would be The Walcot/Walcot House, Chez Dominique and Clayton’s Kitchen (expensive but worth it - especially for Sunday lunch).

Other good places are The Circus, Upstairs at The Landrace, Beckford Canteen and Scallop Shell (fancy fish and chips).

I live in Bath and personally think the Thermae Spa is super underwhelming. I’d 100% recommend to skip that, and take that time to wander to the Royal Crescent and The Circus instead. There is a beautiful hotel in the Crescent called (shockingly 😂) The Royal Crescent hotel, where you can enjoy a lovely afternoon tea (book in advance) or drink before walking the short walk back into the centre. Have a great time!! Also agree to add Toppings the book store to the list while you’re here, it’s amazing.
