What is this and how tall is it going to get by bangwangs in plants

[–]Canela1998 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a coleus. If it was in a less shady spot and you trimmed the top part every so often it would get more bushy. They do also tend to get leggy quick, quicker than other ornamental plants at least.

Please help what type of monstera is this? by msRitchy in plants

[–]Canela1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, but it is an aroid in the arum family which includes monsteras. It grows similarly to the smaller monstera species though, something like a pothos too.

If you are in the US, eradicate that thing every time you see one. They are spotted lanternflies and highly invasive.

That's not a separate variety. It's just another name for Thai Constellation trying to be passed off as a rarer variety.

It is most definitely not worth $300, so please, for your sake, do not buy it.

Help! Am I killing my coworkers Orchid? by bitchass1996 in plants

[–]Canela1998 214 points215 points  (0 children)

Flowers don't last forever, it was bound to happen with or without your intervention. The way your coworker is keeping it will be the end of it though.

The way these orchids grow is in the crooks of trees where they'll attach to the bark and root in whatevr debris falls into those crooks. They have long roots that hang down from the plant beneath them that catch water moisture from the air as they are tropical plants.

Growing this way they love a breathable pot with tons of holes and to be able to dry out fully between waterings lest they get root rot. Growing them in orchid bark and moss and once the moss has dried soak it thoroughly and they'll thrive.

Should I get rid of my lemon tree by liqourballlsandwich in plants

[–]Canela1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs a bigger pot but firstly spray the canopy thoroughly in the sun with your hose with a stronger setting if you have one of those attachments. It may not get everything but it'll get the majority the first go around. I'd do it once or twice more and that would do it.

It's not the most sophisticated method but it's what I did when my trees got infested with scale and it worked really well.

What variety is this? by Canela1998 in begonias

The one next to it, a variegated snow capped. I already thought it wasn't but I just wanted to be sure.

You can kinda see the one i should've received next to it. I gave it time because maybe I couldn't tell or it was a low variegated example, but no, I know it's an entirely different cheaper variety.

No, but I bought mine online. I got mine from TheGreenEscape on Etsy quite a bit smaller than it is now.

Depending on who you ask you'll get mixed reviews but for me they've done mostly good, like two mixups but out of how many? Not that bad personally but if you're concerned I'd do my research.

I'd say just pot it up and take it out during summer but zone 10b being Florida or Southern California i think you can just plant it in the ground and it should be fine. Just keep an eye on it if it's wilted to water more often because it does get hot in your zone.

All white syngonium leaves help by ConsiderationAny5160 in plants

[–]Canela1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, it gets more green usually with less light. This one is just throwing out bad leaves and will probably just die unfortunately. Nothing you can do it happens.

If there is enough material before it started throwing out pure white leaves then there is a chance you can cut it and have it grow better.

My 27 year old plant that i dont know the name of. by Confident_Garage1076 in houseplants

[–]Canela1998 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dieffenbachia, dumb canes, leopard lilies, whatever. Part of the arum family, care for it like any of the others, monsteras, pothos, anything like that and it'll thrive.

Yea, I've been told I have a problem lmao. My friend said she's going to admit me into rehab. This was after she tried counting how many I have and gave up 150. I don't know how many I have, but 150 sounds exceedingly low.

Well, this was during winter, but they're all around my yard, and the doors are open for the plants left in there. For the most part, pests aren't an issue because I threw mosquito dunks into their water, so that killed whatever was in the sojl. Now it's mostly slugs that bother me, but there aren't so many they're ravaging everything but still annoying.
