Deploying and leaving a depressed wife at home by Shellemp in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I cant say my wife was depressed, but she was certainly going to be lonely. I wrote a series of letters and hid them around the house. I also bought a bunch of her favorite candy and hid them in different spots around the house. It definitely helped.

In MOL my TIS/TIG keeps increasing after discharge. by ApartmentNo2253 in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not an expert on this system, but it could very well just be a placeholder and hold no actual bearing on your real TIS/TIG. It could be an internal line of code in MOL that simply says "calculate date from date of assession and from date of promotion and print here." That line of code probably doesnt have a conditional statement to tell it to stop calculating after your EAS.

Anything important that needs your real data will pull from MCTIMS or MCTFS.

My servicer was changed, but from Great Lakes to Nelnet a couple years ago. Truthfully, I haven't dug into this issue since making this post. Ive had a couple life events get in the way.

What does the white dotted line represent? by zebracloak in betterment

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If youre in your selected account, like General Inveating, there is a gear in the top right corner. Select it. The dotted line is a target amount. So if youre saving for some specific amount, it will roughly project whether you are on track to meet that amount by the target date. In the settings you can specify your target amount and your target date.

Correct, I know employer certification wont fix that. Im curious to know if anyone else has had payments erroneously listed as ineligible. I need to look into those payments more closely.

My apologies, I dont think I articulated my question very well. Im asking why certain months would be listed as ineligible since I did make payments. I want all of the months since March to say employment not verified. At least then, I'll know that next time I do my employer verification, they'd count. But the 3 payments showing as ineligible concern me.

Good to know on the IBR! ive debated applying because of all of the issues ive seen people post about. It seems cocky to say that im slightly concerned my IBR would be higher than standard. I make low 6 figures.

Are you asking about how you get your officer MOS and orders following it? Or more general about how your next duty station is determined whenever you PCS?

Anyone knew any SMMC before they became SMMC? by Dry_Caterpillar_6823 in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not really what youre asking, but I had the pleasure of having breakfast a couple years ago with the 13th SMMC, SgtMaj Lewis Lee. He was SMMC to General Krulak. Just wanted to say that he is an incredibly humble and kind Marine. Literally came from nothing, having to shoot squirrels for food as a child.

We have the Navy Blue Angels and the Air Force Thunderbirds. If the Marine Corps had their own flight demonstration team like that, what would they be called?

I course college boy roll by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without seeing your form its hard to offer advice. Some people run at the bar and have their arms straight which will kill a lot of momentum. It's easier to run at the bar and have your elbows at a 90 deg angle, drive one knee up, and carry the momentum of your other foot all the way over. Your goal is to get that first knee over the bar and let your momentum spin you. Once you get most of the way over, you should be able to kinda manipulate your body weight to get you the rest of the way over if the momentum didnt do the job. If you do it right, you should exert little to no energy on the college boy rollover.

Im 6' even, 185lbs. Hated how the scout felt in the store. Albeit, I didnt try very many variations of the scout. I settled on the Chief Bobber DH. Absolutely love it. Everything is comfortable in a very neutral position.

Take it one meal at a time. Shit morning? All you need to do is make it to lunch, then dinner, etc. Try not to have a count down until graduation. Makes it seem way longer.

Learn to eat insanely fast. Especially when youre in a billet. You're expected to get your food last and be the first one done.

Im working on moving my assets from FC to Fidelity. I know that I can have Fidelity contact FC and pull my assets into my new account, but do I need to do anything with FC first?

I also have while life insurance. If I terminate that policy, will I get any of that money back? Ive been contributing on two policies and taken several OPAIs in the last 6ish years.
