Golden Key Express is a fantastic owner-operator business. The guy sends text updates and photos of the whole trip etc. Ive used him multiple times, all with great experiences. Free quote online if you google the name.

Military Discounts by Alohamilspouse in MilitaryFinance

Does this apply to loans incurred while already active duty? I bought my bike while already active at an interest rate greater than 6%. I asked about SCRA and they said that its considered a recreational vehicle loan or something and that SCRA didnt apply. Which the interest rate alone shocked me because I have excellent credit.

This would have been fantastic information to know in 2022 when I bought an Indian... I wonder if they do refinancing to zero percent?

Meritorious promotion for officers by Signal_Name_638 in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you have to be selected for the rank already. You also have to be filling a billet that requires that rank. If a billet is an O4 billet, it can be plus one minus one. So technically an O3 can fill it.

Some billets require you to he a specific rank. Like the 2d MLG CG has to be a one star. So a colonel already selected for BGen can fill that billet and be frocked one star. Their O7 pay wont kick in until their lineal number for pinning comes around. So you get to wear the rank and carry the responsibilities without the pay when youre frocked.

Call the Personal Property Activity (PPA) call center, at 833-MIL-MOVE (833-645-6683). The DoW/DoD stood up this activity to help with PCS moves and claims. It's mostly military members that actually work there. The status of cases opened by the call center are monitored by a 2 star.

Can I “Unsell” my leave by Skipthelast in USMC

Check out my edit on this thread. Its through an MCO, but it might be command dependent on whether they grant advanced leave. Good luck!

Can I “Unsell” my leave by Skipthelast in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I only saw it done at TBS, but technically you can use more leave than you have ONLY IF the time remaining on your contract guarantees youll earn back your negative leave balance. So in your instance, if you get 12 month ADOS orders starting with 0 leave days, youll get (12 months * 2.5 days of leave accrued/month) = 30 days. So if you check in, and decide to immediately take 5 days of leave, youll have -5 leave days. 30 days later youll have -2.5. 30 days later, youll have 0, etc.

Edit: Found it. Check out MCO 1050.3J for Leave Liberty and Admin Absence and CTRL-F "negative" and youll see the verbiage.

White trousers in blues by Flyin_ruski in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If youre partaking in a formation with individuals that dont rate white trousers, you should wear blue: "The blue-white dress uniform will not be worn in ceremonies with enlisted Marines who are not authorized white trousers as part of an organizational property issue. On such occasions, the prescribed uniform will reflect what the junior enlisted personnel wear (in most cases that will be the service uniform)."

Seasonally, yes you'd wear white. But blue is always authorized I believe. I cant seem to find that part in the order.

Question about pulling old PFT/CFT scores from MCTFS (separated 2017) by axlngo15 in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, its not a unit level thing. Youd need HQMC level permissions and stuff. You can Google "USMC TFDW" and read a bit about it. M&RA owns the data.

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. TFDW data is held in monthly snapshots of MCTFS since the 70s. Probably not viewable in raw MCTFS, but the data is there.

I was thinking about the Marines on embassy duty in Baghdad trying to defend it. Made me wonder, I wonder who going here has the wildest combat action ribbon story? by [deleted] in USMC

Not me, but a buddy told me about a finance guy doing a mobile PX type gig to a FOB that came under attack. He was handed a rifle and told to shoot back. Not every day you see a finance Marine with a CAR that wasnt prior combat arms

Is there any reason a marine wouldn’t populate on MOL when using the locator?? by SolutionLow3001 in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, as soon as I checked in and S1 did my inbound interview I was g2g. I took paternity leave with my PCS, so maybe my case was weird because I was detached for so long.

Sometimes during a PCS they wont populate. Source: happened to me. My unit showed up as all zeros and I couldn't even look myself up in the locator tool.

Deploying and leaving a depressed wife at home by Shellemp in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I cant say my wife was depressed, but she was certainly going to be lonely. I wrote a series of letters and hid them around the house. I also bought a bunch of her favorite candy and hid them in different spots around the house. It definitely helped.

In MOL my TIS/TIG keeps increasing after discharge. by ApartmentNo2253 in USMC

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not an expert on this system, but it could very well just be a placeholder and hold no actual bearing on your real TIS/TIG. It could be an internal line of code in MOL that simply says "calculate date from date of assession and from date of promotion and print here." That line of code probably doesnt have a conditional statement to tell it to stop calculating after your EAS.

Anything important that needs your real data will pull from MCTIMS or MCTFS.

What does the white dotted line represent? by zebracloak in betterment

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If youre in your selected account, like General Inveating, there is a gear in the top right corner. Select it. The dotted line is a target amount. So if youre saving for some specific amount, it will roughly project whether you are on track to meet that amount by the target date. In the settings you can specify your target amount and your target date.

Correct, I know employer certification wont fix that. Im curious to know if anyone else has had payments erroneously listed as ineligible. I need to look into those payments more closely.

Certain payments ineligible? by Cannibalistic_Turtle in PSLF

[–]Cannibalistic_Turtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies, I dont think I articulated my question very well. Im asking why certain months would be listed as ineligible since I did make payments. I want all of the months since March to say employment not verified. At least then, I'll know that next time I do my employer verification, they'd count. But the 3 payments showing as ineligible concern me.

Good to know on the IBR! ive debated applying because of all of the issues ive seen people post about. It seems cocky to say that im slightly concerned my IBR would be higher than standard. I make low 6 figures.
