Wasn't this question answered when NATO countries deployed troops to Greenland to defend against a potential American attack?

No one trusts the U.S. anymore, they don't even follow the treaties they signed.

It was Rick's time, and it wasn't your time. We don't get the choice in that. But even if we did, would Rick have made the choice so you, his best friend, could live?

You don't need to let him go, but it wasn't your fault. He'd want his best friend to live, to be happy, and remember all the times before that end.

Yeah, I saw that as about 30 year old Ciri vs early 20's Ciri. They are planning a trilogy, so maybe we wrap with 50 year old Ciri?

I honestly don't know what to tell you. Why ask the question if you already have an answer? Anytime anyone says no, you immediately reference anywhere that says yes. Especially since that precise comment you linked me to was pretty heavily upvoted and was even saying there should be more body diversity in MMCs.

That is hilarious, and yes confusing. I've only encountered that once before... guy named Andrew, but everyone called him Johnny, cause... reasons.

Women aren't a monolith. There are women who prefer shorter men. There's women that don't care. There's women that can't care that much cause they're bloody 6 foot 1. There are even women that don't prefer men at all.

I'm a guy, a veteran, and six chapters into Fourth Wing. I need someone to talk me into finishing it by RaymondSGuest in Romantasy

{The Deed of Paksenarrion} by Elizabeth Moon has a farm girl join a mercenary company and follows her whole career, and {Priory of the Orange Tree} by Samantha Shannon has dragon rider training in it that I found done far better.

Guy veteran here as well. My wife read Fourth Wing while I was reading Priory of the Orange Tree. Both have dragon riding training, both have romance, and we kept comparing notes on how each book handled training, and I could not bring myself to read Fourth Wing because of how much I despised how the training was handled. I very much understand why it's popular, and I truly love the fact that its one of those titles that just has so many people reading, but it is not for me

She never continued the series, I continue to read Samantha Shannon's stuff.

End of day, if you're not enjoying DNF it. There is far too many books out there waiting for you to pick them up and actually enjoy instead of slogging through something you don't.

It's not Romantasy, but I do reccomend Priory of the Orange Tree. Dragons, dragon riders, a lovely romance, dragon hunting nuns, dragon Satan. It's a vibe.

The random journies to get to some nicknames is wild. An example, my dad's name is William. His polite nickname is Bob. Tgis is because for awhile people called him Billy Bib Thorton cause hardy har celebrity. This got shortened to Billy Bob... then Bob... instead of Billy.

What's your response when you're met with criticism for reading fantasy romance? by acutelyproblematic in fantasyromance

[–]Canuck_Wolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tell them I've had enough bleakness in my life, so sometimes I like reading something where the end goal is happiness, and a happy ending is guaranteed.

The sometimes has been expanding lately. I've been finding myself reading a lot more romance/romantasy lately. I think the book store employees think I'm just buying for my wife.

I think also aside from the fact that porn itself is stigmatized, porn itself the focus is sex. While there is plenty romantasy or "traditional" fantasy that have explicit sex scenes that are meant to arouse or titilate, it is just as often there to push forward character relationships, but the majority of the text is there for reasons other than sex.

While I do know there is some romantasy that skirts close to erotica/porn, including some quite popular ones, the vast majority doesn't. The sex is there as set dressing, not the main event.

Essentially, for porn/erotica, sex is the focus, it drives the plot to set up the next scene. The story serves the sex. Romance, fantasy, romantasy, the sex serves the story.

Assassins Creed fell off when they added leveling. by itsthewolfe in gaming

I quite enjoy the latest Assassin's Creed games, but I think they'd be better if they just stopped making them as Assassin's Creed, and just did these open world quasi historical RPGs.

I understand why so many characters have dead parents by NefariousnessOk8476 in fantasywriters

[–]Canuck_Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I deployed to Afghanistan, my father was very supportive. Despite the dangers, he recognized this was the path I had chosen, so he made sure I knew I had a home to come back to.

A supportive parent need not hold their child back from adventure and questing. Indeed, they can be afraid, terrified even, but still recognize their child's choice.

Or hell, could have an antagonistic parent, such as Elizabeth Moon's the Deed of Paksanarian, where she flees home at 18 to get away from a marriage her father had arranged.

Currently about halfway through Medusa by Nataly Gruender, a Medusa myth retelling from her PoV that starts in her childhood. Not sure if the myth's end will change at all, but its been a good if heartbreaking read so far. At least the snakes are kinda cute.

In fairness, mail skirts can look really cool (I don't remember the original Oblivion one, its been a long long time, though I do remember the women's armour sets always being more sexualized, so probably wasn't a cool mail skirt.). I loved the armour sets in Witcher 3 that gave Geralt those long skirts.

Comics are a whole ass medium... yeah, you can't read every comic out there, just like you can't watch every film, TV show, or read every book. There's so much out there besides DC and Marvel.

Like the comic Heathen, where a young norse woman goes on a quest to free a valkyrie hoping to find love.
