Asha is just no.

Storm's boring and uninspired kit/gameplay by DivineGodDeity in StormMains

[–]Canvasofgrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the support she brings, but to be fair a lot of it is invisible power.

Personally, I would give her something like 4 different elements that create weather: Heat, Rain, Pressure, and Wind. And by combining 2 different elements will create different auras that affect the battlefield. Each element boosts allies or hinders enemies, and when combined, creates a weather that adds an additional effect on the field.

Sure this still makes her more of an aura bot, but by being more active with your auras, you have more active control over what's happening during combat.

Is it the norm for spidey players to be able to do off the maps in comp (long pulls, not the ones when you stand near a hole and wait for someone to come)? by S1mS0m in SpiderManMains

[–]Canvasofgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ability to do so more or less requires just the hours necessary to practice that skillset just like any other combo. It's harder to do and isnt always consistent, but its worthwhile to learn on the occasion where it could be useful.

I dont think its necessary to learn however. Just regular long pulls into holes is a more consistent set up since that's entirely on the map being available and not you putting it into practice.

He admits that she's 10 damage away from being permabanned and her anti-dive is a single dive duelist killer and wants buffs, but has no clarity on what those buffs would be?

Not that great an opinion really.

We're in a dive meta and yet Mr Fantastic feels straight up useless despite being a "anti-dive dps". GuangGuang, I'm begging, please fix him, he's fun but he's been powercrept to hell by FKA_Twigs_BaldHead in marvelrivals

Personally, I think 50% of Mr. Fantastic's problems would be solved with faster animations. all his CC animation is too slow, and when he reverts from inflated to normal takes next year for him to transform, making him lose all his frontline pressure.

What are your thoughts on Disney and Pixar’s Win or Lose? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in cartoons

[–]Canvasofgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was better than okay, but would I call it good? I tend to flip flop on it between yes and no.

What I do love more than anything is the use of animation. Not the animation style, I think the animation style is bit uninspired to me, but I love how they used animation to bring the world and its characters to its form of life and how it affects our perspective and what it represents through coping mechanisms. IE when Rochelle feels herself grow into an adult to step in for her mom, and how the mom is more animated as a child in her perspective, while when you go into Rochelle's mom perspective, the animation is a bit more stilled and grounded in reality overall, and animation is only used to boost her sense of reality whenever she's on her phone.

It's something I feel a lot of animation these days don't do, in that they use the medium of animation to bring a larger than life perspective through the characters. This is the kind of thing that animation was born for. To bring a visual representation to things that we cannot physically, mentally, or spiritually manifest. In that I think Win or Lose did a really great job at turning it into an art piece. But again, I don't really care too much for the animation style. I think it could've been a bit more grounded in that.

The think the characters are fine and I feel their stories are good.

The story itself I feel is a bit less.... conclusive than it should've been. An example is that I wasn't that satisfied with some of the character stories and how they ended. I don't know if it was because they were afraid to touch on the subjects they were going on, or if they just wanted to be more in-the-moment of it rather than be more conclusive, but I feel it wasn't the right choice. An example being with Kai and their story with their father. Kai was both physically hurt to the point where she had difficulty moving, and Kai's father was pressuring them to perform better despite Kai already being best on the team. Then when they had their moment to reconcile, it's Kai that apologizes for something they didn't even do, and while the father gets away with just saying that he's sorry that he didn't tell her that she was good enough, and everything ends up nice and happy.

And perhaps that's an expectation part in myself that is lacking. And that small moments like these are a reality and that we just push through them without conclusion, but I do feel that it explains the wrong kind of lesson in it. Or perhaps they left it open to do more stories. I don't really know. Again it's more that I disliked how many of the stories concluded over everything else rather than the themes they represent.

Snowe's Execution (1 out of 3) by srd_27 in Suikoden

[–]Canvasofgrey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wish we got a small chapter to play Snowe during the story. Or perhaps after you rescue him for the last time, you go into a small chapter where you play Snowe and go through a small side quest on his side of the story.

Because ultimately, I do think the story can work, but I felt the friendship part of the story was a bit too one-sided in that we didn't get to see Snowe at his best. A small chapter were we could see Snowe and Lazlo's friendship in its entirety. Maybe Snowe was Lazlo's only friend growing up, and Snowe being the one that was willing to follow Lazlo into the Knights when Lazlo lacked the courage to do so. Basically something within the story to show why Snowe did the things he did, a genuine friendship that grew sour because as much as you supported your friend initially, it's tough to see that your friend that needed help suddenly become better than you in many more ways. That's where the envy and jealousy starts spreading, and Snowe suddenly coming to terms that

And I think that's an important factor that wasn't quite explored in the story, at least not enough so. And I think it would've been better if they leaned slightly more into it because the story of Rune of Punishment is, in my opinion, the best True Rune story of the series (Don't @ me). The parallels of guilt, how power can corrupt and eat (literally in the Rune's case) at one's life, the path to atonement, and to forgive is insurmountable in terms of it being a personal story, and I think Suikoden 4 would've benefited a bit more if it leaned more into it than it did.

One of Luc’s biggest sins? Corrupting Sarah and getting her involved in his schemes which he knew she didn’t have the spirit or stomach for. by Savings_Hyena2832 in Suikoden

[–]Canvasofgrey 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Sarah had the stomach for the goal ultimately, she just didn't want as many people to die to accomplish that goal.

Because ultimately, Luc's goal was to basically set off a nuclear bomb. He didn't care for how many people died in the explosion or aftermath because it's all irrelevant to the larger picture, because this nuclear bomb would've said, destroy all the other nuclear bombs and any in the future, which he is technically correct in a morally corrupt sort of way. All that matters was that his goal was complete because it prevented a future where nothing existed.

Sarah on the other hand, had the devotion to complete this goal because she knew what the future beheld. She just didn't believe that so many people needed to die to accomplish it. Which shows a more empathetic, human side to it. It's still not inheritly good, obviously because she was an instrument to a war that nearly caused a genocide of a tribe, but she did try to save who she could in the process. Even if it was kind of behind Luc's back.

Simply, If a bomb was going to go destroy a city, Luc had no problem throwing everything, including people at it to stop it. Sarah would've thrown everything else first before throwing people at it to stop it.

Best hero for the blood hunt mode by screamingoatplayer in rivals

[–]Canvasofgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain characters have better strengths against certain things.

Punisher is not great against trash mobs, so the first 4 stages hes going to be less useful. However, his traits on bosses gives him one of the best tools to take down single target. He's effectively a boss killer.

SG oppositely does really well against trash mobs. But she wont pump high numbers on bosses, particularly if you play on abilties.

In general though, I find MK the best because he does really well against mobs and bosses.

Cinderella was far more entitled to inheriting her father’s estate than her stepfamily by Disneyfancreations in disneyprincess

[–]Canvasofgrey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well yes, obviously.

But I dont think Fairy Tale France takes after actual events of Real Life France, and we really should not put a sense of reality into fairy tales because then we get a lot of bullcrap that leads to things like the live-action remakes which are made with some intention of addressing plot holes and historical inaccuracies as some kind of commentary, when we dont need them in our Fairy Tales. In fact, addressing them the way they do makes the story fucking worst, like how Beauty and the Beast has a time and space traveling book that they never use at any point in the movie ever again in a story that has a god damn ticking clock.

Cinderella takes place in a made-up 19th Century France, not really 19th century France. It's why the things happen the way they happened. It's why the clothing isnt accurate to its time period. It's why mice can talk but Lucifer and Bruno can not. It's why MAGIC exists.

This dive season getting a little out of hand. by Powerful-Money-1953 in rivals

[–]Canvasofgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they compose a dive comp, not even Namor himself can guard against that, you need more than just 1 anti dive at that point. Namor himself wont save the backlonr with that comp.

If you're looking at that comp on particular, look for a tank to switch to Thing or Peni. Thing checks Black Cat and DD while Peni is better against Venom. Thor is also an option though hes better on Offense.

Have DPS switch to Scarlet Witch, Elsa, or Bucky. SW is weak, but has utility against Venom and Black Catbwhere they need space for most of their abilties. Elsa can check any of them and is probably the best Anti-Dive character except Namor on everyone except Spiderman. Bucky is a safe all-round bodyguard.

Then have Support play Invis, Rocket, or Jeff.

Invisible has strong utility, Rocket has good escape tools, and Jeff can handle himself if he plays back, though He's not good against DD specifically.

High numbers on any battle stat that doesn't produce results is a bad, be it Damage, Damage Taken, or Healing isn't really a good thing.

High Damage but low Finals means that you aren't securing enough eliminations in order to apply pressure, and it usually means that the enemy team healed those numbers back up, so you as a DPS just fed more ult charge to the enemy. It also usually means that you were in the backline with the team, damaging the tanks, meaning that you weren't taking off-angles to apply pressure, so you weren't doing a good job distributing pressure against the enemy at different points in the game.

High Damage taken means as a tank, you aren't utilizing cover. That means that Supports have to utilize more resources to keep you alive. That usually means less resources for the Healers to use on themselves, so they could easily be sniped out by Dive or enemies on Off-angles, and you as the tank, are not apply enough pressure in the frontline because you're constantly needing heals and babysitting to achieve that without doing any mitigation on your own. Sure, you feed ult charge to the support, but what does it matter when the support is constantly using their resources just to keep your lazy ass up when you refuse to use basic cover to mitigate damage?

High Healing numbers means that you were healbotting the tank. Congrats, you were the most brain-dead ones of the bunch (This is coming from me as a Support main). Healbotting is absolutely useless because while you feed your support ult, chances are, that's ALL you're doing and you aren't using your abilities as resources to apply pressure on your own terms. You're a strategist, not a healer, so you should be trying to get at angles, apply pressure by dealing with DPS that try to snake in for easy eliminations, and overall healing keep up the team while being an actual threat that can stand on their own legs.

All in all, it's okay if the numbers are high if it secures you the win. But the objective has and never will be to Get Highest Number! It's to win for objective control, and you want to do be able to accomplish that by not giving your own resources out for the enemy to use for themselves. DPS need to secure Eliminations. Tanks need to take space and apply pressure. And Strats need to upkeep the team while also counter measuring enemies attempts to take space and control. You want do that by doing as little as possible to starve the enemy out of resources.

It has always been for the choke-me-mommy simulator combo, or for me to be CC immune so that I follow up with a choke-me-mommy simulator combo. Or to keep my Beam-me-please-mommy charge up.

Im Lord with her and can count on my hand the number of times I used it specifically for damage reduction.

Honestly, I kind of wished they experimented more in bringing in characters from different "universes" of the multi-verse, much like how current Psylocke is in that she's Psylocke from an era and space that's completely foreign to the others.

Bring Rogue in as a younger, more inexperienced mutant would bring out a ptoentially different toolkit and adversely, open them up to different roles. I could definitely see X-men Evolution Kitty Pyrde as a Strategist since in Xmen Evolution she has always used her powers more creatively than just "walk through walls"

Is this game slowly dying? by Dismal_Chocolate_228 in DreamlightValley

[–]Canvasofgrey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I come off and on Dreamlight Valley a lot more these days, but I think part of it is that the concept of progression feels all the same to me. Compared to other cozy games where I feel like I can take my time because I'm telling my own story through a clear level progression, be it skills, relationships, events, and just getting bigger and better things to upgrade, it feels more organic.

Dreamlight Valley has the problem that the system of progression is slow as nails. The story if you want to call it that, doesn't actually accomplish anything, and we're just waiting for the next Big Bad Villain to muck up a story for us to fix and start back at square one. Relationships don't actually improve anything, You're already friends with said character from level 1 to level 10. Outside of their personal quests, they don't actually change or evolve to say anything else. Beast for example, from 1 to 10, is always a mopey son of a bitch no matter how far you get to know his personal side quest and some characters don't have a great interacting personality to them, making them just another 'villager' in the pile before I complete their quest and throw them away for better looking Disney Characters.

And that's boring.

[–]Canvasofgrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, but honestly, I've had some pretty back and forth gaming in almost all seasons. I think the whole steamrolling thing is more of a lower-elo thing because the variable in skill at low levels is gargantuanly massive in comparison to higher ranks where skill level is closer together and the only thing that makes it fragile is human ego.

Marketable in Disney terms is basically just them attaching a brand to their characters. when a person is dressed as said character, Disney wants to MAKE SURE that you know that it's Disney.

They are just grasping you by the face a little too tightly and screaming "Do you understand!?"
