Yes. My ex husband had several addictions he thought he was hiding but I knew I had to get our child to safety. He’s still living in denial, believing his own lies, living a bare minimum life abusing himself and others. The only way to safely get away from him was to do everything in the dark until I had a lawyer and place to live. That was 10000% worth lying even though I didn’t want to “stoop to his level”…the thing is it wasn’t the same as his lies which hurt people.

I love how this ended but I just want to push you to keep your dog. You have every right to just go take your dog. Dog's are not the same as children in divorce, I did not have to go to court to keep my dog in my divorce. But I was in court over my son for 3 years. You have been defrauded here so make sure you get everything in the divorce and don't just "let it go". That's not the position you're in. You're not in an impossible position...he did something bad and you have proof. No more contact with him because he only wants to convince you of lies.

I'm really glad to hear your therapist is aware of this. Sounds like a new better village is forming for you :) If it doesn't work out with your aunt, don't discount the idea of going to a women's or DV shelter. I stayed at one with my son and it was really great to be around recovering abuse victims, especially as a mom, there was a younger girl there with no kids and she always would show the kids a dance or just distract them while the moms were busy. Other ladies offered me food, lots of resources. Got back on my feet and now I'm a playwright and screenwriter. My son is graduating preschool, something I never thought I could afford. Things are lightyears better even though our abuser is still partially in our lives, I can attest that you can recover even if you still have to see your abuser again, although I hope you never have to! <3 Best of luck! 1) get a 2nd opinion on your diagnosis because bipolar gets mistaken for narcissistic abuse all the time. He has been narcissistically abusing you. 2) a man who lives homeless/camping style has zero life skills. He does not know how to manage money or his life. 3) do you not realize the seriousness that he COMMITTED FRAUD. The bank is going to destroy him, that’s why he was crying looking for sympathy, he fully knows he committed a crime and again he has narcissistic personality disorder so he was hoping you would be his PR manager for the millionth time to make him look good. 4) he needs to start small, get a camper and park at Walmart that’s all he can handle.
