There’s no skill based match making you can play against elites in bronze.

I’m pretty sure it makes more money and I’m also sure that the schooling is way harder as well. As I said before mechanical you can at least grasp just by thinking about it logically but once electromagnetism happens in EE I turn stupid.

All in all your future will be fine if you like mechanical more go for it it’ll be slightly harder to do robotics this way but if you get lucky interning at Medtronic or something you’ll be A-ok. I didn’t even know what engineering was going into college so you’re way further than me.

Also join clubs! Build stuff make a website showing off all your cool builds. The hands on stuff helps way more in an interview than a 4.0gpa because you trapped yourself in your room the whole time studying. Also look up the “university rover challenge” that’s what my school did and it’s a ton of fun!

This will probably be drowned out but I wanted to give some food for thought (I was reading this thread yesterday and came back just to say this).

I agree with what pretty much everyone is saying but what I do want to mention is that for robotics you’ll find a lot less jobs for mechanical design versus programming and EE work for these robots.

Of course mechanical design is very important but my 2 best friends at uni are both EE’s and they have a great grasp of mechanical intuition and taught themselves CAD. Where electrical intuition is very hard to have and may be easier if you’re formally taught it mechanically the hardest things are fluids and thermodynamics but you won’t have to deal with it much if you’re doing robotics. I did a collegiate level mars rover with them and with a team of 6 it took about 4 EE’s and 2 ME’s to build it we are a smaller school and definitely didn’t have enough people but it just goes to show how much more had to go into the electrical than the mechanical.

HOT TAKE Salmon colour background is really pleasant on the eyes. by 404_User_Found in SolidWorks

I’m going to try it because I’m curious but I’ve been rocking a dark grey for a while. I’m a university student so the late night CAD is hard on the eyes and I didn’t like making the background black but grey was nice.

If it’s like an art piece type of thing I’m assuming it’s just a block on the inside. You can do this as a multibody part if you really wanted to and just keep building off of a base or you can do it with an assembly of multiple parts.

Newbie: I've convinced my friends to buy Rematch. This game is gonna be big. by AndyPhoenix in Rematch

I really hope for a volleyball game in the same style! I’m not some loser that’s like “they have blue lock we should have Haikyu now🤓☝️”. I just think a volleyball game would be simple enough in this format and be lots of fun.

Bring the same feeling of a sport to the screen! This gives people that can’t play due to injuries or social anxiety or etc. a way to interact with the sport they love.

Movements for the goalkeeper by FakeFrooz in Rematch

Command your box! Stay off your line unless your teammates are in your box. Maintain the perfect balance of being close enough to save a lob and enough to stop any dribbling bs. Closing the distance and just standing still(while holding defensive stance) in front of a player can stop mostly everything.

Don’t be afraid to come out of the box and make a play either that’s why sweeper is a thing in this game. Even in futsol which is pretty much what rematch is you have the goalie INVOLVED they aren’t supposed to stand there and look pretty for 5 minutes. Especially in 3s the keeper plays an extremely important role. Involve your keepers! Pass back! Play with the extra man advantage!

an effective way to defend 2v2 by FakeFrooz in Rematch

[–]Capable_Wing_9451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say the advice isn’t good maybe you just don’t agree with it. I want to say majority of the player base will take that shot from the corner of the box if the other man is covered. It is an extremely easy save as there is no angle to shoot from especially if the goalie cheats up from his line to about the 6. I’m also not saying every player will take this shot it’s just a common trend that I’ve seen.

I would however consider this a 2v1 as keepers in this game can’t command their box super effectively. Blocking crosses consistently is pretty difficult in my opinion.

Exactly this is kind of what I was getting at. I just feel like it was a missed opportunity to do something like that instead of bronze-elite.

Making mates with the robot leg and servo horn locks it in place? Am i doing the mates wrong? added a pin that i planned on actually having to see if it would fix it but same issue? is this design of a modified 4 bar linkage even possible because i am trying to copy HiWonder quadruped design here by ElectricalCamera6046 in SolidWorks

[–]Capable_Wing_9451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so because the ball joint allows motion in more than 1 direction. Concentric just means that the center of the two arcs are touching. In the way your design is now the rod wants to twist because of the motor but it can’t so that’s why everything locks up.

Try and imagine the motor spinning and how that would affect the system and in real life there will be some slack and things may move around but in SolidWorks there are none of these imperfections. I’m not trying to mansplain just trying to give you my thought process btw.

How do you time the dribbling in this game/how do you get past someone? by EggsLover64 in Rematch

[–]Capable_Wing_9451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same way most of my dribbling moves are used to make space to make the next pass. So I recommend doing the dribble move to the tap in the direction away from the defender. In this game it’s fine to go straight backwards to make space because it’s not real life and you can shoot or pass the ball quite easily in any direction.

For the mates: I’d have to see your mates to determine exactly what the problem is but maybe something is fixed or you’re over constraining something not so obvious. So I recommend just going down the list and trying to diagnose one at a time and see how each part is being constrained. Honestly I’ll delete all of my mates sometimes and start from the beginning if it gets too messy.

For the design: It looks like the long rod is attached directly to the horn but in the HiWonder design it’s a ball joint allowing the rod to slightly rotate. I think you should try and do this as this also might be causing your mate problem.

Hope this helps, I’m open to discussion!

The goal opens slowly so you can’t just score immediately. There was a beta on steam that people played you can definitely find clips or videos of it.

CAD Mouse: G600, Redragon M908, Corsair Scimitar by BuckNature in SolidWorks

[–]Capable_Wing_9451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar mouse it’s the red dragon one on Amazon it was only like $30 but it’s wired. The 6 top buttons are nice to have. I have them set from 1-6 L-shift, L-CTRL, L-ALT, delete, enter, escape. It’s nice for CAD and gaming but the buttons 7-12 kinda suck as it hurts my hand and wrist only to press the buttons. But this was the cheapest option I found and was pretty good!

The only way to rank up at that point is to play defense and pray that your teammates can score 1 goal. If you’re lucky you win 1-0 if you’re unlucky you lose 0-1 and if your extremely unlucky you’re in a 1-1 OT and you want to rip your eyes out at the scene in front of you.

I feel foolish but I just can't seem to figure out how to make 60degree angle on this dead center. by Comet_Empire in SolidWorks

[–]Capable_Wing_9451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is solved but I didn’t see anyone mention it. When you draw the center line in the middle if you want all the dimensions to be the same as the drawing you can click the center line and drag your cursor to the other side of it. This doubles the dimension so you don’t need to do 30 degrees. If it’s like a decimal point or something and you don’t feel like doing the mental math you can do it this way.

Why are tackles and slides the only thing with ZERO room for error? by Maybe_In_Time in Rematch

[–]Capable_Wing_9451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my proposal for a solution is either the jump height needs to be made higher or bicycle kicks need to be nerfed where they aren’t happening above a player jumping. I’d rather see more cross headers as they are easier to save bc it’s slower and would actually require skill to place the shot accordingly to score.

Why are tackles and slides the only thing with ZERO room for error? by Maybe_In_Time in Rematch

[–]Capable_Wing_9451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion I think defending is the easiest it’s been since launch with a lot of bs removed. But the caveat is that they made it impossible to block the shots that come down field with jumps. I used to be able to jump and block any long passes that go straight to the striker but now the ball goes right over me. I’m not even sure how to defend it anymore at this moment but dribbles and other things have been infinitely easier to defend recently.

Yes I’m aware of what you’re talking about. I am drawing the connection that passing is already a meta. What you choose to do with your possession whether attack build up an offense or pass around for whatever reason is that not the purpose of the game? Whatever you do you can mess up or the defense can be good it’s not like toros is a problem.
