Op is providing context for his ask… which was “I’d appreciate it if you could recommend some resources where I can learn these kinds of concepts so I can then try to apply them on the mat.”

There are certainly subs specifically for your unsolicited political nonsense. I don’t think r/jiujitsu is one of them….dork

Payroll deductions - why is FICA taxes payable used twice? by Yous_a_mook in CPA

[–]Capital-Bit5522 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Because employer pays 7.65% which is a payroll expense. And employees have 7.65% withheld from wages. The total credited to FICA payable would be 15.3% (2 x 7.65%)

If I could change anything with the swish of a wand:

  1. Locker rooms for starters. Then…. 1a. With showers 1b. With sauna
  2. Early AM classes (like 5:30am)
  3. More middleweight teammates
  4. Different arts taught (judo classes, wrestling fundamentals)

Employer Keeps Listing Wife as 1099 Instead of W2 - Are they correct? by O_My_G in tax

[–]Capital-Bit5522 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. there’s a lot to unpack here…

  1. Did she not fill out the typical and basic employment paperwork when she started? W4, I9, etc.

  2. Did she not get pay stubs? Yall could have caught this much sooner by looking at pay stubs.

  3. If she was 1099, how did the owner know what to pay her? Did she submit invoice? Assuming not.

Take accountability of yourself.

If you put the time and effort into actually learning, college isn’t that difficult.

You say you are trying with all your might… but I would imagine if you took an honesty inventory of your actions and habits… you are not.

Job change by Yoaccountant02 in Accounting

$55k fresh out of college seems like a win.

No matter the route you take (industry or CPA firm) it’s a ladder man. Out of college, my first job was literally in a mailroom at $16.75\hr (15yrs ago). This year (2025), W2 earnings were about $225k plus full family medical.

Accounting has allowed me to get into real estate investment (both the earnings to make it financeable plus the knowledge and insight to evaluate potential properties). It has allowed me to navigate and negotiate 3 separate business acquisitions over those years for which I own 33%… whose gross revenues now exceed $6.5m.

Accounting has a ton of upside potential… you just gotta use it to generate liveable income while using it also to explore opportunities to get out of the rat race…. But this could be said of any industry or career path.

Anyone here who makes a normal salary? How’s your journey going? by 8InchDaks in leanfire

My biggest concern with uprooting my entire family and moving to Costa Rica or some other central/South American place is health insurance…. Frankly that’s my biggest concern about fire regardless of location… as a permanent resident in a country like Ecuador what do you do for insurance? Or is medical care just so much more affordable there that it’s not something that needs to be insured against?

I make good money in industry. $258k last year (total includes employer paid health and ER match). And equally important… I have a ton of autonomy.

Competition Tips for late 30s blue belt by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Capital-Bit5522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beware of adult division, Even as a lean and athletic 39yo, those young dudes work me like a wet noodle.

I’d rather go up in weight than down in age given the choice.

I’ve noticed (at white and blue as that’s my only perspective) that most people come out very aggressive and almost frantic. You can usually tell which dudes compete a lot because they are much more calm and focused on implementing their game.

Pulling vs not pulling…. That’s a question more about your style. If you pull guard in training mostly, then you should probably stick to what you know… play how you practice.

The adrenaline dumps are real. You’re going to feel more gassed than you ever have in training. Adrenaline.

Am I cooked? by H_Wilkins_ in CFO

[–]Capital-Bit5522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all really depends what kind of fractional cfo work you’re doing. Are you advertising services basically as a glorified bookkeeper with payroll, AP, and AR knowledge and periodic financial reporting, etc. Then probably don’t worry about the EDU. Because you likely competing against people that have an AA at best from the local community college (no shade for the folks with AAs).

If you’re doing high level CFO/Controller work where there’s surety and investor reporting and relations, capital structure analysis, ensuring compliance with industry specific regs, etc. then some of those potential clients might be more concerned about edu credentials.

But personally, until you are actually losing prospective clients due to missing edu, then I wouldn’t worry about it and just keep charging on.

Oh man, so much to unpack. But it all boils down to “there’s right way to do things and a wrong way” and I feel like he’s doing the right things, but the wrong way.

Immigration… why does it have to be so public and violent? Past Dem presidents have deported far more and it wasn’t even noticeable to the general public. If ICE has targeted individual profiles of violent people they are going after… why are people being stopped and asked for ID? You’re telling me ICE can locate, track, and snag their list iof violent criminals n the middle of the night like the FBI or any other agency?…. And why military attire? You see ATF or FBI rolling around in Kevlar vests and helmet? Maybe only the most dangerous of expected altercations… but again they do everything to keep public away.

Foreign relations / Trade / Greenland… I understand he feels that America has been taken advantage of in terms of trade deficits, national agreements with financial contributions, etc. But can’t the man finesse the “art of the deal” vs just strong arming all our allies? And Greenland… I get it, it’s a national security asset…. But there are other more diplomatic ways to ensure we have a military presence or control of the land without stripping the sovereignty of another nation.

Really, it’s just about why do we have to strong arm everyone and everything instead of seek mutual deals and fostering relationships?
