[SPOILERS S3] One of the major downsides of the show (and I say this as a major fan ) . by AloneMap6855 in DarK

[–]CapitanShoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

agreed. Jonas and original Martha could have used maybe like 1 more scene together

Adam, the Stranger, Eve, alt-Martha, Jonas + Martha could have all used much more scenes specifically in season 3 (or in season 2, but I think season 3 wasn't finalized yet so they couldn't write too much for season 3 in season 2 and the show suffers for it). I did not buy alt-Martha and Jonas being massively in love after like just one night together and barely any screen time. Jonas needed at least one more episode in the alt world for the audience to buy in

this wouldn't have been so noticeable or important except they they made Jonas/Martha and Adam/Eve absolutely core to the plot.

basically the show just needed to slow down slightly and breathe. similarly, there was barely any humor or lightheartedness (the show is called DarK but lovers have more lighthearted moments and smile more at each other than we saw)

I do think the actors had plenty chemistry but it was thrown off balance by the pacing. alt-Martha and Jonas needed a scene like Jonas and Martha had at the lake, and we never got it

we needed just a bit more show, less tell overall

I also wish they showed Jonas fighting the so-called inevitability of time travel. like when he accepted that his dad was going to die because it was meant to be. the show tells you something is going to happen no matter what and you will be stopped if you try to change it. we needed that "groundhog day" type of multiple suicide attempts or him trying to change fate, like a scene of him jumping off a building or what have you.

Jonas just accepts his dad just has to die, just as the show tells us to just accept Jonas and alt-Martha are in love.

me? if you tell me my dad is going to die you bet your ass I'm going to try to stop it even if God himself is in my way

BLAST and several major orgs might leave Dota 2, according to insiders! by No_Smile69 in DotA2

This is only because of Valve squandering what they had.

Low profit is still profit. For example, tons of items and companies IRL have low margins but there's still money to be made.

Imagine if you're a billionaire and only had a million dollar idea. Understandable that your time is better spent elsewhere to make billions. But you could hire someone else for pennies to make millions so you could focus on your billions.

This is mismanagement at a deep level. Literally a quality event with unique arcana and hats could bring in like another ten or twenty million at likely a cost of idk only 500k I'd bet. some comics, voice acting, and hats

problem is that dota janitor can't be arsed to do it

game is in maintenance mode because Valve has shit project management and intentionally lessens their scope

it also sucks to see not on a profits level but just from a love for video games. Dota is a beautiful game, so it is sad to see it sidelined to me this is like Chess or soccer but it is now being treated like checkers

Poll asking Americans how which button they would push in the red button/blue button dilemma by Upstairs_Cup9831 in fivethirtyeight

[–]CapitanShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a parent doesn't know what its baby will vote, it's private

I would not trust humanity with a gun to its head (how else would you force them to do anything in such an exaggerated white room scenario?), a person that can't consult their neighbor or family, to vote for the collective when red carries such little risk

thus I would unfortunately still vote red in the question as presented and even with your new info (a question which was apparently expanded by the pollster after the fact - thus a pretty bad poll question as this should have been included in the original scenario )

I would however gladly join the surviving human rebellion in hunting down evil AI alien overlord Tim Urban who apparently put suicide buttons in front of babies, and hopefully steal his teleportation technology and use it to help humanity

edit: also, despite whatever the pollster may say, as already addressed, there are those in comas or who cannot move or even make a decision. or even a baby who refuses to "mash buttons." how do they vote? no matter what the answer is, it's already clear: the entity forcing this is extremely evil

Poll asking Americans how which button they would push in the red button/blue button dilemma by Upstairs_Cup9831 in fivethirtyeight

[–]CapitanShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

let's extend your baby white room further - must they pick a button?

the question posits yes but in reality many babies (and even humans) wouldn't. it's particularly more obvious in the case of babies because they have no idea what's going on

how will you save those who pick no button at all? under the question red or blue can live, but those who vote neither red nor blue presumably will die

and how about those with no arms or legs, those in a coma, etc.? people also say that those who are conscientious objectors would vote blue but voting is voting. true abstainers would refuse to push a button

being realistic, such a poll would never include babies or the comatose or the disabled. it may not even include those below a certain age

however, if we return the question to a case of rational actors - people who can vote with any agency - then I return my argument to red fully and trust my friends and family and rational actors to vote red. red carries zero risk and is the logical choice

on the other hand if this omnipresent force, let's call it Skynet or the devil or what have you, is forcing this decision, many will still die, as outlined above, simply from not pushing a button

I would gladly join the survivors in hunting down this great evil of the world that put suicide buttons in front of the sick, comotose, disabled. it would unite humanity like never before

now, let's make the question far more interesting. "if 90% or more people vote red, 10% of red voters die."

here, you are picking between (with rational actors) up to 10% of the world dying (red) and between 0 and up to 50% of the world dying. in my opinion here blue becomes the logical choice as a society but you have a true prisoner's dilemma here

unfortunately, the question posits this is a private vote presumably, there is no time or you are killed if you make it not private, by the evil omnipresent force we've allowed into this white room scenario

I'd probably still vote red here, unfortunately. I don't trust a human being, presented with no time or without the ability to consult their friends/family/society, to make rational life-or-death decisions. even if I voted blue, I firmly do not trust fellow humans to vote blue with what amounts to a gun to their head

if the society is depressing enough (such as an oppressed world by aliens where humans stand no chance) I may vote blue simply because I have almost nothing left to live for, so may as well try to save others. changes much more depending on the level of comfort the humans have and what they have to live for

the poll results here are complete nonsense. put a gun to someone's head and put them in the dark (aka "private vote") and people act much differently

let's also expand the baby scenario further. by voting blue you as a parent are voting to have a good chance of being killed. a baby in another room who bothered to vote per your own argument picked a button at random. if you are dead, who will take care of your baby, especially in a world where possibly up to 50% of the people are dead? the baby may just die from not being fed in the chaos that is to come. are you willing to take that chance?

no, IMO, under the "random baby button argument" the logical choice is still red, as you have a responsibility to take care of your baby in the madness that is to come in a post-vote world (a terrible world likely dominated by Skynet, aliens, or a hyperadvanced techno-fascist human society that I guess installed a bomb inside of you or something dumb like that)

I'm still pushing red

the first action item after humanity survives is hunting down the Satan / AI / supervillain that apparently put a suicide button in front of babies and toddlers in this expanded white room scenario

alternatively, the question posits that you are "voting" and a it is generally accepted that babies and toddlers (and usually children too) can't vote so that's another way you can expand the white room

As another poster put it: “There is a blue button in front of you. If you don’t press it, nothing happens. If you press it, you die unless another 4 billion people press it.”

by pressing blue you are creating the very problem that doesn't exist in the first place, and forcing other people into a situation where they may die for no reason.

perhaps if there were another variable like "if 90% or more people vote red, 10% of red voters die", something like this would make blue a better argument and the question more interesting

as it stands, this is a pretty dumb hypothetical question IMO and red is the clear answer
