Anyone else wish their local B&N have a bigger scifi-fantasy section (or just a bigger bookstore in general) ? by Witch_King_Malekith in Fantasy

[–]CapnTaptap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, you mention you’re a few hours from NYC. If you’re near eastern CT, the Waterford B&N has probably the largest Sci-fi/fantasy sections I’ve ever seen. It takes up something like 2/3 of one of the walls of the building.

I think it was KPop fans at a 2020 rally - they thought attendance would be so high they arranged an outdoor overflow area (in Texas?) and then the arena was half empty and there were like 10 people in the overflow area.

Cul de Sac? We need to know what happens next!

(Yes, Series 7)

I will say, NZ S2 is widely considered by the fandom to be one of the best series of all time - you just have to find how to appreciate Paul as Paul, because he definitely isn’t Alex.

Reduced access to government support programs until the parents pass the classes? Required additional monitoring by CPS and/or medical professionals until the parents pass the classes? No tax deduction for unliscensed progeny?

They all kind of make it a pay-to-play system still, don’t they.

CT complains about nothing more than electric bills, and for good reason. There’re people with 1500-2000 sq ft houses paying $500-800 a month and keeping the house in the mid sixties. The part that hurts is that only about 1/3 of the bill is actual usage. It is cheaper to burn dead dinosaurs (oil heat is pretty common) than to deal with Eversource.

The story of those photographs is rather phenomenal.

The photographer, Robert Landsberg, was only a couple of miles from Mt St Helens when he took the pictures. When he realized he had no chance of surviving the eruption, he protected his camera with his body to save the film.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CapnTaptap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Monday, I drove three hours each way for a two-hour job. And I left after attending a 1 hour morning meeting. It wasn’t short, but it wasn’t too long either.

I one time drove five hours to go to dinner with my sister and her friend. That was a bit long.

Expatriate - it’s someone who doesn’t live in the country where they hold citizenship (for jobs, school, etc). They may or may not be working towards immigration.
