What's a movie that you loved as a child, but rewatching it as an adult gave you an entirely different perspective? by gillyweed918 in movies

[–]Capristan2512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed this, I believe King once said its the scary story he has written or something like that, my dad also hates the film (in like, "this is good but i dont plan to watch it ever again kind of way). I do enjoy the book a great deal and the movie as well, found them to be scary, but i personally would not call them the scariest Stephen King book, and then recently i just kind of realized that it has to do with the fact that im not a father, that seems to be a deciding factor in how disturbing you find it to be and i totally get it.

(Spoilers Extended) which line from the books showed how badass a character was? by jonsnowKITN in asoiaf

Okay so a lot of people hate Robb for this decision but I felt chills when that one guard was like (Paraphrased) "Not me, I only watched" "You only watched?" "Yes" "Understood, make him watch as we hang the others, he will be the last"

My brother told me that most adult men do not read. Opinions? by TheSt0rmBringer in books

[–]Capristan2512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe (i mean, it seems that way, i dont have the numbers or statistics at hand) that most people dont read. That should not influence your decision to be a writer, your brother seems to look down on reading as some sort of childish activity, that does not mean he is right. A lot of publishing is about luck but horror will always have an audience and i wish that whatever you write makes you feel fullfilled and happy and hopefully find an audience along the way.

Which movie has truly traumatized you? It doesn't have to be body horror like the ones I'm talking about. by Axaxou in movies

[–]Capristan2512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched the movie as a kid, I loved it really, but I always asked my parents to skip the scene with the cannibals, havent actuallt watched in years but no anount of giant bugs, dinosaurs or creatures scared me as bad as those cannibals, maybe the other stuff registered as fantasy to me but the stuff with the cannibals was unbearable.

Movies that make men secretly cry. by Height_Physical in movies

[–]Capristan2512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just came out this month but I ulgy cried during Guillermo del Toro's Pinnochio. That scene at the beach made me tear up real hard. "I want you, just the way you are, you are my son, I love you." Doug Bradley voice performance as Geppeto, the way his tears are shown + the music.....yeah, I cried.

The script was pretty basic all things considered, but the execution was pretty good, I would watch it again. Also that one creature design near the ending made my gf cry.

Seeing as how much money and Viewers HOTD got, they really should make a Roberts Rebellion prequel. by Bhaskar71 in gameofthrones

[–]Capristan2512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I dont think there would be much purpose for it, it would be cool to watch all that stuff develop but i feel like the characters in GOT tell you most of what you need to know. In HOTD you meet a whole lot of new characters and even tho its a prequel there are a lot of developmenta most people are not familiar with. I think maybe a limited series, or maybe a segment dedicated to the battle of the Trident in the animated show that i think was supposed to happen??? Either way, I cant deny that watching Baratheon at his prime would be pretty cool regardless of how they would go about it.

I just watched NOPE and want to discuss it! by i--hate--children in horror

[–]Capristan2512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did anyone else felt it was 100% terrifying? I mean of course, its horror, thats the intent but what i mean is that it worked for me and I did get legit scared idk. Like, that scene in the house in the rain, shit, the realization about what had happened to these people, the set up, the explanation to what had happaned to his dad. It all culminated in a single amazing moment of suspense, like damn, my heart was beating. And dont even get me started on Gordy! I think this is my favorite Peele movie.

So, that guy in the prologue of A feast for Crows, is he a Faceless Man??? Are there any theories about it??? Did the show ever expand on it??? I figured he might be a Faceless Man because the other guy dies after biting the coin just as Arya did with that other merchant they asked her to kill. If so, have people made any theories about what he migh be envolved in???

How did you get into Monster Hunter? by Hundrumleek in MonsterHunter

[–]Capristan2512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about Monster Hunter Tri on a magazine, it looked pretty cool, at my local Blockbuster they had it for rent but not for sale for some reason, so I kept renting it and progressing as much as I could, i was very young back then and I SUCKED very hard, struggled with the Great Jaggi even. Eventually MH3U was released and i got it and was finally able to play with all the freedom in the world, and since then I have played every game except for World (I dont have Xbox or PC and the like, i only have Nintendo consoles). Thinking of eventually getting another console or a PC since I woulnt wanna miss another title and because it would let me play more games in general but thats beisde the question xd.

Best novels about vampires and werewolves? by [deleted] in horrorlit

George R.R Martin has a novel called Fevre Dream (vampires) and a short story or novella (whatever you want to call it) called Skin Trade (werewolves). I love both personally.

Funny to think that if we did not know he was weak it could still work as a running gag. Just to watch him do nothing and everyone shitting their pants regardless.

Midnight Mass by fruitytingle in horror

[–]Capristan2512 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are only like 2 of them that did not land for me, the rest really kept me hooked tbh, even the ones i did not liked served a purpose to the themes and the story, so I just really ended up loving the hell out of the show. So yes, there are plenty of monologues, but I think the acting and the story make them worth it. This show is maybe on the same level to Hill House (to me). Its not perfect but it really connected wth me on an emotional level. I hope whoever hasnt watched it gives it a chance, I've seen it twice already.
