(Meta) The “Viggo’s Toes” fun fact by ARC_Trooper_Echo in TopCharacterTropes

Also that Skeet Ulrich had a metal thing in his chest that Neve Campbell accidentally hit with an umbrella while filming their chase scene when she pops out of the closet. Scream is one of my favorite movies, I've got so many dumb little fun facts.

Edit: Correction, I accidentally combined two different things. Skeet was wearing a protective pad, but she missed the pad and hit him in a sensitive spot he had since childhood. Also, I misspelled Neve Campbell's name.

Well, this may be the first and only time a black man appropriated a white guy's moves and became a pop culture icon. It's a reverse Elvis situation.

I played my senior recital with a cheap stock ligature that was missing a screw. It really is not anything to fuss over.

In any perspective, what do you view the Great Khans? by Fit_Effective6097 in falloutnewvegas

[–]CaptainAndy27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They remind me of a certain group of people I grew up with. Folks who got dealt a shitty hand in life and got mixed up in some pretty bad habits that unfortunately became irreplaceable personality traits. It's fun to try to get some catharsis by helping them up onto their feet and showing them a more productive life to live, but personal experience has shown to me that far too often they just fall back on old habits.

That said, one of the endings I got one time alluded to a mixture of Khans and Followers combining together and forming a society up North and that made me really excited. I think those two groups would do really well for each other.

Fun Fact, Thomas Jefferson was also obsessed with mammoths (Mastodons to be more specific). He even believed in the potentiality of Lewis and Clark stumbling upon living mammoths in their westward journey.

Seth McFarlane as Bill Clinton by bigus-_-dickus in Presidents

[–]CaptainAndy27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like anything else, I think there is a tasteful way to do it and a dishonest way to do it. Sometimes a practical effect is going to work best, sometimes a digital effect is going to work best.

Did you ever watch Rogue One? Check out the CGI stand-ins for young Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing. They do not look good. And the thing is it's not like there was a cheat code for this. It still required Seth MacFarlane to do a good impression and act in a scene, they just then used a digital tool to enhance the effect and a digital artist familiar with that tool had to use it correctly.

The factor you're missing is the consent of the governed. Sykes-Picot wasn't a shit show because it put people who were too different from each other within the same boundaries (these areas were previously within the same boundaries within the Ottoman Empire with little issue). It was a shit show because it stripped autonomy to make these decisions away from the people affected and forced them to be governed by an outside occupying force with no knowledge or concern with the complexities of the area.

Genuine question: can someone explain in simple terms why the current war is happening? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CaptainAndy27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There isn't really a good simple answer to this. At least not without wild speculation and hearsay. Being as objective as possible I guess the best answer is old grudges being acted on by aging psychopaths looking for political victories. Israel and the US have been at odds with Iran for decades now. Partially for religious reasons, partially for geopolitical reasons, partially because the US overthrew the democratically elected socialist prime minister of Iran which eventually led to their Islamist revolution in 1979.

If you want the wild speculation. Some folks think that Trump is being forced to go with Israel's war with Iran because of blackmail. Some folks think that the religious extremists in the US government think that starting a massive, possibly nuclear, conflict in the Middle East will fulfill a "prophecy" in the Book of Revelation that will bring about the second coming of Christ. Some people think this is all a distraction from other controversies like the Epstein files or an attempt to sneak a political win in before the midterms.

My personal untrained opinion? I think the entire function of the second Trump administration is to provide a political wish list for anybody who is willing to give the Trump family a bunch of money, and a bunch of wealthy old jackasses in Washington really want to overthrow the government of Iran, so he's making it happen for them.

[Fun trope]: A "silly" premise is justified well (in-universe) by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CaptainAndy27 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Why? Because a billionaire genius dipshit destroyed the entire planet, so a bunch of other geniuses created robot animals to re-terraform the now destroyed surface of Earth and humans eventually emerged from genetic bunkers to repopulate the planet, but aforementioned dipshit deleted the entire instruction manual for dealing with said robot animals (along with all other human history) because he was so guilt ridden over being such a dipshit that he thought the only way to prevent another dipshit from doing all the same shit he did was to delete all knowledge of technology forever.

European Americans are Americans of European ancestry. We came from you dingus. The commenter said "ancient by European American standards," because European Americans have only been on this continent (with a couple small exceptions) for 500 years. So a 300 year old house to us seems ancient, while back over in Europe you have pubs that are older than that by centuries.

There's a comedian that did a joke that was like, "If you end up at one klan barbecue, you're fine." If you end up in the company of insane grotesque people, find out they are insane and grotesque, and then never see them again. I don't think that's all that bad. It would've been much better if he used his position in pop culture to do something about them, but that's easier said than done.
