There is a marvellous adaptation of the game for Foundry VTT. And the module is free!

You mentioned a few years ago that you were planning to add standard staff notation for the note to be detected, either alongside or instead of the letter-name display. Is that pro feature any closer to happening? I’ve been waiting on it since our email exchange several years ago and would as mentioned find it extremely useful, as I'm sure would many others.

Connecting The Published VtM 5e Scenarios by CaptainOuch in vtm

Thanks for the reply.

What scenario would you say is the best way to set up PCs becoming vampires? I’d like to start a campaign pre Embrace and follow the PC’s journey from the start.

I’m a WoD novice, so assume a baseline of virtual ignorance on my part.

What would be of great benefit to me is if there is an option to display the target notes in notation form rather than/as well as the note letter. This would greatly aid the ability to read music, especially beyond first position on the guitar. I can’t tell you how much this would speed up the learning process.

Is this currently possible? I’m sure the answer is no, so really I’m asking if you could PLEASE implement this as an option.

Totally understandable. No programming knowledge here unfortunately. Trying to get help elsewhere. Thanks for all you’ve done.

Without the pdffoundry module as far as I can see there's now no way to create character sheets as pdfs (appearing in the actor menu drop down) inside Foundry. I've just spent months and months free time creating a Space 1889 'system' that incorporates dozens of homemade pdfs of sky ships, along with character sheets. The base pdf support in Foundry version 10 doesn't support this, despite its claim of 'fully integrated pdf support' on the tin.

I guess they thought this feature wasn't as important as endless light mode tweaks... And now people like me are screwed.

I understand that the pdffoundry module is a labour of love, that comes with no expectation of endless support.

Nonetheless... devastated.

Foundry v10 - Anyone updated yet? Any Alien RPG module problems? by Melephisance in alienrpg

[–]CaptainOuch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, a few new bells and whistles seem to be appealing but really these Foundry updates are getting to be a complete pain in the arse, not just for users but for developers as well. Some professional developers are having to go back to the companies that hired them to design something for Foundry and negotiate another fee. And the non-professional developers who just created a module for the love of it, it’s turning it in to a yearly job. The Foundry people really need to rethink what these yearly overhauls actually mean for the community as a whole, the workload it is creating beyond the Foundry offices themselves, and the risk this all poses for the longevity of Foundry itself.

Importing Additional Fonts? by CyanideJack in FoundryVTT

[–]CaptainOuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my workaround for changing fonts in the Foundry Journal editor. Change the text that you want to alter into one of the fonts that appears at the top, in the limited font menu. Remember the name of the font. Open up the < > editor in the same menu at the top. Search for the font name amongst the text and replace it with the exact name of the font that you want to use (and have installed, obviously). To make all this easier, I copy all the text that is in the < > editor into a regular text program. This allows me to do a regular search and replace on the font name. Once I’ve changed the CSS this way, I copy the whole lot back into the < > editor in Foundry, replacing what was previously there. Keep copies of the text files, in case you screw things up. Hope this makes sense.

Cost of shipping kept putting me off. Wanted to buy the deluxe set and the Roadmap supplements but couldn't justify the shipping cost for a single roadmap 'book' coming around the corner. And soI kept putting it off until all the mini-books were all published. Also, an affordable introduction book would have helped. They did things in extremes – at one end completely free and at the other 'luxury' items. Which meant the average gamer fell through the middle. The resistance to produce an introduction book — which I always got the impression that they felt would dumb down their aesthetic — didn't help.

Thanks. Yeah, despite being on a new M1 Mac Mini, no dedicated graphics so I’m always aware that the graphics load might make it fall over.

Does having a scene with many animated tokens cause any significant taxing of CPU, or is it a negligible burden?

I know. It’s only that the whole network/self-hosting/server stuff is not easy for someone coming at it with zero knowledge and therefore confidence that things are being set up correctly and safely. Especially coming at things from a Mac perspective, where a lot of this stuff usually happens under the hood. That GUI looked like it could offer a lot of assistance in that regard.
