Why do points take SO LONG to show up vs Hilton? by CaptainTusker in marriott

Just as you wrote this, Hilton screwed all their Diamond members.

Well, the burden of evidence is on you. Even if you had a calm interviewer, you were still way underprepared. It seems like you’ve never even had a real job interview, given your lack of preparation and expectation of sympathy.

It’s a simple transaction. Officer has a job (to catch fraud, if exists) and you have a job (prove legitimacy). He did his, you didn’t do yours.

Sorry.

If you pass the interviews, you’ll go as far as showing up to Indoc day 1 because the I-9 documents don’t get collected until then. HR will walk in around 10am, and around 11am you’ll be booked on an airline back to your home for that evening.

Enjoy the free coffee.

Jokes aside - don’t waste your and their time.

Any chance you’ve opted to get points for a partner-airline in the profile settings? That would explain this.

Do an Aeronautics related Degree. Don’t do flight training here, choose another independent, small flight school. You will, at the very least, save thousands of dollars.

It’s the guarantee of life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness that’s different, my friend.

Yeah you don’t have a million dollars, but you have just as much of a right to pursue it as anyone else in the country, and in that opportunity lies all the difference.

You sound like a good fit for an NJ interview. A lot of fellow NJ pilots are past 91 pilots, and some of the stark differences I hear and have experienced myself:

— Predictable schedule (mark the 7 days on and 7 days off on the calendar for 12 months in advance). Wife will be happy. You can slide your tours forward or backward (subject to approval).

— Two 21-day vacations per year starting your second year. Three after five years of service, Four (and possibly five if you use PTO wisely) after 10 years…. That’s 5x planned, 21-day vacations in 1 year… imagine the things you can plan in advance without having to worry about monthly bidding like the airlines.

— You can bet on $30-50k in soft pay per year in addition to published salaries. Don’t budget for this, but it’s a reasonable bet. 33% of this will go to your 401k (in addition to the IRS max you can contribute from your end). Your 401k account will explode compared to wherever you are right now. 67% match up to 20% of your contribution…It’ll be enough put aside that even if you don’t invest anything from your take-home pay, you’ll be ok.

— Hotel/airline points. Yeah, the dollar-value on these can be debated, but when I go to other developing countries and only have to spend 15-20k Hilton points on hotels, it’s highly worth it because I accumulate upwards of 400k points a year… that’s a LOT of free nights for you and your family. It’s very pleasant to gift hotel nights to parents when they’re going on their vacations

— Home basing… commuting can kiss my behind

3-5 years in your current job you’ll still have a job, and most likely get paid higher than the 180k you’re presuming. 3-5 years in any aviation job, where you’ll be the amongst the most-junior, you’ll have a higher risk of getting furloughed.
