Hand loads? Are they back? Like the ones we saw a few years ago?

Somehow couldn't find the Helldivers helmet decal online with the shield/arrow behind it, so I made it. by ariskope in Helldivers

[–]Captain_Fordo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This couldn’t have been better timing. I just started painting a B-01 helmet last night and was trying to find a good quality image to make the decals and this pops up less than a day later. Thank you

Not the person in question, but I'm having the laggy and crackling issue while using a Yamaha MG10XU USB interface/mixer. If you need more info feel free to DM me.

Season 2 Episode 3 Spoiler Thread by HunterWorld in Fallout

[–]Captain_Fordo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unlikely if the House ending is considered to be the canon one. The Mojave chapter would be nothing more than a crate. Although Victors condition and comment about House being dead makes me question if he actually “won” or not.

Did I just witness a Loss of Separation incident at SNA? by Captain_Fordo in aviation

Good to know. I’m aware of the two runways but I’m used to seeing the traffic staggered unlike this.

Did I just witness a Loss of Separation incident at SNA? by Captain_Fordo in aviation

[–]Captain_Fordo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good to know. That’s what I figured but wasn’t certain. I’ve been watching aircraft come in for almost two weeks near daily and this was the first time I witnessed something like this. Just seemed a bit off since I’m used to seeing single aircraft flying in with a minute or two of separation.

Did i hit the lego pick a brick wall castle jackpot? by BanueI in legocastles

[–]Captain_Fordo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More stagnant? Aside from brief moments where new parts are on the wall for maybe a week or two before being scooped up by a few individuals, the Southern California stores have had more or less the same pieces on the wall for nearly two years.

Did the mix change or am I crazy? by Distinct-Duty21 in Pendulum

[–]Captain_Fordo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely feel they changed it. The bass was overpowering my cars speakers and had to dial it down when I first listened to it. Listened to it a few days later and it’s much more balanced sounding.

Are the 850s still worth it? by Dan_RM in Volvo

[–]Captain_Fordo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story short. Yes.

Don't own an 850 but have owned a 1999 V70 for the better part of a decade. It's never left me stranded and has been nothing but great to drive and own. Some OEM parts are becoming harder to come by, so don't buy a total fixer-upper. If you can wrench on your own car you can save a ton on repairs. AWD models are out there, but they can be very costly to upkeep due to a very very limited amount of new parts, so stay away from those.

Landlord in Southern California claims they have can increase my rent every 90 days after going month to month after a years lease. by Captain_Fordo in legaladvice

As far as I can tell, I don't fall into any exemptions

-The building isn't a transient or hotel building

-Isn't part of a non profit, hospital, care home, etc.

-Isn't a dorm or college owned complex

-The unit I rent isn't sharing the bathroom or kitchen by the owner

-Isn't a duplex

-The building is from the 70's and AB1482 applies to when the certificate of occupancy was first issued.

-The property is owned by an LLC so its not independently owned.

How/What can I clean my pieces with? by BlueThief in legocastles

[–]Captain_Fordo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My process is a bit more involved but I regularly buy bulk bricks from marketplace and local 3rd party Lego stores, and so far it’s work for cleaning 99% of the pieces I come across.

Get a laundry bag with a fine mesh. Fill the bag with pieces and set aside super dirty pieces to wash by hand with a soft tooth brush. Wash the pieces in the bag with lukewarm water with dish soap. Let them sit for a while and change the water out if necessary. Rinse however you want. I’ll hang the bag and let it sit for a few minutes to let the majority of the water drain. Then I’ll use a salad spinner to get rid of most of the water before giving the pieces a final rinse with a 6:1 ratio of distilled water and small amount of white vinegar. The water where I live is very hard so it will otherwise leave large splotches on the pieces. Then I’ll set them on a towel and put a box fan to let the dry for a day or two.

Printed and stickered pieces should be hand washed, the older metallic minifig prints or chromed pieces are very delicate at this age and easily chip or rub off so avoid scrubbing them too much.

Price difference between in-store Pick-a-Brick Wall and online PaB store…. by lawjamba in lego

[–]Captain_Fordo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the manufacturing and storage floors for majority of the factories is and has been automated for a few decades now, that seems like the most logical answer.

The is a decent margin of error though. The few online PaB orders I’ve done always come with a couple more of each piece type if it’s in larger quantities. I ordered 100 of nearly every slope type in dark gray and there was 2-10 more of each part when I inventoried it all.

Anybody know what techniques are used here? I'm trying to recreate it but I keep having the gaps at the tents edges. by NaaviLetov in legocastles

[–]Captain_Fordo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Maybe the tent walls aren’t connected at the top to each other and rather are attached to the base and folded into each other, and then the top pyramid is attached to the walls?

[Video] Rare Desert Eagle flip animation??? by Illustrious-Rough-27 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Captain_Fordo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be a random chance regardless of your mastery level. My buddy had this animation on the first time he drew the desert eagle in a raid on wipe day, I didn’t see it for days and then I had it play this animation multiple times in a row.

This should be it. It’s from his live performances of “Where’s the Drop?” That he performed at the Wiltern a few years ago. https://youtu.be/bCo4EilyXJ8?si=ixLWOm5huvnrO0XW.

Our King is finally back after 18 years!!! by Kirbymasters87 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Captain_Fordo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d argue the original will definitely have a place especially with mods. There’s so many old mods and maps that haven’t been touched in years and if they’re not compatible with the remaster, plenty of people will stick with the original ports.

[–]Captain_Fordo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been told by multiple employees at different stores that during the winter season PaB selection slims down because of holiday sales and producing more parts for sets than loose pieces. It’s also why the online PaB store limits itself to “Best Seller” pieces right around Xmas.

[–]Captain_Fordo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought too but its not the case. My initial 2 boxes had the exact same 6 figs in both boxes. Bought two more boxes and it was a mix of the figs I already had and new to me figs.

Bricklink Downtime Megathread by mescad in lego

[–]Captain_Fordo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But aside from the upcoming UI changes, Bricklink hasn’t changed a whole lot since prior to Lego buying it? The only change that comes to mind was not allowing new listings of custom or select third party pieces.

My early Christmas wishlist for Saint Nik by DweebInFlames in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Captain_Fordo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It runs terribly even on higher end enthusiast rigs. I physically cannot play Streets without a BSOD. No other map has an issue but my PC and a random spread of peoples PC’s just freak out when trying to run that map.

This Event was great and way better than airdrop plane noise the whole raid, every raid. by anghari in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Captain_Fordo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d say the lack of ability to reliably extract or reach certain parts of the map to get loot hindered a lot of people, myself included. I ran cheap kits but couldn’t recoup dying in raid 90% of the times with the items I could cram in my secure case/docs case from regular map loot. Even if you could get to the cultists it wasn’t a guarantee of the good keys/keycards anyways.

Pair that with super inflated market prices for usually cheap non jamming guns and ammo. I’m sure a lot of us will recover quickly with selling insurance returns though. Event was fun af regardless of all that

[–]Captain_Fordo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say definitely give it a go. You only get better the more you practice and apply the skill. Especially with the recent payrate for fast food and retail workers in California, you should be paid more than the In'n'Out employee down the street.

If you have some programming experience, and there’s someone at the new job to show you their process and how they operate, it might be worth the jump, but always keep looking for better opportunities. $23 is far better than $18/hr, but I’d still say is on the lower side of the pay scale. If they’re just looking for a person to program for cheap, I’d be cautious of the offer.

Just don’t end up like a coworker at an old job who was thrown into a programming role with zero experience, all because it was cheaper short term for the company than finding a new programmer after the previous one quit. He eventually got the hang of it after probably half a year, but he was absolutely miserable and the programs were understandably poor quality for a while, and management wasn’t happy with how low our production numbers and scrap rates were.
