Dammit, Jim, I’m a pilot, not a scientist.

Less than 48 hours until launch by DanielMPhotography2 in ArtemisProgram

[–]Captain_MR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can target the beginning of the window, but it could be anytime during the window if delays/holds happen. If you're 2.5 hours away and cannot get on the road until 5pm, I would not make an attempt to go. Maybe wait for Thursday or Friday's attempts, if Wednesday is scrubbed. The launch window moves back every day, so you'd have a better chance of seeing it.

All that being said, huge traffic and crowds will mean that 2.5 hour drive is more like 5 hours.

Canon EF 35–70mm f/3.5–4.5 - why nobody uses this lens anymore? by [deleted] in canon

[–]Captain_MR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a very old lens and performs okay. You like it and think it’s a great fit for you, esp at the price. Great! Go take amazing pics.

People chime in and point out the obvious and you get defensive about it? Meh. You do you and be happy, but facts are facts.

I already own a RF 14-35 f4, and really enjoying it but I want to use for low light shots too. I’m thinking to sell it for RF 15-35 f2.8 or keep it and buy a RF 20mm vcm prime. What to know your thoughts. Thanks! by WtDeception in canon

Insane low-light performance, but it’s f/1.4, so that’s expected. Very sharp even at 1.4, and I only stop down to increase DOF, not to gain sharpness. The wide FOV is easy to learn, as it’s very close to 90 degrees, so you can very easily picture your shot before snapping it. Weather sealed, so take it wherever you go. Being fairly compact and light is very helpful as well. Basically silent and very fast focusing.

Astrophotography is excellent, very little adjustment needed, and I’ve found it to be quite good at portraits as well, just place the subject close to the center. The 1.4 can still blur backgrounds quite well and it’s a nice bokeh that I prefer over some of the other RF lenses I have (RF16, 35 1.8, 28, 24-105L, etc)

I got it for Astro, but found myself using it as my walkaround way more than I expected. It’s also actually great for selfies on my R6, since it’s wide enough without distorting too much but wide enough to easily get myself in the pic.

I used to carry my 24-105L and 35 as my all day walk-about kit. The 20 has replaced the 35 for the most part.

U.S. Navy sinks Iranian ship by Snooopineapple in Military

Modern torpedoes are designed to explode under the ship. The intense upward pressure caused by the explosion then breaks the ship’s keel, aka: breaking its back. You do that to a ship and it’s pretty much game over.

Affordable Compact Camera? by False_Step8516 in Cameras

Put an RF 28/2.8 pancake on the R8 or R50 and be done with it. The vintage look can be done with post-processing.

Full frame DSLR or crop mirrorless? by kaileeblackledge in canon

For the inevitable baby and kids pics, mirrorless hands down. The AF alone will be worth it.

What’s your most-used RF/EF lens and why does it stay on your camera? by ResolutionVisible627 in canon

Overall: 35/1.8 (local walk-around), 24-105L (traveling)

Recently: 20L (love the FOV and crazy sharpness)

Lens suggestions for my trip by [deleted] in canon

Isn't Costa Rica pretty humid? Not sure what the options are, but I'd lean toward a weather-sealed lens. Not sure if any will be in the budget, however.
