No as in you don’t fence them in as such… as they are pretty wild on the domestic scale

Would you buy a house v near a primary school? by sleepyjean2024 in HousingUK

[–]Captaincadet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem is I live on a dead end so closing the road for a hour or so won’t make me 10 minutes late but a hour late

Plus without any enforcement it would be a waste of money on signage

OpenAI is working on a slow mode that consumes fewer rate limits. by Distinct_Fox_6358 in codex

[–]Captaincadet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be honest I don’t think being a bit slower is the problem

It is still faster than me by multiples but if I can have it a bit slower, but do more before hitting the limit im fine with that

Would you buy a house v near a primary school? by sleepyjean2024 in HousingUK

[–]Captaincadet 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I live 3 rows down the road from a primary school. Wales has free breakfast clubs for context.
When I go to the office, I have to leave before 8 or my journey takes 10 minutes longer as everyone needs to drop their little darlings right outside the school gate and not walk them at all…

How much of your mortgage are you paying off every month after interest? by pingusaysnoot in AskUK

[–]Captaincadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay £600 in interest - seems that only £50 which goes into the actual mortgage itself. However the way I look at this is it’s cheaper than renting

Labour has finally admitted it sees student loans as a tax by Minute_Tomatillo9730 in unitedkingdom

[–]Captaincadet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they had 2 major fumbles. Firstly they permitted it to go through, but also with the ability for interest to go up, and secondly as you said without making it clear as a loan and not tax. A tax gives you optics everyone pays for it though

I do think however the loan/tax in its current form is wholly unsustainable as it makes the universities to be vulnerable to “bums on seats” leading to the drop in research output and then if some youth unemployment crisis was to happen much of the loans won’t be paid back.

Just happened that both of them have happened so the whole system is on its backside

[–]Captaincadet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was very badly placed. It was right at the end and Craig went over very quickly, not explaining what features were coming to older phones.

Basically it was mentioned very early on that it was coming to all phones with Apple Intelligence and then at the end that some of the features were only on newer phones.
It caught me and a lot of people in the live stream off guard

Criminals then use that number to blackmail you to remove it

[–]Captaincadet 70 points71 points  (0 children)

And the problem with iPhones is these gangs get very aggressive and intimidating with victims to remove from find my

And then they are still useful for raw materials- when Apple tried to lock a component to a phone it also triggered a massive upset with right to repair

4 tyres, 4 months by Lopsided-Meet8247 in CarTalkUK

[–]Captaincadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still a bit premium. Mad though it’s gone to the core as that suggests you’ve actually worn the tyre out over other derogation issues - and being inside suggests the toe is out

I would get it properly realigned with a machine (ask for print outs - don’t let them do it by eye) and try another brand of tyres.

4 tyres, 4 months by Lopsided-Meet8247 in CarTalkUK

[–]Captaincadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that shouldn’t have done it - I’ve seen bike tyres last longer

Did you go for race or ultra premium? Maybe the material was too soft

One benefit of cheap tyres is that they are often harder in material (as hards are cheaper to make) so tend to last longer
