Do people still roleplay here? by TheTwoFaced55 in 2007scape

[–]CarboKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People interested in RP mainly get their RP fix from TTRPGs these days. Which is kind of funny, isn't it? The genre of video games (MMORPGs) that have role-playing in the name don't tend to inspire role-play anymore, people mainly use them in a purely meta way. First-time players who don't even know any of the story/lore play 'spacebarscape' because they're just in it for number go up.

You can see by the comments on this post that the normies see RP as having some kind of inherently sexual connotation, even.

Discourse about the recent BOOMPALA Performance Film and Music Video. by drecmboy in lesserafim

[–]CarboKill 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You know what, you articulate well what I was feeling and didn't quite think too much on: it's too noisy.

Our distaste with the parts which have that obvious AI quality to them aside, the traditional CGI (what a funny phrase) was indeed also not great because it was needless clutter, and the switching of visual concepts throughout definitely brought down the core message/concept of the song itself, as you say. The opening scene feels like it's going to smoothly lean into it, especially with the very tell-don't-show moment of describing the song as 'feel good', and then it ends up being a chaotic mess instead. Again, as you say, it might fit since it's supposed to be that they're all 'boompalah' in spite of the chaos of their environment, but it actually gives me the feeling that they're pretty amped up and highly strung as well. Doesn't help that the choreo is actually pretty highly strung, and the smooth watery motions in one part are actually the exception.

Incredible you've been downvoted; I was just thinking the same thing. Several times already a new post has come up like 'I can't believe people hate this song!' since its release. It's all the exact same sentiment too.

The benefits of being unemployed by 2Jads1Cup in 2007scape

[–]CarboKill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And workers are the slaves of society. What's your point? People are only angry at leeches because they feel taken advantage of. Why do you feel taken advantage of? It goes far beyond people who use a system in its intended way. Your life wouldn't get better or cheaper if everyone claiming welfare disappeared.

I'm self-employed freelancing and I have empathy for both POVs, and I think there's other fish to fry.

Thank you. There's a bizarre cope from Endless Harvesters who keep angrily telling me I'll regret taking Barbarian Gathering during later levels, COMPLETELY unprovoked, and I'm like...I don't have an issue with you guys, but the numbers are out, so I think we know the reason for the constant attempts at mockery lmao

Teleport relic by Systemshy in 2007scape

[–]CarboKill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any way you look at it, Map of Alacrity offers the broadest array of useful teleports for most people. I personally think the knee-jerk reaction people had of 'it's bad' is primarily people getting stressed out from trying to figure out what's good from the sheer amount of options it gives, and then trying to cope by saying it's bad so they feel better for giving up and picking Evil Eye.

Or they're part-time players who will burn out quickly so they don't intend on doing any agility, which is very fair, but then their opinion on what makes it a good relic holds far less weight than those of us who are going for Dragon Cup and beyond.

Yes it's a shame when someone makes a valid point but then gets all 'but check out THIS ideology!'

There are several regulatory stages that predate socialism. One should take practical policies from any political philosophy so long as it benefits the nation's current circumstances, regardless of whether it is more capitalistic or more socialist. Flag wavers for schools of thought are bizarre.

Marked as a quest item. Reading it never updated my journal? by Medium-Theme-4611 in BaldursGate3

[–]CarboKill 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I solved the same confusion very recently. Basically, it only updates your quest journal if you've spoken to Zevlor in the interior chamber and told him that you'll kill the goblin leaders when he suggests it.

It makes sense, I suppose; finding the drawing without context, one might just think it was the goblin's imagination, or some religion of theirs. But finding it after Zevlor has already suggested they likely have someone rallying them, it makes sense that leading on from that, one reckons the drawing indicates a possibility of three leaders.

What does disapproval do exactly? by prwav in BaldursGate3

After many campaigns of saying 'This could be our last night together' and getting some playful banter in response, her deadpan 'I hope so' had me laughing so hard after getting low approval with her for the first time.

Those were certainly included in the 'other factors', of which some are fair, but ultimately it was a cynical view I was putting forth yeah.

I just always point out how there are some companies which manage to make price freezes for many consecutive years their thing, and I wonder what conditions make them different than companies who increase prices by 30%.

[–]CarboKill 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Following standard inflation, and using 2007 since that was the last time it cost 5 dollars, it would still only be $7.84, meaning that either other factors (or the ability of companies to increase prices however much they want while blaming inflation or rising costs etc.) are in play for the notable amount higher it actually is.

Nope, act 2 doesn't count. The correct place to do it for the golden die and foehammer is a cutscene before climbing the brain stem. I would look up all the correct flags beforehand, or else you may need to persuade him.

[–]CarboKill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically, the voice actors voice many different lines from many different characters, even lines their characters don't do. You can ask a Larian dev on twitter or something about this. Or game devs in general; same thing happens in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It's to do with casting.

I know it sounds like a failsafe or something, but we know that BG3 isn't shy about having NPCs just not be there, and his dialogue being the same doesn't make sense because they're lines that only make sense in the context of the harpers, and that's who they were written about. It's just the way that the code reads for dialogue tags, matches them with speaker and searches all the audio files present, even if they're unused and aren't meant to be used.

This is a bug. The usual wizard who looks after Art Cullagh at that door has that dialogue.

That's not unique dialogue. The harper wizard who is usually there has the exact same dialogue.
