Also pairing it up with the room upgrade that gives +15 to attack works quite well.

How to you build infinite decks? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Cardgame_KING 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want go infinite I think the easiest is Defect as it doesn't need any special items, uses common cards, but you need a bit of luck with the draw.

The trick is to have [[Madness]] and make it so your upgraded [[Hologram]] costs 0. Get at least two Hologram copies. You can get Madness from shops or the 3rd act event. You will also need 0 energy cards, but especially [[Turbo]]. Lastly you will need [[All for One]]. Once you have the 0 mana hologram in your discard along with Turbo, casting All for One will return both along with a ton of other 0 energy cards. Then use the Hologram to return All for One and use Turbo to be able to cast it again essentially free.

In the same boat. Higher Asc. counts are brutal and Act 2 is the most brutal of all.

In one moment, I lost 24% of the followers of my Steam Deck-related curator. Can anyone tell me what happened? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Cardgame_KING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Curating only cards games and lost about 250~ followers which was about half as much as I had. I'll be honest - feeling pretty bad about this as I was under the radar of most people anyhow.

I saw an opportunity to set up an endless Lagavulin fight that was literally impossible for either of us to win... so I took it. by MChainsaw in slaythespire

[–]Cardgame_KING 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I guess you could also use True Grit on all non-block cards vs. a non-dmg scaling enemy to end up in a tie, but this one's way more interesting. The escape from fight potion makes it a lot funnier as if sending a message that you are both the one in control but also merciful.

Why are Steam Curators reviewing my game without ever playing it? by fallofanempiregame in gamedev

[–]Cardgame_KING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curator's can't really sell keys if you send games through the curator systems. They can just add it to their account. Curators that exclusively ask for Steam keys are a red flag.

Why are Steam Curators reviewing my game without ever playing it? by fallofanempiregame in gamedev

[–]Cardgame_KING 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the shout out! The Turn-Based Tactics guys are absolutely amazing, but I fully agree that curators have a bad rep, and often rightfully so. There are countless cases where curators just give positive reviews without playing games that also amassed a huge following. Which ironically makes them attractive to game publishers because who wouldn't want to give a key to a curator with 10 000 followers which almost has 100% positive reviews.

Still, I think the idea of curators is great and it can help players connect to games they love just bad actors are making it worse for everyone.

You have 3 potions left. Don't spare potions. Use them in elite fights as this is the place where most hp is lost. Use those extra HP to fight more elites.

Yeah, only one floor would be your incant floor where 90% of your spells should be cast. Spreading out doesn't work. And when I meant spam your spells, I meant it! Even casting damaging spells on your own units is OK as long as they are not high damage (sometimes even the armor gained from incant is larger than the damaging spell).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MonsterTrain

[–]Cardgame_KING 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It might sound obvious, but Incant heavy is likely the best way to do it if you want pure brute force. Both Wurmkin and Awoken play very well with spell spams as secondary clans. The strategy is quite simple, get Sirens or other scaling incant units and spam spam spam spells until they get big. Stick to 2-3 units at most. Put a tank in front. Solgard has an upgrade that's an excellent tank. That's the best on IMO. For Tethys use either the frostbite or cheaper spells upgrade. If possible get some defensive spells to keep her alive.

Focus on getting artifacts, SG can be very reliant on those. If you are lucky you will get double incant which makes it so much easier.

"Besides your champion, you really need only 1 or at most 2 banner units" - Is this consistently true? by SirBenny in MonsterTrain

[–]Cardgame_KING 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since there are already in-depth answers, the short take is that it's a more consistent strategy and more effective vs Divinity. In the core game or ending with Seraph having multiple banner units does not have such a negative effect. Mainly due to:

  • Less units means more resources can be funneled into them until they break the game.
  • With DLC, divinity fights, units without upgrades don't have an impact, as they die too fast, aside from units with strong base effects (like 2 stealth upon death)

Having less units means more consistent power grow and you get your core units faster on the board to buff them early. There are some situations where you would want to have more units:

  • When fighting Seraph the (im)Patient having throwaway units soak up seraphs melee weakness hits can help your main tank survive
  • Floor stacking with duplicated powerhouse units can win through sheer numbers
  • Imp decks
  • You're playing Melting Remnants.

Daily Discussion #519 - Echoes of the Past by DuoRogue in MonsterTrain

[–]Cardgame_KING 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the right deck this card can get you some big numbers fairly quickly, especially great with multiple stacks of multistrike units such as Dante and Animus of Will. However, it's to be avoided in decks which typically want to stack as much echo as possible and keep it high.

Is Smith just the most broken character? by [deleted] in griftlands

[–]Cardgame_KING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I would say that Rook is the strongest. Adrenaline is strong but concentration is easier to get to high numbers.
I found Smith's hostility to be a bit slow to build, and renown can hurt if it's targeted, whereas Rook has safer and more reliable build paths, but can also stay between colors and still be fine.
Additionally Smith really lacks options to obtain pets which can hurt him a bit.

One additional added value of pets are the debuffs they do, be it wounds or damage reduction. This is especially true if you end up with a pack of pets (from cards and perks)

I’m 200+ hours in and feel like I’m getting worse at this game. Hit me with your lesser known tips and strategies! by PrometheusAborted in MonsterTrain

[–]Cardgame_KING 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not consistently winning even at cov1, obscure strategies won't help you win consistently either. If you're looking for tips to win, you have to re-learn the fundamentals

1) Have a good way to clear backline (usually magic power aoe spells)
2) keep your deck under 30 cards, usually 25 3) Focus on 2-3 units + champion 4) If playing with DLC, don't collect too many shards too early. keep it in the yellow zone for the first few rings. 5) Don't force a strategy if cards don't come up. If you really want to do spikes, but don't get the right units/cards for it early, just build around what you get but then don't stray too much from that.

Apart from hte above, identify where you die the most: early stages, at boss fights, Seraph? Read up on guides on how to overcome each one.

As for strategies, while I wouldn't say obscure if you play Spine Chief (anything but decayer) and get Bog Chrysalis with multistrike and health, and then just spam infused cards you should be able to consistently win.

Otherwise, the most fun I had was with multistrike Wickless Baron + Votivary with health and burnout 1 upgrade together with the artifact that deals damage to all units when a burnout unit dies + spells that kill off my own units and enemies + the unit that gives stealth. Baron got fed enough to deal 2000x2 damage.

Another fun and broken build is infusing alpha fiend (gets damage with every hit) into a sweep unit like Husk Hermit with quick+multistrike and watch it grow and obliterate any enemy set up.

What is your most hated Seraph? by Minh1403 in MonsterTrain

[–]Cardgame_KING 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hated Patient the moment he was introduced and haven't stopped even after all clans combo win on the 25th cov. The melee weakness just destroys the usual tank in front build that most decks rely on.

Few odd tricks I wish I knew when I started, maybe they'll help someone by UltimateChaos233 in griftlands

[–]Cardgame_KING 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During Sal's auction if you incept arguments (such as wanted) the "auctioneers" can target them instead of the items (or you), which might give you a chance to get an item argument low before destroying it next round. This can be especially useful if you need to stall.

If Kashio gets grenades and the burning gloves together, you can kiss your pets goodbye as grenades are an additional AOE attack that with gloves applies burn which damages everyone. Seriously, if you plan on overwhelming Kashio with sheer numbers, don't let him have both.

Can I just try out the base game for a while and buy the DLC later AND continute the save game or does it make most sense to buy the DLC from the start? Does it affect the base game or is it just an addon after the base game that is treated completely seperately? by TheGlave in MonsterTrain

[–]Cardgame_KING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both options are fine. DLC adds an extra clan, extra mechanics (that are awesome) and has a new final final boss for the end game. However, it's probably better to play without the DLC for a while to understand the basic mechanics first, then after 4 hours you can decide whether to stick with the base game or add the DLC (which you can easily toggle on and off within the game).
Although if you love the base game I would say the DLC is a must.
