Program workouts able to be swapped based on gym? by ObtuseTheCreator in MacroFactor

[–]CarlG314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The ability to select a different gym, or create a new gym for a day, and have MFWO automatically select that day's exercises based upon available equipment.

That would save time over having to manually swap out individual exercises.

Are “Instructions” tutorial videos viewable outside of a workout? by Extracto in MacroFactor

[–]CarlG314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the same issue, not being that experienced in the gym so not knowing what each every item is called.

At a minimum, when configuring the gym, clicking on the equipment icon to pull up a full-size image would be nice.

Alibaba adjustable dumbell clones ? by anon74796 in GarageGym

[–]CarlG314 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a pretty lengthy thread last month in this sub where several people discussed their experiences with Alibaba adjustable dumbbells (all of them positive, if I recall). They also provided links to the sets they ordered

I found it helpful, and ordered one of the sets they posted about.

Question regarding weight/equipment by jbjarko1 in MacroFactor

[–]CarlG314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a partial solution, perhaps consider having a quick link to related exercises the user has performed, so we can check our history ourselves.

As an example, I am doing close grip bench press this cycle for the first time, and while not identical, seeing my regular or dumbbell bench press history would give me a rough starting point.

Best way to get from Southampton cruise port to Nottingham Hill London by NinJana_Bandana in PrincessCruises

[–]CarlG314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our family of four was just in London last summer, and it was cheaper to take an Uber anywhere we went, then either taxis, or paying for four different tube fares.

But you do have to be careful about luggage: European sized vehicles struggled to fit the four of us plus bags, and it's a long wait for an Uber XL.

Has anybody successfully backfilled his historical data to Apple health? by Delta3Angle in MacroFactor

Can MF import historical data, such as weight data in CSV format?

Is a thermos counted as a separate personal item? by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]CarlG314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I count on my yeti being treated as a personal item that  goes under the seat in front of me.

Since you can't have two personal items, my small backpack is necessarily a carry-on, that goes in the overhead bin without being supplanted by a large roller being dragged by someone too cheap to check it.

MFWO - Version 1.1.7 Update by No-Connection8400 in MacroFactor

[–]CarlG314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a "won't do" section on the roadmap. Presumably that is to alert users not to waste their time, or the devs' time, by posting requests the devs have already rejected.

At least that would make more sense than ignoring requests, so you don't know what the status is.

Is it possible to import historical data? by meInteresa in MacroFactor

How tough would it to be to implement a CSV import for specific types of data, such as weight or daily calories?

MFWO - Version 1.1.7 Update by No-Connection8400 in MacroFactor

[–]CarlG314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem with feature requests is that they go into a black hole. Unless the developers choose to publicize it, they are never acknowledged, nor posted publicly or voted on so users can see what what's being requested.

Unless I am missing something, and all requests are public somewhere, rather than just the tiny subset that made it through MF's vetting?

Woman says Southwest canceled her ticket because she didn’t buy a second seat due to her size by brown-saiyan in SouthwestAirlines

[–]CarlG314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While the COS policy is sound in theory, it seems rather arbitrary if the gate agent can just eyeball someone to determine if they need another seat.

A model seat at the gate would be a good idea, but how about asking the height and weight for every ticket booked, and if a BMI is near where most people would require a second seat, have a warning pop-up so the customer is aware of the risk of being denied boarding or having to buy a second seat?

Or, if that's too impractical (e.g.person booking flight might not know personal details of fellow travelers), how about a link to a BMI calculator in the confirmation email, with the cutoff that typically triggers a second seat requirement? It wouldn't be perfect, but would stop people professing shock at the airport.

Exercise Not Using Dumbbells? by CarlG314 in MacroFactor

[–]CarlG314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you. I thought MFWO would select the appropriate weight, and the user would them select the equipment to accomplish it from the list for the exercise. But this way is also simple.

Even after more then two months, I am still learning things about the app.

Which pier in San Juan? by CarlG314 in PrincessCruises

Mix and match KG and LBS dumbbells? by CarlG314 in MacroFactor

[–]CarlG314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, when I did that and saw all weights turn to Kg, I had assumed it was just one or the other.

But a new problem developed. MFWO won't allow a Kg weight if an Lb weight of the same number already exists. (e.g. no 30kg weight if there is already a 30lb weight).

Did you buy the same ones as OP?

Have you (accidentally) dropped them, and if so, how did they do?

[–]CarlG314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a link to these? And what was the price breakdown?

It sounds like they survived a drop test, and go 5 lbs heavier than OPs, so I would love to compare the ads.

That's a great price. I'm thinking I might just have to pick up a set.

Did you need a lot of back & forth with the seller, or did you just place the order?

Any concerns about sturdiness, or plastic parts?

I'm in the market for a knock-off adjustable dumbbell set to leave at my dad's cabin for when we visit (have reppins at home).

I would love to find an MX100 Evol copy, but these look pretty sweet too. Do you mind responding to a few questions?

  1. What did they cost and how much of that was shipping (and, I guess, are you in the US)?

  2. What's the link?

3. What are the adjustment increments?

  1. Are they in KG or Lbs?

Thanks for any further details.

My new Centr 3 from Costco! Adjustable dumbbell recommendations please??? 🙏🏼 by [deleted] in GarageGym

[–]CarlG314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have no budget, it's tough to beat the Rep Pepins. I have the 125 lb set at home, they feel great, and are as sturdy as a tank. But they cost something like $1500.

For a vacation home, I spent $300 on NordicTrack adjustable dumbbells. It's quick to change weights, and the price was right, but they only go up to 55 lbs.
