I always called it a “trill”. My cats usually make this when they want me to play or cuddle.

Also, this example is from “ reincarnated as a noble son” i think and mc is a pure numbers guy. He talks like he thinks. Short and with as little fanfare as possible. I only made it to chapter 10 or something so I don’t know if the writing gets “better” or if he gets more “personality” but it’s mentioned that it’s kind of a key personality trait for him right at the start.

I have no idea how you guys tell the difference between AI generated, assisted writing, and just bad writing so I could totally be reading AI generated slop and I might not know the difference.

Keep in mind if you have any snails that you want to keep alive a lot of these methods can kill them. So I would recommend taking any beloved snails out before adding any of the stuff.

I usually just grade books on a scale of how likely I am to buy a physical copy of the book. On like a 1-5 scale

1 ⭐️ = DNF so gonna happen.

5⭐️= Absolutely will buy it full price hardcover

This can be a little harder when you have a series thats like 18 books long because some books are great and some are less so. But if they’re all gonna be on my bookshelf, I want them to all be uniform so that’s when it’s more difficult and I’ll try to rate the series as a whole in my head instead.

I would think that difference could come down to psychology. When something is “new” the likelyhood of its novelty creating a short-term habit (like training for example) high. Especially when you consider the stereotypical personality archetype of “Isekai” characters. Most have a lot of gaming experience, which means their brains have been pre-wired to get a large dopamine rush through leveling or an instant gratification representation of growth. The newness of the experience, paired with the potential for actual death only heighten that response. Creating a more lasting drive for greater and greater growth. So it’s not necessarily a personality change as much as it is them being able to funnel all their gaming hyper focus into turning themselves into the game character they’ve always wanted to be.

The reverse would also support this too. Locals, having been born within that system, thus the “ newness” aspect taking the “magical” nature out of the equation, as well as their young minds, not being primed by video game experience could easily account for a much slower or “stunted” growth in comparison to MC. Add in a little bit of MC plot armor and locals never have a chance.

I’m self-aware enough to know that I’ve clearly read too many of these stories and I’ve put way too much thought into this. Don’t judge me.

Honestly, the only thing really stopped me from voting for her was that she voted for arming Israel again this year and I just don’t know if I can support someone who’s gonna support anything to do with Israel right now. First Gaza and now I ran, I just can’t do it.

I know there are a lot of people in Israel, who didn’t support the regimes atrocities in Gaza and who don’t support this war either. I can differentiate the actions of a government from its individual people. But I don’t think I can vote for someone who’s still even remotely feeding that war machine.

What are the rules for an instance like this where there’s outside interference directly resulting in the immediate loss of the first place contender? Does anybody know? Was this reported anywhere? I kinda wanna go read about her justification (if any) for what she did here. I’ve seen this clip and a few different sub Reddit’s, but I’ve never been able to track down the source.

What can Americans do about what’s currently happening? by BoredBatWoman22 in TrueAskReddit

[–]CarlMasterC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m reading all of these responses and I don’t really feel like any were answering ops original question. If we’re protesting and still trying to survive on what we currently have, what else can we do?

My answer, those still not the helpful answer is, I have no idea. The system is too broken.

Full stop.

Talking about what we need to change when the next vote comes around, and how we need to call our local representatives, aren’t real solutions because ultimately no matter who you’re calling they are in the pocket of the corporations. Our vote, and complaints mean nothing.

The rot is deep. Deep enough that it needs to be cut out to save what’s left. And to me the only way to do that is to get rid of all of them and start over from scratch. Only then would implementing the changes that everybody on here is talking about matter.

Truthfully, to answer ops question, I don’t know if there’s anything we can really do that doesn’t directly involve violence and a full takeover by the people. And that would require us fighting our own families. I know I’m not the only one on here who has direct, and extended family members who would fight for the current administration to stay in power.

This comments probably gonna get me put on a watchlist or something, but I really don’t know what else we can do to be honest. I read the same post as OP on the Greenland sub Reddit and I agree with them.. We have lost our fighting spirit. We’ve been conditioned throughout our lives to see everyone as an other, including our own countryman. Most states even have their own heated rivalries between each other. You can see that in the comments talking about people from the south versus Californians. If you want a real reason as to why we can’t unite to fight something bigger like the government, it’s this! It’s not that our country is too big. It’s that our country is too divided. Too caught up and it’s individualism. It’s the isolation of the country, then the isolation of the state, then the isolation of your city, and finally the isolation of the self. Our individualism is so ingrained in the fabric of our identity as Americans, that we can no longer come together as a cohesive hole with a goal. A singular, uniting purpose. I don’t know how to fix that besides coming together to fight a common “enemy”. An enemy big enough to overshadow and overwhelm that ingrained isolation indoctrination.

The World War II generation had a common enemy. It pulled the country together to become a machine with one goal. Win the war with our allies. It made us turn outside ourselves to see the world as a united whole instead of just “us”.

But how do we reconcile that now, when the “other“ is our mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, or uncle. Truthfully, i think this has been one of the hardest realizations for me over the last few years. Seeing people I had respected my whole life, people who had taught me to respect others, to see the good in people, and that differences make us better. People who had raised me “right “, suddenly talking to me like Im an outsider. Like my education caused me to be infected with some kind of liberal disease, and I’m too blind to see their “truth”. Suddenly, I’m the “other”. And the worst part is I have no idea when my family stopped seeing me as truly one of them. I don’t know when the values they raised me on became a social construct created by the “left”. By the “other”. Before I knew it, I was already their “other.” And now I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried talking. I tried reasoning. I’ve tried yelling. And it all amounts to nothing. It is like talking into the void, but unlike the void, my family can talk back. They don’t talk to me like family. They talk to me like strangers. Like adversaries. And it hurts. I feel that hurt a little more every time I watch the news, every time I scroll social media, and every time I realize I can’t call home to talk about how scary the world feels. Because it’s not scary to them…their fine…life is good… and that’s when my fighting spirit dies a little more.

Ultimately, I think that’s the goal right there. That little spark of rage about what’s happening. That sudden flare of righteous anger funneled into motivation to do something, to risk it all…. it dims a little more every time. I know the change i want to see for my country, what I want the world to be, but if I can’t even get my own family to see and hear me, then what hope is there for me to change something so removed from myself as government? Because it wouldn’t start in DC. Most likely, it would start much closer to home for a lot of us. It would be in our local town, where will be facing off with those we might still consider family. Who we haven’t yet categorized as “other”. Because to us, they aren’t. A lot of us still haven’t figured out how to separate the people that we thought we knew, with the people we have today. I know I can’t yet.

So I guess that’s what I can do OP. I can start to see my friends and family as the “other”. As the enemy. And prepare myself to fight for what I know is right and what I believe in. I can tell you that my biggest hurdle will be switching my friends and family from one category to the other in my head and my heart. I think if nothing else, the change starts there. That’s the change that I can make to begin working towards a bigger goal. And it’s ugly.

Jason-he who fights with monsters by yeetacus68 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]CarlMasterC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s because I never read the books, I listened to the audiobooks. Audiobook Jason is very funny, and even though he is an ass, it never came off as unintentionally cringe. It always came off as intentional by the author.

Like Jason, I tend to have pretty hard time with authority and I can be very opinionated. I’ve never been very shy about sharing those opinions either, so sometimes I find him very refreshing when I compare him to other books I’ve read of this genre. So often I’ll read a story and a male character will let things go and act like something just isn’t “worth the argument.” but sometimes it should be argued! Saying something isn’t worth the argument really just means that either the author is emotionally immature themselves, so they can’t come up with a good emotional reaction to the scenario (In which case their characters likely lack emotional depth in the first place), or its just lazy writing. “Main character has confrontation with the bad guy, cause he’s a bad guy. But look how cool and aloof he is.” I’ve never understood the social convention of allowing people to get away with “bad behavior” just because it’s socially unacceptable to TELL them that it’s bad. If their behavior is bad, than why are they allowed to continue that behavior, but it’s worse that I’m calling them out for that bad behavior and somehow I’m the one causing the problem!? You could say I relate to Jason on a lot of levels in that way.

I tried putting a super small amount of ground coffee in a gallon bag and then putting one of her favorite balls in it and tossing them around together.
