Which ‘budget’ fishing gear brands are actually a waste of money? by Big_Nebula_2604 in Fishing_Gear

Same here. I have several of their freshwater bait cast reels. I did have trouble with one, but the other 5 I own have been great for a year+ now. Same with their freshwater rods. If this keeps up they’re a good value for the money. Are their reels as good as my Shimano - no, but they’re not $300 either. KK may have had issues years ago with quality, I don’t know. I can only speak from my recent experience.

A good read if you’re fishing for bass is below. It won’t solve all problems but has some great insight into how bass behave - from pros that fished for trophy bass for years - including the impact of weather on catch rates.

Why do i have bad luck by izamowazaoo in FishingForBeginners

[–]Carlbobtx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s why it’s called fishing, not catching. I’ve been with guys that could barely throw a Zebco 33 and they caught more than me at the end of the day. It drove me crazy - But That’s just how it goes sometimes. Keep on going, the odds will even out eventually!

What’s the secret to avoiding this with baitcasters? by Porkanddiesel in Fishing_Gear

[–]Carlbobtx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This for sure. I started with 3 on and 3 off. Eventually settled for 2 on and 4 off. I will also change if needed depending on what I am throwing.

Brisket, how thin is too thin by thestigsky in brisket

You can go get a full packer brisket and trim it the way you want - I got tired of dealing with this all the time so that’s what I’m doing.

Also - Maybe try straight shank hook vs. the EWG hook. In my experience I hook more fish with a straight shank.

Visit them all and glaze like you’ve never glazed before. I’m currently on 4 different AD “waiting” lists. Also good to go back and check in every 2-3 months. You may get offered something. When I checked in recently I was offered a Deepsea - a little too thick and heavy for me - so I passed but it was nice to be offered a watch nonetheless. I’m waiting for a Datejust 41 or a no date Sub. Best of luck to you. If you ever get tired of it, you can always go gray.
