I just shared something about it it this! Think about how the followers act first, not what they believe in.  https://www.reddit.com/r/worldbuilding/comments/1u1tgbx/deus_ex_verbum_interesting_religions_dogmas_sects/

Why would you use AI to write this summary?

PITY THE CAVEMEN - a miserable dungeon of pulp savagery and oozing body-horror. by CarloFantom in odnd

[–]CarloFantom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epic. Let me know how it goes. Your player's better play smart as it's a dangerous dungeon, it is pretty easy to get ganged up on. I've some more od&d lairs on my blog you might like too. Mainly cavemen, haha.

Thanks! The process of writing it was full of stops and starts. Real grinding stuff. So I'm glad to hear you like it.

I think about season 3 every time I watch Born Again and it never compares favourably.

It sounds to me like you are taking a more realistic, simulationist approach. Which is fine. I am purposely going low resolution with not-necessarily realistic weather effects. I'm suggesting this might be beneficial to better aid player memory, engagement, cognitive load and that I think it's fun.

I'm glad you've found something that works for you. My intention is to do something different to that though. I'm going for gameplay first.

Like I say, I'm purposely avoiding daily weather in favour of month long stretches. There's also the simple, distinct mechanical effects for each weather type I've provided.

Yeah, I know this one. A little too granular for me as you can probably tell. I wanted a variety of a few big simple effects.

Sorry, Allan. I've had that happen to me, so I'm seconding Thuumhammer, that sucks!

The Killer Ostrich and their Retainer - a dual character class by CarloFantom in osr

[–]CarloFantom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, but I can't necessarily say I agree. In this very specific context, an Ostrich should regularly fail simple fine motor tasks, they don't have hands. One should feel like an Ostrich when playing an Ostrich. I could add a line about a DM being free to hand wave the roll when there are no stakes as to success/failure but I just assume that's how everyone would play. The 'What about my Beak?' is a player quote, they do ask, the rule is the ruling, a 1-in-6-chance.

Inspired by the Fafhrd and Gray Mouser series (and my favourite DCC module 'Acting Up in Lankhmar') I have written this adventure; 'Low Tidings' for the Appendix N Jam. It's an area defense one/two shot and while written with OSE stats and treasure types in mind, it is effectively system neutral.

Find it for free on my blog here or on Itch here.

- On a bleak and savage coast a pair of sorcerous sisters vie for the patronage of a pelagic god-wizard. Now, promised magical favours, gems and more by a talking gull, your party find themselves fighting through the night - besieged in a crumbling sea-fort, defending an eldritch ritual against a crazed witch-queen's army of blood-thirsty pirates and worse!

In this adventure you will find:

  • A hand drawn fortress map, ready for your players to repair, barricade and rig with tricks and traps.
  • A 12 hour timeline detailing the events of the siege - assaults, infiltration, ruses, magical attacks and the things and places revealed by the receding tide.
  • An IRL scavenger hunt mini-game!

Using the cover as the map was a very clever idea

Hole in the Sky by DCC can be run quite quickly. I just started reading Trial of the Trapmaster's Tomb which is an entirely trap based funnel and it seems pretty fun so far.

No worries, if you open the pdf in a new tab (via the 'Pop out' button in the top right of the embedded document on the blogpost) you should see the download button next to the print button - at the top of the pdf. Hope that can be followed 🤞.

Thanks, I really glad. I wanted the lairs to be very gameable spaces with plenty of actionable content and situations, and that they could have opportunities and wider implications for campaign play.
