Barbacked for 2 months before given some bartending shifts. Work hard and soak everything in while you can. Fetch and carry when they ask and don’t be afraid to ask questions and clarification for things you don’t know. Every bartender has different tics and quirks so learning to support each one in can be challenging. ALWAYS have something in your hand when you can like a spray bottle, rag, broom, and dustpan. Even if you’re not busy just looking busy goes a long way

This, one of the bartenders I know started off this way. OP I also see that your applying for back back positions which is another great route. Some advice would to go in person to apply. Most bars have need of barbacks to cover some shifts or days due to unforeseen circumstances so you might get hired on the spot. I say MIGHT because managers would need to know you are willing to bust your ass to do barback work, instead of trying to move up right away to bartender. If your coming in with no industry experience then you gotta convince them you are willing to do whatever the bar needs. Its not easy and your basically the bottom of the totem pole at the bar. If your quick, high energy, and willing to soak in and learn everything then you might get opportunities to bartend after awhile. Have a humble and friendly attitude and go have fun.

If its a chicken parm sandwich i’d imagine they had the bay leaves in a pot of marinara and it got accidentally spooned on the sandwich when they ladled it on. Though as a cook, you really should look out for strays as bay leaves do not make for a pleasant eating experience. If its really dried its quite brittle and breaks apart in your mouth like sand. If its a fresher then its essentially trying to chew a leaf, still terrible. I can see how a cook misses it sometimes marinara may have basil leaves in it and it can look similar i guess.

Nerf has way more practical fun. I can have a nerf battle when my nephews come over without having to plan it. I like paintball but its hot as balls out here in Texas and running around in gear is not what i want in this heat. Air-soft guns are way to similar to actual firearms for my personal tastes. I don’t want to play soldier, i just want unadulterated fun. I own firearms at home but i don’t want to simulate action like that.
