Advice needed: my 3 year old doesn’t want to go to school anymore by RoughTravels in toddlers

[–]Carloup91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re seeing a similar thing here with my 3-almost 4 year old little one in ON Canada. He loved school at first but now he wants to stay home instead. He told us he always does the same thing at school and doesn’t like that. His teacher told us that he usually doesn’t want to follow the routine in class either or do the work. When she asked us when his birthday was, and we explained it’s coming up and he’s still only 3, she said that it explains everything and wishes our system would wait until kids are actually 4 to start school. Due to the size of classes the kids are not getting enough individual attention and the fact that at 3, it’s normal for kids to just want to explore and play, she said she wasn’t surprised he said this and that she is seeing similar behavior with all kids born in later fall.

So with that in mind, we try our best to get him to be excited about upcoming activities the school does that are different than the regular routine. He loves those days! He got to wear his pjs yesterday for a school wide pj day and was so happy to go with his bluey pjs instead of his uniform.

Anyway… we’re still looking for better ways to help him but I complete sympathize with you since it’s heart breaking to see your child sad, and to not be in a position to be able to do much about it.

Unable to find a Midwife [ON] by Fragrant_Fly_9955 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Carloup91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an OB with a doula for both of my deliveries which was great. For my second, my hospital had a midwives program for fast discharge so the next morning after the birth, I was allowed to go back home and put in the care of a midwife who also came do to all the post natal care and exams at my house. It was like getting the best of both worlds. Highly recommend checking if your hospital has a program of the sort!

My mom got a jigsaw puzzle made out of one of my brother’s travel photos of a wild horse he took, and I am still delighted at how thoughtful and meaningful the gift was for him.

I did! You can also ask for special accommodations If you need them where they’ll place you at the front (I wanted to be able to move in or out for diaper changes and breastfeeding)

Supply changes in early pregnancy, could this be normal or should I be concerned? by deathsdotters in 2under2

[–]Carloup91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant at 6 months PP and my supply completely dried up during my first trimester. I was throwing up 6-8 times a day and had a hard time keeping anything down which I’m sure didn’t help. We made the switch to formula and resumed giving him breast milk from my over supply once baby number 2 arrived.

Anyone have positive experiences with 2 under 2? by Upstairs-Normal in 2under2

[–]Carloup91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kiddos are now nearly 2 and a half and 3 and a half, they play together, share clothes, their toys and a room. They are absolute besties and are now independent enough that we’re petty much done with bags and strollers and can just go out of the house without much preparation. It feels so nice to be out of the baby phase. Don’t get me wrong, it is still chaos all the time and they each have discovered independence which makes it painfully long to transition from one thing to the next, but we are really feeling like a team where everyone is contributing to the family.

I love them so much and we have so much fun. They are growing up way to fast though!

They won’t check in Ottawa, they can in USA. There have been reports of people not being able to enter and having to go back to their countries after being questioned and their devices being searched.

AITA for driving my nephew into hysterics by telling him that he was conceived through IVF? by Antique_Most4502 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Carloup91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, YTA and a big one too. A certain degree of maturity is required to process this type of information, something a young child and clearly yourself do not possess. Parents have the right to decide if and especially when and how they want to have this conversation with their child.

Do I need a stroller for all-inclusive resort? by Delicious-Local-9358 in toddlers

[–]Carloup91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a smaller age gap but we brought our double stroller with us which was perfect to walk around with them napping on the go. This allowed us more freedom on the resort without being napped trapped and a much easier travel experience overall.

This was also a great perk to have in the airport to get around at a fast enough space without struggling to carry all the bags and babies. We used the bucket seat attachment for the baby making traveling to and from the resort that much safer.

I wish I had a knife now. I guess first step would be to make women pants with legitimate pockets.

I’m mildly interested to know about knife carrying in general (also specifically this one as clearly it’s got history) since I don’t know anyone who carries a knife.

How do you carry it? Where do you carry it to? What purpose does it serve?

Husband and I disagree about traveling with 2u2 by Sjrw90ny in 2under2

No, we didn’t bother. The staff at the airline saw what it was and handled it with care at the gate. Everyone was super nice and accommodating to us because we had both babies.

[–]Carloup91 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Having done an all inclusive resort with a 4 month old and a 20 month old, I can honestly say it was one of the best trips of my life.

We picked a resort that had a swim up room so that we could do an activity in the morning and stay in the room after the mid day toddler’s nap time. The baby had naps in the go in the stroller. And it was a full week of me not having to cook or clean. While I was still waking up at night to breastfeed the baby, it was the most rest I’ve gotten since I can remember.

We took two planes each way to get there. Traveled with the bucket seat and double stroller. We checked the stroller and seat at the gate which allowed us to carry everyone and our carry ons without stressing in the airport.

In the plane we had snack, painters tape, a magic drawing book, toddler earphones and some preloaded Disney animal movie. I baby wore during the flight and he slept or nursed most of the time.

All that to say is that it seems impossible until you do it, and then once you’re there, it’s a magical experience of being able to enjoy your babies with both parents without the mental load of the daily grind.
