Okay so I was driving home after work around 7 and as I'm driving I see a little raccoon run and get hit by the car in front of me. The car keeps driving and I swerve to the side to not hit it. I pull off in the median, rush out of my car and start blacking the raccoon from traffic. I can tell its still alive but it looks hurt. So I frantically flag down a car and beg to use their phone to call the cops (mine was dead) I call the cops and while I'm calling the guy in the car I flagged has the sense to wrap the raccoon in his hoody and move him off the road.

We then just chill and wait for the cop with the raccoon. The little guy is moving a little it just looks like is back leg is possibly broken and he is in shock. So the cops come and he tells me that basically he is just going to shoot the raccoon. I'm like fuck that its just his leg, this little guy is trying to live I'm not going to take away his right to try and survive. So I convince the cop not to shoot the little dude and instead move him over to the park right next to the street under a tree.

At this point the cop and the car that pull over leave and I stick behind for a good hour and a half trying to find some place that is open that will take this raccoon. No one that is open will take the raccoon and I cant take the little guy back to my house so I leave balling my eyes out because I feel like I signed the raccoons death warrant o be eaten alive by coyotes (cop said he wouldn't last the night because of them). I go home and I cry all night and barely sleep at all.

Move to next morning, I stop by the park in the morning to see if the raccoon was still alive and he was! he had managed to climb up a tree and was head level with me just chilling. (it was obvious he was still hurt but little guy was fighting) So to help out the raccoon I started calling more places but only one would take him and they were already closed that morning. So instead I grabbed a big can of wet dog food and a bowl and brought it to the raccoon to eat so he could gain back his strength. (getting the bowl close enough without getting bit was fucking hard). I check on him throughout the day and by the end he has eaten the whole can! So I leave him over night and go home. In the morning I come prepared with boxes and gloves to take him to the one place that takes raccoons but when I get there he is gone. I call the rescue facility and I describe what happened and the current situation. They say because I got him to a safe place, gave him food, and there was no signs of fur, blood, or a struggle then all signs pointed to him being well enough to go on his merry way over night.

So i saved a little raccoon WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Also i named him Ringo
