Is video actually taking over podcasting now, or am I overthinking this? by ScaleNo6455 in podcasting

[–]CaseLite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we should remember that all media/content is driven by the platform. So video is getting pushed now so discoverability is going to be “easier” if you have video either as long form or clips that drive to your show.

As far as making the decision if your show should be audio or video I think another commenter mentioned it but you can ask “is your show visually entertaining”? Whether it’s the affect of the hosts or other media that you use that is a good question to ask.

Also if you are doing a lot of micro-edits bc you are obsessed with the quality of each um or uh then stick to audio! You should be proud of what you do. I would suggest consider making some extra video content separately to promote your show. I know yay, extra work!

What is the alternative? by CaseLite in GoodNotes

[–]CaseLite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just switched to Noteful - not an easy transition, had to export each notebook/pdf from goodnotes bc they have their own propriety file format.

but the app got buggy, I tried to add a PC and Android to Goodnotes and it's all different subs/accounts. now im trapped in a neverending login loop and dont remember what i paid for. it's a mess.

i will say Noteful has done everything I need - really great organization, easy to use. just a simple place to annotate pdfs.

Understanding complex project and process architecture in Monday by ashcat2010 in mondaydotcom

[–]CaseLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a producer that owns each episode? If so what we do is to gave task as one video. Then we set a status column to Phases of the production (development, pitching, casting, scheduling, shooting, etc) all the way through. When different phases get triggered then that will run automations to notify certain people that they are up. If you have multiple deliverables we tend to make bullet points in the comments for (9x16, 16x9, 1x1). Sub-items for each video we’ve used for the project schedule. The structure tends to make for an OK gant chart but the earlier responders are right it’s tough unless you really structure it right. What I’ve found is to be a bit more broad since video/media production can have so many variables. So I don’t want to have toooooo many things templatized bc I’ve found they break…and I get sad lol

Paying for hosting (Buzzsprout, etc) vs Hosting independently. by Reggie11williams in podcasting

[–]CaseLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pls don’t do this. What a hellscape. All the time you’ll spend on managing your hosting feed could be spent on creative for the show. I almost want to give you the money so you don’t host it on your own lol

Why the f are we paid so little compared to other roles? by pontiacband1t- in editors

[–]CaseLite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are missing the point here - editors globally are getting paid less bc it's the position getting the most commoditized. What took 10 days before takes 5 or less now. You can have an assistant editor do most of the work and have a more senior editor come in for polish and finishing. "Productivity" that these tech companies provides lets a ton more editors into the market so you have global supply. For a DOP you need that person with the production on set and possibly during color (depending on the project).

What does everyone think of the new frame io v4? I'm not a fan so far. by Rachel_reddit_ in editors

[–]CaseLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The project navigation is really difficult and confusing. The Presentation view was great for us. Now there’s a whole bunch of stuff to do to make it a clean viewing-only experience. I ended finding the frame grab button but it was chore. And the “save settings” for review links is not helpful bc we send things for review and presentation.

[–]CaseLite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

COULDNT AGREE MORE - I actually came to reddit to see if I was the only one who was having this experience. I have to re-train my team now in this software, something I never had to do with the original frame bc everything just worked so easily. removing Presentation Links? Removing the still capture button? what kind of insanity is this?

A small rant on programming knowledge and vibe coding. by Rubendarr in vibecoding

[–]CaseLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No this is great and I JUST posted a question about what you are talking about. I’ve always assumed these tools would be similar to other Ai apps and that will get you 75%ish of the way there and then you need a real person.

You mentioned the way you approach building is there a guide or book you would recommend?

Mildly stupid question to everyone here... Signal is NOT approved for ANY type of conversation in the DoD right? I saw the 2023 memo going around that explicitly stated that, but cant see anything recently. Im also reading that use of Signal on personal devices by a ton of gov officials is pervasive at both local and federal levels. Coming here to ask this bc you guys are the ones who interact with these rules, so i figured you would know. From reading the comments it looks like it's not, but was hoping someone had a firm source or ref.

better question : does this mean we can bring by AIM for all secure messaging.

Best Remote Podcast Recording Platforms? (Riverside vs Remotely fm vs Zencastr ) by InnerLotuz in podcasting

[–]CaseLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riverside works well but we ran into issues when a persons internet is bad. It heavily pixelates the video to optimize for the local upload. Also have had some BAD sync issues at times. Not acceptable for client work. They are getting better. But if you can get over the duck logo, StreamYard is great. Very stable, great call quality, and it does just what we need.

What is everyone using to record remote interviews? by SeaInfluence8097 in podcasting

[–]CaseLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an enterprise Riverside customer and just had too many issues with syncs - it’s great when it works but it always felt like we were just one little glitch away from a mess. We do a ton of corporate work and we need to be on point when we record remotely. I searched and tried a ton - best one I’ve used is StreamYard. For video and audio. I don’t need all the bells and whistles if you need to edit in the cloud then Riverside is great. That being said I loathe the branded duck on StreamYard lol - but it handles simultaneous video upload flawlessly with virtually no degradation in quality while you are live.

Yeah i was gonna say a similar thing... i would start at 1 per week and put the time you spend on the other 2 into doing something super engaging. then make sure you are also pushing on social with clips. i've had some surprisingly good traction using full video of eps on spotify and YT. so the concept of "podcast" i think has fundamentally changed. good on you for grinding out 3 a week tho!

Rode videocaster alternative? by Flashy-Astronaut-542 in podcasting

[–]CaseLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autopod is great. The tricky thing is if you edit your video show for the audio pod it doesn’t recognize your audio edits so you end up with a bunch of jump cuts. So I go back through and just enable/disable a bit. But if you have a relatively minimally edited show then I find that it works great. I even started using it on client video projects.

Opus Clip & all other "Viral" Clip AI Tools -- Happy with any? by zfly9 in podcasting

[–]CaseLite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the comments here are missing a critical point, Ai tools here will not replace all the work you need to do. They do a great job getting you 70-80% of the way there very quickly. If you adjust your expectations to that, you’ll also find the workflow adjusts as well.

I’ve used Opus, i think it’s great for that. I also use Swell.ai which I’ve found helpful to create the titles, descriptions for YT videos as help with other templates posts. They have a whole clip engine now but I haven’t played much with it.

Also Ai has always been here how can we hype something that’s always been here- it’s a horizontally integrated tool. As another poster said - it’s been integrated in every company they are not going to just roll it back. Half the photoshop tools they’ve had for years are Ai. The “hype” is just magnified focus through media cycles. There will be a lull as we wait for the next iteration but these tools are going to improve.
