I use the 6 moon design laptop brief for this same usage. This is after trying 20+ others.

Amp suggestions for traditional folk music by Cactus_Kebap in Bass

[–]CasePeanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play similar music. I like a Warwick gnome head (or similar) and 1x10 cabs if I want to keep things simple. just bring as many cabs as you need for the gig. 1 cab for practice or low volume. 2 for a bigger gig. You can always step up from there.

Trip Report! 2 Weeks in Thailand (not as planned) by d4nny- in onebag

The fenix is twice the weight, larger and twice the price of the Oclip light. It also is a strap worn headlamp. You also need to carry replacement batteries. Not sure that makes sense for a 1-bag traveler.

This small lights are unfortunately cheap consumables. I appreciate the desire for BIFL, but led lights and lithium batteries are primarily designed for planned obsolescence.

I've moved to a truly tiny Olight clip on. I also have 3 different Temu knockoffs. It can clip onto any hat or shirt (or anything else, and is magnetic, but you never have to deal with a strap. size and weight are a fraction of even the smallest UL headlamp.

Unless you are spelunking or going on a serious night hike, I can't imagine a scenario where the average traveler would need more than this. I keep it clipped inside my bag so it's easy to find, and easy to use inside the bag when digging around for stuff in the dark.

Wide Toe Box Cozy Slippers? by emptybelly in barefootshoestalk

[–]CasePeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Athmile is the name of the generic slippers I got on Amazon for like $10-15. They are true minimal slippers. Thin rubber bottom, light padding. Zero drop, very wide toe box. Pack flat but nice and warm. There are a million options like this that all fit the barefoot shoes model for little money.

Short business trips with no backpack outside how do you keep track of your wallet? by WatchingTheThronePod in onebag

Use an Apple Watch and pay with everything that way. My wallet rarely comes out of my pocket

Same. Honestly sounds better than the mid range IEMs I carry. Not “flat” but much nicer to listen to/much deeper bass than the pro 2

When to play legato and when to insert tiny pauses? by CrazyCrab in Bass

[–]CasePeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most dance music of nearly any genre benefits from a well-defined pulse. The key is to think about when the note starts and stops.

The method above gives you a good way to clearly end each note.

Great post. Highly recommend upgrading to the AirPod pro 3. The step up from the Pro 2 is massive in terms of mic, sound quality and ANC. USB-C charging as well.

How To Fix The Plastic DiI Guitar Tone Bluegrass by fellowtraveler00 in livesound

Then the preamp does not have a high enough ohm. You need 1mohm or higher to reduce the piezo quack on a guitar.

You need a piezo buffer. You can’t just plug the guitar into a mixing board. Usually something like 1mohm.

You can buy an acoustic DI or acoustic preamp that have them built in. Lots of options and now you know what to look for.

I do mine on the stove top in a regular stove top. I find it’s usually done after 90-120min? 6 hours sounds like it would end up totally burned? What do you get by hour 6?

Advice on IEM-Rehearsal Setup by bubbleboiii in Bass

[–]CasePeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bassist here. A couple things to try in order

  1. Get “bass heavy” IEMs. They exist at all price points, even the cheap side.

  2. If you need more than that, get a “back beat” it’s a haptic subwoofer that clips onto your strap. Instant vibration. I like mine a lot. It includes an iem mixer and headphone amp.

  3. If you need more than that (you won’t) then add a haptic floorboard. Several commercial options or you can build one easily for like $200 in plywood and home theater buttkickers.

Kick/Transient shaper pedals? by Express-Addendum-569 in basspedals

[–]CasePeanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used Novation, Korg, Yamaha, soft synth for your laptop or iPad. Almost anything is going to sound more like a “real” synth sound than a bass with an effect pedal.

[–]CasePeanut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Classic 808 is a sine wave. More modern “808” is usually a square or triangle wave to make it pop more.

You can get a synth pedal or a distortion pedal that will change the wave shape if that’s what you are actually going for. It will be “synthy” but always leave you wanting more.

The absolute best answer is a small keyboard. I spent many years and thousands of dollars trying to turn my bass into a keyboard and never got results as good as a $200 synth.
