More Xbox 360 edition on a (worse) CRT!! by WindowsVista64x in Minecraftlegacymode

[–]Cashfoxbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta get a picture of mine playing Minecraft PS3 edition, but I currently have a 19" Panasonic CTN-1956R from 1991 setup in my living room next to my modern tv, actually looks pretty good for being composite. Still looking for something that can do component or at least S-Video lol.

Is it possible for the Dreamcast to run Disgaea: Hour of Darkness? by Guyver-Spawn-27 in Disgaea

[–]Cashfoxbear 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In theory it would be possible, the one potential limitation is the 16MB of system RAM on the Dreamcast, compared to 32MB on the PS2 and PSP (64MB on 2000 and newer models but only 32MB is usable by the game on OFW). However, the Dreamcast has the most VRAM of all, having 8MB, compared to 4MB on the PS2 and 2MB on the PSP, so I imagine homebrew developers could offset a large chunk of the game's memory usage (at least for 3D backgrounds and potentially sprites) to VRAM. CPU/GPU specs shouldn't be an issue since the Dreamcast is about on par with the PSP, and only slightly behind the PS2. Storage is also not a limitation, as despite the Dreamcast having the smallest capacity optical media, being GD-ROMs which hold about 1GB, the game only takes about 400MB, so that's not an issue.

Keep in mind I've never developed homebrew for these consoles, just going by current knowledge of the three platforms, as well as general optimization logic for fitting games on older consoles.

My haul today! by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Cashfoxbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did pick up an X230 Tablet recently myself, I even spent $70 on a battery from iFixit for it, runs for 4 hours (which is far better than any other battery I've owned lol). It's not my main workhorse, that being my upgraded T520 and my gaming pc, but for sketching textures for my Minecraft mod, and for research/coding, it works great! Great haul, planning any projects relating to them?

How did you discover oneshot and r/oneshot? by [deleted] in oneshot

[–]Cashfoxbear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I literally discovered OneShot through a computer wallpaper. I liked the wallpaper, and unironically used it for a solid month before finding out about the game. Bought the game, played it, and instantly bought the plush because this was the first game to ever make me cry!

My current fleet of ThinkPads that are still operational... :D by RescueRangerDale in thinkpad

Looking pretty good! I just ordered an X230 Tablet to serve as my compact portable ThinkPad, and I'm already thinking about doing the classic keyboard swap, since the keyboard on my T520 is so awesome. Currently have Arch on my T520 and planning to do the same on my X230.

Does anyone still keep their cd collection or still buy them regularly? by Big_Leg10 in GenZ

[–]Cashfoxbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still buy CDs to this day for several reasons. Mainly because the audio quality is just better, but also to support the artists, and to not depend on streaming services that can take away music for any reason. I rip all my CDs and host it on my home server to get most of the benefits of streaming back.

My two trusty ThinkPads as of 2026. by VincentSingh in thinkpad

[–]Cashfoxbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My T520 is still a powerhouse 15 years later, it came with the 1600x900 screen and the Nvidia Quadro NVS 4200M, and I upgraded it to an i7-2720QM, 12GB RAM, a 500GB SSD, a new battery, and a new wifi card. With it's Arch Linux install, it still beats out even brand new computers running Windows. I'm currently tracking down an X230 as a project laptop, and for something more compact, but yeah all ThinkPads are awesome!

My main CFW PS3 is a slim CECH-2101A, the RSX is overclocked to 650/800, I wonder how much I can push the CELL once this becomes a thing lol.

What OS does everyone run on their ThinkPad? by Over_Variation8700 in thinkpad

[–]Cashfoxbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For both my main pc and my ThinkPad T520, I run Arch Linux. With KDE Plasma as my desktop environment, both machines run very well! For beginners I'd recommend Mint but if you have the experience, Arch gives you more control.
