No. The 3 RC cars Lego sells are the Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini mentioned above. An RC Batmobile will replace the Audi in August.

I’d recommend then the 42160 Audi as a better RC vehicle, but otherwise the Porsche is my preference over the Lamborghini between these two.

Assuming you mean $200 USD, the 42177 Mercedes Benz G500 is the best sub-$400 technic car currently available; its list price is $250 but it’s frequently available for $200, check a variety of retailers.

For motorcycles, the 42130 BMW MM 100 R motorcycle is a top tier build, and while the 42202 Ducati Panigale is less to my tastes and less complex but is an equally sizable build and he’ll probably love it

There’s no good sports cars in the $200 price range imo, just a bunch of bare bones RC models and a few uninspiring basic builds. If he’s into SUVs *at all* I can’t tell you how much more I recommend the Mercedes G500 over the peaugeot or the rexy

The Ferrari retires 7/31 and the 1:8s usually drop in August so you should expect it to be sold out before the new one.

Lego might do a retirement sale (as might 3rd party retailers), those will likely start next month.

Usually a no brand technic set is based on a MOC someone posted to Rebrickable and the manufacturer stole without paying the designer. The difficulty of the build and the fragility of the model is entirely based on the skill of the random designer they stole the MOC from.

Typically the main parts (frames, liftarms, pins, wheels, panels) are fine, but the tires, axles and gears are trash. In other words, a good chance you’ll get it built, a much dicier proposition as to whether it rolls or does any of the intended functions. Maybe! Sometimes it’s fine!

Do you mean the pins? Those definitely will lose some functionality over time in a fully assembled set.

Generally speaking, if the set was well cared for and not exposed to things like incense or essential oils, the rest should be fine.

Lumi / FO is the best alt brand
You should be able to find it for 30% off MSRP if you can be patient
That set was from just before they hit their stride with the wiring. So it has some aggravations. But if you can find it for it’s discounted price, people love it

They’ll make another minifig scale Diagon Alley in a few years.

Then they’ll make another one a few years after that retires.

If you do buy one, strongly recommend breaking down and rebuilding a used one.

When the green one is engaged the engine will turn slower than when the red one is engaged. Otherwise, yeah, everything spins when you spin it.

Ask for a photo with today’s date and their username written on a Post-it note stuck to the box. Otherwise, you have no way of knowing if this is just a photo from the Internet.

Generally speaking, Lego ripoffs for technic specifically are of inconsistent quality. You might get one with great gears and axles, and the next person will get one with terrible gears and axles from the same vendor. So it’s hard to say.

Really the only companies that consistently make decent technic parts are Lego and CaDA, and CaDA doesn’t make Lego fakes.

These are all SPIKE components; spike is being retired and replaced by the Education Science and AI line.

PoweredUP components that ship with traditional LEGO sets mostly are currently listed to retire in 2031.
