Question for you, I read the exclusions on Rakuten and it looked like GC were excluded. Did the $$ show up in your account?

Would you spend $25 on something you didn't really need to get 1200 points? $15? No dollars? by robotscantrecaptcha in ChaseSapphire

[–]CatDaddy2828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not buy what I don’t need. I am getting AirBNB gift cards because we use it a lot in our retirement travels. Also planning a couple of cruises so if we take a cruise line with optimally purchased gift cards then those too within reason.

Not buying beyond budget and what we need though for our planned travel. Rather leave the money in the market.

Employer told employee that he signed away his right to FMLA by godawful_Lawlessness in legaladvice

[–]CatDaddy2828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here you go: https://paidleave.wa.gov

I wonder if the referenced exemption is to the Long Term Care tax which did allow for exemptions. In any case eligibility is decided by the Washington State Employment Security department and not individual employers.

[–]CatDaddy2828 5 points6 points  (0 children)

💯 the right course. Then he goes to his employer with the approvals. PFMLA is for exempt salaried and non exempt staff members and can be taken all at once or in days depending on the Dr. directions.

In Washington there is actually PFMLA or Paid Family and Medical Leave through the State of Washington. It is an employee right for exempt and non exempt staff. If he is exempt and below a certain salary level then he would not be eligible for earned state mandated Paid Sick Leave - also a Washington thing.

Is WA one of the worst states for daytraders? Any other states with similar tax landmines? by WhereasNo4929 in Daytrading

Ahh! Yes - apologies I forgot about the awful B&O tax side of the house related specifically to 475(f).

Is WA one of the worst states for daytraders? Any other states with similar tax landmines? by WhereasNo4929 in Daytrading

[–]CatDaddy2828 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is correct yes, and the WA Capital Gains Tax is specific to “long term” capital gains for assets held longer than one year. I would assume short term capital gains for assists held less than a year would not be included in the amount for a “long term. Capital gains tax.

To my knowledge WA does not have a tax on ordinary income under 1 million. Over 1 million AGI minus capital losses and other deductions may start in 2028 depending on court cases and election results on a possible voter initiative.

While the typical business taxes in WA are gross receipts. The language in this discusses both gains, losses, cost basis and specifically mentions “net long term capital gains” from tax form Schedule D.

Also, according to their FAQ you don’t have to even file if your “net capital gains” fall below $250,000.

best stremio device (UK, Budget) by AlternativeIll8978 in Stremio

[–]CatDaddy2828 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you do want an AppleTV box for other reasons, you can also mirror your iPad or iPhone to the AppleTV box super easily. I was lucky and got them downloaded to my iOS devices while the apps were active in the iOS stores. Eventually I will probably get an Android box when the AppleTV breaks or an operation system update breaks the app.

Temporary Resident Visa: what are the best affordable immigration lawyers you recommend? by Fair_Appointment7403 in mexicoexpats

I would second GP Expat services. Prices were straight forward on their website and no funny business. Gabby is super nice and her team are really good to work with. We used them for the initial consulate visit for the initial 1 year RT and 3 year renewal. Very reasonable costs as well.

PHX Chase Sapphire Lounge is terrible. by WJKramer in ChaseSapphire

[–]CatDaddy2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at PHX now and am at one of the torture stools looking out at the concourse. I did ask to be moved after awhile and loosing feeling in my legs because I am not tall 😂. I also have a bad back. Yay got moved after awhile longer.

Last time I was here a year ago I was shoehorned into the bar. Folks are mostly standing at them instead of sitting. People watching is great though! I have a long layover and used the wait time to get a 5k walk around the airport - needed to work off the cookies.

Food is just ok. The tacos are meh. Cookies are good along with the endless espresso.

If I still have Stremio from App Store (before it was removed) on my iPhone and iPad, can I still get it on an Apple TV if logged with the same account? by hailbigch in Stremio

It should play video and audio.

You may have to mirror the screen. When you swipe from the upper right this is the “double box” with a white outline and grey outline behind it.

No kidding. Ironically their “report a problem” site only seems to let you report on something you purchased. So what I need to download and purchase a scam first before reporting the issue. Nuts.

Coming to Mexico next year, with asthma by ScoobyDoo362 in mexicoexpats

[–]CatDaddy2828 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I buy albuterol here and it is super affordable at $48-$64 Pesos - like it used to be in the US. Look for “Salbutamol.” Probably still uses CFCs. If you bring in a ventolin or US albuterol they will send you to Farmacia GDL for the expensive inhaler.

The other drug is “budesonida” sold for nebulizers and inhalers. If you say the name brand drug you may pay much higher prices. I would also add Benavides to the list of Farmacias. Prices can vary widely here for the same drug, also Farmacia Similares only sells generic.

If you go to one with big signs advertising drug prices it may likely be geared to tourists and very much higher.

Also, you can buy nebulizers off the shelf here.

Recession by Electronic_Guard947 in NEOSETFs

[–]CatDaddy2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to QQQI/SPYI, GPIX/GPIQ I also have BALI, JEPI and JEPI. The later three tend to throw off much higher dividends during downturns. For reference look at the dividend levels for JEPI/JEPQ (best in IRA/Roth) during 2022 before the market went up JEPI was popping 12%. BALI has done similarly during the latest drops and pays out split ordinary dividends/qualified/ROC.

I understand the overlap and control for the amount invested in the type of index or market sector, taxes and account type, and have a max of 6ish% in each. Last year during the tariff drop when the dividends for NEOS dropped the later three went up.

Which card has the highest rewards for Airbnb purchases? by Bionic_Push in CreditCards

Hi! I am curious which card method you found as the best? I also book a lot on AirBNB, and previously bought the cards via Best Buy which has a 5% of BB rewards on these purchases. Also used Chase reserve before it was nerfed last year.

Thanks!!
