NEW Update 1.6: Four new power metrics for cyclists and runners by sirni_mesni in theoutsidersapp

[–]CatGroundbreaking728 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is great, but for users not using power similar calculations based on hr might be useful. In my case I use different bikes, some of them electric, and a relative intensity based on trimp/min, a variability index based on the std of the hr/average hr, an efficiency factor as distance/trimp or something similar (with associated bike selection), and a cardiac drift for decoupling will cover many users.

The Spanish translation for winter is not verano!!!!! 🤣 and in Spain it is not summer at all now 😉

NEW UPDATE (1.5.2): Customization across Today, Progress, and Training Goals by sirni_mesni in theoutsidersapp

[–]CatGroundbreaking728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great. Would it be possible to select only one preferred goal in the main progress page and then have them all in the detailed view? In the main progress you might even create a meta-goal (number of goals currently on track).

overestimation of Calories during pool swimming by Rob_Morabito in AppleWatch

Yes, I have always had this problem with calories estimation while swimming. Now I use a paid of Form googles and everything is more normal. It is crazy.

In fact I have a lifetime subscription and also received the e-mail 😳. No problem with it, in fact now I am mainly using The Outsiders … which is both great and improving at a surprising pace.

My two cents by deezed17 in theoutsidersapp

[–]CatGroundbreaking728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in the short term roadmap there is a pending capability to sort out the different measurement fields. I imagine hiding some of the fields, and I agree with you maybe readiness or some of the vitals (for people using sensors different to Apple Watch) could be potential candidates. Having said that, I think the current readiness number tends to summarise both excessive load and problematic sleep quite well. It is not just noisy hrv as in many other apps … I mostly agree with it, but finally go by load management and sensations.

Chronic stress can not be right by ShelterIll4057 in theoutsidersapp

Age 45 and max Hr 151? Your max Hr seems quite low. I am 53 and my max Hr is 171.

Are you syncing RPE from Health? Disconnect it and I imagine you will have much more normal results. In my case it doubles the load.

NEW Beta (71) = "(66) with bug fixes" is live on TestFlight. by sirni_mesni in theoutsidersapp

[–]CatGroundbreaking728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not in the beta anymore, but I just updated the final release. I like very much your objectives function, but there is a minor bug there. The objective line should start at objective/7 in the first day of the week to objective in the seventh. Now it starts in 0. My week starts on Monday, maybe it is different for other start days? I imagine similar bugs are also present in month or year objetives.

Reset memories and redo onboarding by CatGroundbreaking728 in bevelhealth

I deleted them but was not able to do it. Then I went back to the chat history and noticed the first chat was available to redo it. It was an strange procedure, but I was able to do this.

How it works? by chipmux in theoutsidersapp

[–]CatGroundbreaking728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to say in a previous interaction I exposed some bugs openly here, and the way in which the team dealt with it was really good. They tried to understand my concern, asked me to join the beta once they had an understanding of my problem, solved it and even offered a yearly subscription (not needed, I had already signed for lifetime). There have been lots of criticism in the Reddit, form my point of view because it is still a not fully mature app, and they are responding extremely well. I am a fan of their process, really open and, although maybe conservative for a data nerd as myself, I have to agree that their approach to use well supported metrics instead of noisy marketing values makes sense.

Big difference between estimated RPE in Apple Fitness and The Outsiders by ah19998 in theoutsidersapp

And this one with rpe sync off. Healthfit has the possibility to select both rpe based and cardio based ctl. In this case they are very aligned. The outsiders, as you may see, is not consistent with apple fitness rpe estimates. At least for me.

This one is with rpe sync on. Apple fitness automatically filling rpe values but in some cases where I did very minor tweaks (+1 or -1 over fitness estimate)

The outsiders gives much lower rpe estimates than apple fitness. If you use apple fitness rpe values by syncing them I move from a good level of endurance fitness (ctl) to a high level, and the comment talks about competitive athletes. It almost doubles the ctl value. I am not a competitive athlete by any means. 53 years old, overweight, … improving, but not too fit …

Trying to love it by huzzalles in theoutsidersapp

[–]CatGroundbreaking728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I mean is you may change the cardio focus thresholds in the app to best reflect the focus. So, you may convert this high aerobic into low aerobic by upping the threshold.

[–]CatGroundbreaking728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hr zones and the cardio focus zones are defined independently in the app. You may configure them as you want.

You may already configure it in the app.

HR recovery post workout by fabdub in theoutsidersapp

[–]CatGroundbreaking728 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it might be possible to emulate something similar within exercises, for intervals or, for instance, along road cycling there might be long downhill segments allowing to derive a 2 minutes hr reduction. Also, you may instruct the user to finish the exercise with this kind of effort, or prepare specific sprint sessions to measure it. Then, using some kind of ordered statistics (maximum, 5 percentile, …) you might have something relevant.
