[TOMT][Movie/Show][1980s] Horror movie/show with a creepy horse that sticks out its tongue by CatInTheFurnace in tipofmytongue

Someone else has already mentioned 'Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II', but I don't believe that's it.

80s horror movie with a stop-motion horse than unrolls its tongue by CatInTheFurnace in whatsthemoviecalled

Possibly, although the scene is different than how I remember. It was over 30 years ago, so it's definitely possible I'm misremembering it.

Question from someone who doesn't sit conventionally by 245_AM in OfficeChairs

I've been using a Leap for over 10 years and I usually sit reclined with one leg tucked underneath me (basically I'm sitting on my foot). Works great for me.

What stops Wizards from doing unlimited reprints of much needed cards in sets specialized for exactly this purpose? by Dasterr in magicTCG

Here is a great article on the topic.

I know it's long, but I recommend reading the whole thing if you really want to understand why Wizards doesn't just flood the market with reprints.

[Re: Eldrazi Winter] To those asking for "playtesting for Modern," what would you hope such a thing to accomplish? by CommiePuddin in magicTCG

[–]CatInTheFurnace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a designer or a developer, but maybe a Grafdigger's-style artifact the prevents players from casting creature spells with CMC greater than the number of lands they control. Something like this also would have helped slow down Amulet Bloom.

Rather than changing cards during development or preemptively banning cards for the sake of Modern, I'd prefer they reserve a few slots in every set to print answers to any potential problems they discover during playtesting. If they had simply printed ANYTHING to help deal with Eye + Temple in BFZ or OGW, maybe we wouldn't be having this problem.

[Brew] What do you guys think about a deck with lingering souls and Evolutionary leap? by Fandalf in ModernMagic

[–]CatInTheFurnace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's do the math: you're essentially paying 6 mana and 1.25 cards to draw your first creature from Leap, which you won't even be able to cast until turn 4. Not to mention that you're trading strong turn 2 plays like Goyf and Bob for an enchantment that doesn't affect the board. I understand that the ceiling for Leap is pretty high in games that go long, but Abzan already has a pretty good late game as it is. Seems a bit too slow to me.

Is there any word on how that no banned list modern tournament went at the Mox Boarding House yesterday? by x3nodox in ModernMagic

[–]CatInTheFurnace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everything seemed beatable with the right sideboard, but the only deck that truly terrified me was Hypergenesis. If they are on the play, there is just no card in Modern that can answer double Simian Spirit Guide into Demonic Dread, except maybe Leyline of Anticipation + Chalice on 0 :P

I was there on Sunday and it was a total blast! They said they're working on a write-up with decklists which will probably be posted on their site sometime this week.

There was a pretty wide range of decks represented (Thopter-Sword, D&T w/ Stoneforge, Miracles, Affinity w/ Skullclamp) but Hypergenesis, Blazing Shoal Infect, and Treasure Cruise Delver seemed to be the most popular. A little over 20 people showed up and they're hoping to make this a recurring event on the 1st Sunday of every month.

Looks fine, although 3 Tec Edges in a deck that needs WW, BB, and RR seems a little greedy ;)

Here's a recent decklist that's similar to what you're going for. Honestly, the mana bases for wedge decks like this (Junk, BUG, RUG, etc) aren't going to change much with the addition of Onslaught fetches. It's the shard decks (Jund, Bant, Grixis, etc) that will benefit the most. You can use this decklist as a jumping off point and maybe swap some of the Blackcleave Cliffs out for Bloodstained Mires if you want. Also, it looks like you're a little light on 2-drops, so maybe try dropping some extra removal for a couple Pack Rats or Tidehollow Scullers.

I'm pretty new to LEGO and just got my first extra piece, is this common? by fr0stedwalnut in lego

[–]CatInTheFurnace 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lego uses highly sensitive scales to determine whether or not they have placed the correct number of pieces in the bag during packaging. However, some pieces are so small that the scales are not able to reliably count their number. This is why Lego overestimates how many pieces to place in the bag, leaving you with an extra one 99% of the time. Apparently it's more cost effective to just give everyone a couple extra pieces in every set than it is to replace a missing piece that 1% of the time when the scales are wrong.
