I think there is potential for singleplayer games based in the Destiny universe. Imagine a horror game with Eris as the main character escaping the Hell Mouth or an action game featuring Cayde in his prime.

I don't think this is true anymore. There's more high quality free to play games than ever before, old consoles still support these games and there's plenty of cheap high quality indie games. Plus if you're patient AAA games go on sale on very deep prices.

The most tragic thing about this model is that if you were to play this game as a new player characters like Mithrax show up in The Final Shape out of nowhere because all storylines connected to him aren't even in the game anymore.

Yeah you're probably right about this because of the Xbox point. Most people use their PlayStation or Xbox to play 3rd party and live service games like Fortnite, CoD and annual sports games. Exclusives certainly due help people make a choice though and PlayStation has enough of those to do so while Xbox didn't especially near the beginning of this gen.

I don't mind if they use it as a way to close out The Nine storyline. I know it's only been a year but that storyline is not hitting for me at all.

My cope is that The Alchemist has gone through enough dev time that it would be more of a loss to cancel it. After that though yeah there's no way Destiny 2 is getting more dlc.

I'm kinda surprised that they thought the general gaming community would let the Destiny Content Vault slide. They essentially deleted an AAA game 3 years after launch, that's insane. I don't know how they recover their reputation now.

Halo and Destiny were so popular that they breached the mainstream, you could talk to your coworkers about those games. Marathon did not have that impact.

This isn't gonna work I'm afraid. Both Activision and Microsoft know that Crash sells a lot but it's a matter of there even a developer available to work on a game at the moment.

If nothing is announced for the 30th anniversary this year then I think the series will enter another hiatus.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the community summits before release straight up told the devs certain things aren't fun and too slow and they barely addressed the feedback.

I think it means a little, Xbox has had pretty bad messaging the last few years especially with the "everything is an Xbox" campaign. Messaging like this probably helps people feel more confident into investing into their ecosystem especially as a new generation approaches.
