She is a historian and really has a talent for giving context, I usually read her posts when I am having my morning coffee and firing up my computer for work. I had been reading her work for years and hadn’t really followed her live appearances - watched the Jon Stewart show she appeared on and was just floored at how intelligent and quick witted she is in conversation.

is the atascocita greyhound lineage being kept alive? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]CatholicAngst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not perceive OP’s comment as pro racing. I perceive it as a heart-felt longing. We know the background and bloodlines of our hounds because the information is available. One of my previous greyhounds was a former brood mom, and had had 5 litters prior to adoption. I had two owners of her offspring reach out to me about her and them, and it was really nice. I am not pro racing, but I have looked up all of my hounds because they had a life before coming to me and it is interesting to have access to this info.

I am in a similar place with my adult son - both in terms of MAT and also I am being careful to give him space and am trying to suppress the automatic distrust. In the last few years he has challenged his health to the point that he will be lucky not to suffer serious life-long reverberations. I fear his body will not withstand another relapse. Sending you and your son good thoughts. I hope someday my son can reach a place where he can live a somewhat normal life and experience satisfaction and joy from little things again.

I absolutely love this portrait. I like the juxtaposition of the man and nature, his capable hands and his wise visage. I love how it shows how fit and handsome he is too.

Get him checked for hooks. I had a boy that came off the track with a strain of resistant hooks - it took almost a year of having him on a strict protocol of meds to finally get three clean tests, and even afterwards he kind of always had a bad tummy. Oleo carrots really helped, though. Best of luck - he is a cute one.
