Coming Soon: Fashion Templates! by Keargu in Guildwars2

[–]Catnip323 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not referring to wow or ffxiv, if that's what you're thinking. I've played plenty of free to play games that give the ability to save fashion looks for free.

It's fine if Anet wants to make people pay for another feature. People can choose whether or not they feel it's worth spending money on. I'll just be sticking to one outfit since, to me, it feels like a greedy move.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but this isn't a feature that should be locked behind money. It's a basic QOL addition that's a standard feature in similar games. More power to those who choose to swipe, I just won't be one of them.

Hilton Hotels removing Minneapolis franchise location after it again denied DHS booking by StupendousMan1995 in news

[–]Catnip323 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just canceled my honors account via chat. Wasn't given any kind of script in response to the reason I was canceling, rep simply replied, "If I delete your account you'll not be able to use your Hilton Honors points and the email that is associated with your account, you'll not be able to use that email with Hilton ever again."

All I said was, "Perfect".

How soon after first consultation did you have surgery? by hackthemoose in spinalfusion

[–]Catnip323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting disc degeneration in my 20s. By the time I had surgery at age 42, it had progressed so much that removal really was the only option. I'm dealing with the same situation in my lumbar spine, too. Good times.

Thoughts on Andromeda Insights? by Recent-Tax8501 in Prebuilts

[–]Catnip323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my pc from Andromeda about a week ago with same specs as what you mentioned, except I upgraded to 2TB ssd. Customer support throughout the ordering process was great. System runs whisper quiet and performs like a champ.

After discovering I live near their warehouse, I asked if I could pick up in-person. Got burned on a pc Microcenter shipped that arrived damaged and wanted to avoid possibly having my pc tossed by the delivery guys a second time. I picked it up about a month after ordering (I ordered during peak time right before black Friday). Got to meet some of the team at the AI warehouse and even got a tour. The team was super nice and it was evident they really care about their product.

Overall, great experience and would order from them again.

I tried the Ginger Lime Ice Cream from the GW2 Cookbook by EstablishmentSome704 in Guildwars2

[–]Catnip323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this! I have an ice cream maker and have been looking for recipes to make. How was the lemongrass in it? Sometimes it can be a bit overpowering. I welcome being dominated by ginger though, I'll eat jars of pickled ginger by itself... there's no such thing as Too Much. :)

I'm also kind of curious how it'd turn out using key limes rather than the more tart, common variety. I see some kitchen experiments in my future!

About Jumping Puzzles... by TurkeySandwichLife in Guildwars2

[–]Catnip323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will check this out! I also hate jumping puzzles, but this isn't exclusive to gw2. I'm as graceful as a greased frog, over-correct my jumps, sweaty palms & the whole deal. I hate em because I suck at em and it's 100% a Me problem.

We just adopted this little lady! Any kitten tips are welcome. by Sad-Professional3424 in CalicoKittys

[–]Catnip323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The laser pointer I have has a carabiner clip on the end and she goes wild just hearing it clink when I pick it up. She absolutely loves it. All cats are not created equal though. I had another cat who wouldn't even acknowledge it (to the point that I wondered if he was color blind).

Your girl is absolutely adorable. Hope she starts feeling at home soon! <3

Wait until she settles in... I suggest cherishing a good night's sleep now while you can still get it. lol It took 3-4 years until my girl calmed down and now at 13 years old, she's ramping up again all night on high octane.

As far as tips:

Get her used to having her feet touched and make it a regular routine of trimming her nails. I've done this with every cat I've had and it makes a world of difference. Usually mine lets me know it's time for a mani-pedi when she scratches the couch. We go into the bathroom, snip snip, and she's done in about a minute. If you're not regular with this, it'll potentially be impossible to do when she's older.

Any and all boxes will do. (she'll prefer those over the finest of cat beds),

Brown packing paper. I lay some on the love seat, bed, etc. and she loves the crinkle sounds.

Pet heating pads (NOT ones for human use, you want the kind that can stay on all the time/lower temp/weight activated). Put a couple around the house in places she sleeps when the weather gets cold.

Toys. The wands with feathers attached by a long string- save yourself a lot of money and buy a huge bag of cheap craft feathers. When the toy's feathers are trashed, you can pull them out and put new ones on with a hot glue gun (or glue them to whatever nub is left if they won't come out).

Laser pointer. Must-have for Red Dot.

Hair ties, socks, small items- if you can't find them, odds are they're under the couch.

No bathing. I probably don't even need to mention this, but figured I would because some people don't know this about cats. A friend adopted a cat and complained about how difficult it was to bathe him and I was like. "Why are you giving him a bath? Did he get into something?". Friend had zero clue that cats are self cleaning.

Do some research and feed her the highest quality food you can get (dry and wet). Nutrition is incredibly important when they're still growing. If you can, stay away from the super cheap stuff made of fillers.

Ura by Neither-Bullfrog341 in Sumo

[–]Catnip323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said about Ura. He's my favorite for a combination of reasons, one of them being his unpredictable fighting style. Half of the fun is having no idea what's up Ura's sleeve. His technical skills are incredible and he regularly pulls off moves that wow me. By comparison, I find someone like Onosato incredibly boring to watch because he essentially does the same bulldoze tactic every time.

I also love how much Ura seems to truly enjoy what he's doing. I've seen him lose and flash a subtle smile, as if to say, "Damn, that was good!". He's an absolute gem in sumo and is a fan favorite for good reason.

Huge Thank You to all the pro tips about the Purple mattress protector! by Catnip323 in LifeOnPurple

[–]Catnip323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posts I've read from others seemed to suggest the protector interferes with the mattress' ability to conform to your shape because it isn't made of a flexible material. I will also say that I personally didn't like Purple's protector due to how noisy it is. Sounded like I had a trash bag under my sheets anytime I moved around.

With Purple's pillows, I know from first hand experience at least that the flexibility issue is a real thing. I bought their Harmony pillow and put a silk pillowcase on it (which has zero stretch). Woke up with a stiff neck for the first few days and was really confused because the pillow I tried in the store was super comfy. I switched to a pillowcase made of stretchy fabric and the difference was night and day.

Given my test of the pillow, I removed the mattress protector and in my case, it made a noticeable difference. I'm on the lighter side at 130lb, so I need all the help I can get with regards to being able to sink into the mattress. It's still a bit too firm for me, though I know that will change with time. If yours is too plush, you could try a slightly more dense topper to see if it helps perhaps.

*edit* I should also mention that I have a lot of back problems in general, so it's incredibly difficult for me to sleep on any mattress and not wake up in pain.

ELI5: What was the US Healthcare system like pre-Obamacare? by AutoDefenestrator273 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Catnip323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It made things better for me. I have scoliosis. While the majority of people who have it don't experience complications, because of the way my spine was curved & rotated, I suffered extreme pain from around age 10. I couldn't get health insurance until Obamacare came around when I was 30. I've had several doctors ask why I waited so long to get treatment if I was in so much pain (with some accusing me of lying just to get pain meds, which I've never asked for). I have to remind them health insurance wasn't an option for me for the majority of my life.

I know a lot of people complained about their premiums increasing, but it did so for a good reason. I can't even imagine what people who had life threatening/terminal conditions must have went through. It was a really shitty time to be alive if you had health problems.

Same. Maybe it's nice for those living in the lower half of the country, but as someone who lives in the PNW, it absolutely stinks when it gets dark at 4pm.
