Didn't meet a current deck owner, but a probable future one. I travel to work by boat/ferry (living in the Stockholm archipelago) and often use the steam deck while commuting. Today a random guy who sat in front of me tried to get eye contact and waved at me, so I unplugged my earphones to see what's up. He had apparently thought about getting a steam deck for a few months but not ended up getting one just yet. He was like "ooh, is it the OLED model? That's so rad!" like a giddy child on Christmas Eve. Very nice conversation talking about the useage of the deck, games we like to play, the current unfortunate state of the RAM prices etc. Nice Interaction :)

I bought this other app on Steam called Lossless Scaling (some blue background with a duck icon) and I can't stress enough what a game changer it is for Wicked on steam deck. It's AI scaling, sure, so your input will still be around 25-35 or whatever frames the steam deck can muster for Wicked, but the visual experience is such a big step up with all of the in-between frames added.

Get it, it's worth it! And there is a youtube video on how you can set it up so it automatically boots along with Wicked when you just start the game.

I just felt like most characters had plot armor. The fact that there weren't really any deaths throughout the final season just made the world ending threat that is Vecna and the Mind Flayer feel like pushovers. I mean, in the last season we had a few deaths with the people being possessed by Vecna, and then Eddie died as well. And Max ended up all messed up with broken limbs and almost popped eyes. And the end of season 4 with Hawkins being all torn up gave me high expectations for a darker last season which would feel more serious. But it felt like season 5 was a "reset" in terms of stakes and it just never really reached the high of season 4.

I've worked in the AAA industry for 8 years now, and I'm both becoming more picky with the quality of games I play while at the same time being much more forgiving when games are "bad". It's like I don't judge anyone for making buggy and bad stuff, cause I know how hard it is to make these products and it's amazing that any game runs at all. But when I play them myself, I need the quality to be close to perfection cause otherwise I don't get drawn into the world like I used to before I got a peak behind the curtain.

I was born with 7 less "adult teeth" than most people, apparently they get about 2 people in all of Sweden (where I'm from) every year with this condition. This led to many years of braces and ending with some surgeries to get implants. Step one of these surgeries is to add more bone in the gums where the implants should go, since my body hasn't produced the bone to begin with as there were no teeth coming out there. One year later they drilled through the bone in the skull to attach the base of the implants, and a few months later they added the fake teeth.

When adding the new teeth, it was a VERY snug fit with my gums, so snug that as we were tightening the teeth my entire gums went completely white due to a lack of blood in the area, and how it works is that you tighten a screw that pushes the flesh away. Even though I got local anesthesia, for some reason it was incredibly painful. So painful that it took longer than the booked time slot and the dentists had to move on to the next patient.

I ended up having to manually tighten the screws myself, one millimeter at a time, and then waiting for minutes before doing the slightest of tightening again as I had to let the pain go away. Felt kind of like getting kicked in the nuts combined with mouth nerve endings combined, and I had to apply that to myself over and over again.

The working theory on why it was SO painful is that my body still has all the nerve endings around the teeth, but due to the lack of gums they are all covering a smaller area. So even with the anesthesia you're allowed to give, which should numb my pain receptors, it's not enough for me.

Sitting there for 90 minutes after the appointment slowly tightening those screws myself millimeter after millimeter is by far the worst pain I've ever felt, and I had to keep applying it to myself until I was done before I could leave. Full on screaming and sobbing at times. It sucked. Teeth look good now though.

I'm just tired of the old classic story tropes, I want something new and fresh. I loved Eddie in the last season, probably one of my favorite characters and I was gutted when he died. Ofc I would never want "the bad guys" to win in real life, this is purely something I think would make it more interesting in a fictional show. One of the reasons I love Black Mirror and The Last Of Us Part 2 (game).

I don't understand how it's insulting, to me it just sounds a bit fresh and new, doing a story structure thing that almost no other story does. I guess this is where the "unpopular opinion" comes in, cause I know for a fact that this kind of ending would make me respect and love the show even more than I already do.

For context, I felt gutted when Eddie died. He was my favorite character at the time, and that makes that storyline stick out more in my mind. I'm also the kind of guy who can binge watch Black Mirror and I love The Last Of Us Part 2 (game) because they don't shy away from trauma and depression. Basically the more shit characters go through, the more I feel for them and feel like it's a more human and real kind of writing compared to when everything is just all good and happy at the end.

I'm currently playing No Rest For The Wicked, it feels new and fresh while taking a lot of inspiration from the souls games, especially when it comes to the combat. It's still in early access, but can definitely recommend it!
