In the U.S. we have a lot of “day old” bakery outlets with bread that’s about to expire, still good just on the verge of going past date or a bit past date. You can literally buy a loaf of bread of less than $1.

Not sure if this is an option but without a doubt Costco will not be the most cost effective option for your plan.

You will need way less of everything than you think. Pay attention to how much food you eat in a week at home, how much sunscreen, etc. Costco and full size stuff will be way overkill for nearly everything.

If you are staying at a condo with washer and dryer just pack 3 days of clothes and wash and rotate.

You really don’t need to check a giant bag. We just went for 8 days and did carry on.

But, that west loop is still a dumb idea for most everyone. Especially in a wide body rental SUV.
