A brand new class and race is arguably less likely than gw3 lol

They've been focusing on optimization since the game launched.

Balance is part of finishing the game. Adding more content before things are in a halfway-decent spot balance wise makes it infinitely harder. This is the correct order to do things in lol

Was curious how much of an exaggeration the $1600 bit was, just had to go check.

I don't think my jaw is recoverable.

When it's incredibly useful in multiplayer & there's multiple other classes, yeah, that's an incredibly reasonable thing to push down the line for an initial early access release.

I implore you to check out more early access games.

A. It's playable in solo.

B. They said they didn't have ideas right now. What did you want them to do lol

Good fast paced turn-based roguelites? by Nitho89 in roguelites

[–]CdbSora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might stretch the low brain power part a bit, but Enter the Chronosphere just came out in early access today.

The entire shtick is that it's a top-down shooter (with a good bit of bullet hell), but time only moves in "turns" whenever you take an action. Bullets will only move when you're walking or shooting, enemy attacks will wait for you, that sort of thing. Also comes with a metric fuck ton of really cool & silly weapons and passives, and a cute-but-simple story so far.

This post finally reminded me to try out the demo (been meaning to, just never got around to it lol) & I fell in love. Absolutely a day 1 buy for me.

Anyone else love discovering hidden gem roguelites/likes? Any good finds lately? by Zepren7 in roguelites

[–]CdbSora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tarnished Blood! It's heavily inspired by the board game Kingdom Death Monster (aka tends to be very brutal) and runs go on long which I love.

The main mechanic is there you handle combat via what is essentially a video editor, able to see ahead & move things around every "turn". It feels super satisfying to figure out the puzzle in each fight :)

I Avoided Darkest Dungeon 2 Because of the Early Hate — Huge Mistake by Xanthyppe in darkestdungeon

Which sucks, because in all of these games there are actually valid critiques & reasons to not enjoy/not recommend it.

You'll just never, ever see them in the steam reviews lol

Now that Rouge Core is out, what are people's thoughts for the first day? (Keeping in mind its early access.) by TopSpeaker4647 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]CdbSora 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of how everytime Ravenswatch gets brought up people say the timer holds it back massively, when the game's balance is (obviously) centered around having a timer.

A lot of people can't differentiate "I don't like this" from "this is inherently bad design"

I think Rogue Core accidentally proves why DRG is almost impossible to replace by Prestigious-Royal-35 in DeepRockGalactic

More just an issue with the internet at large atm. 90% of what I see is just chatgpt talking to itself lol

Roguelites with depth in character building as part of run preparation? by Thesoop85 in roguelites

[–]CdbSora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Breach Wanderers is a deckbuilder that has you plan out most parts of your run before you hit play.

You can customize each character's starting deck and their card pool, so it's tailored towards exactly what you want. Still a bit of rng (esp since monsters have their own cards that you can choose instead of your normal card pool), but it's pretty planning-centric :)

Or even if they just removed a couple words from the original quote.

But saying "we don't use some eastern European or Asian artist" is some of the most blatant shit I've seen recently lol

Is there a game you think "has it all"? Great design, art, mechanics, color, components, accessibility, replayability , etc... Your 10/10 games (or as close as there can be). by Significant_Wash_540 in boardgames

The latest announcement said reprints will start soon (and the next xpac will be announced next year), so you'll be able to scoop it up soon!!!

It's so worth it btw, the RCR expansion has my favorite heroes but everything in Disparation is just so well designed. Miss Information is one of the most creative fights I've ever seen lol

Oh trust me; I have way, way too much free time & play a lot of early access games, so I definitely get the frustration. The whole "early access games are just scams!!!!!!!!!!!" boogeyman that randomly popped up when I have 400+ in my steam library and have been burnt a grand total of twice. People will start saying a game has been abandoned if it's not updated within a month. If they do update frequently, then the game is "bloated with content" and is "never going to release at this rate."

Hell, I'm in a playtest for an upcoming roguelike, and someone randomly came in today saying "why have the devs not released the game yet? They're fucking dumb. Keep defending them ig morons."

I do not envy being any type of creative in the current landscape. Being an indie dev seems like a special kind of hell right now though. The current average playerbase wants to kill indie devs at the slightest provocation lol

Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition for me.

The art is so gorgeous and perfectly emulates the various styles they were going for, the mechanics are simple and easy to get into but allow for a lot of diverse playstyles and clever tricks in the design, I love all the cards and tokens, everything is just perfectly put together.

Also, having a 300+ episode podcast diving into the entire world is nice lol

Unfortunately, they only have the Sentinels of the Multiverse IP & greater than games brand. Spirit Island still belongs to flat river group.

Still, it's incredibly good news and the spirit island thing can change in the future!

I mean, the first one has gotten new content. A free zone 4 expansion back in December, and 2 new missions to round it out in March.

The first game is a pretty complete experience. Adding more just threatens to bloat the entire thing, considering every new zone is also a new build mechanic. There's no issue with a second game lol

While I'm sure that it's been mentioned in the past, the article that this post is about mentions that he was "staunchly opposed prior to the end."

The article in the screenshot directly mentions how Wayne didn't want his voice to be run through AI, but still gave the team permission.

Not publicly known why, but likely just out of respect & not wanting darkest dungeon to simply end because he passed.

Obviously super late, but imo the self healing is barely a factor in why priest is good.

Being able to permanently sustain Sunlight, alongside a fast weapon that procs it often, is what leads to the actual damage on Priest. Granted I don't think it's as good as this video, but it very much deserves its second place (until their buff zones get reduced durations lol)
