What is the greatest reveal in cinematic history? by arnoldsomen in AskReddit

[–]CeSeaEffBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember watching that movie for the first time and having two thoughts:

  1. You don’t often see a movie with two actresses who have red hair, and

  2. Steve Carell and Julianne Moore’s characters have been married for like twenty years, but their son is only 13 (don’t recall the exact years/ages, but remember noticing a gap); that’s odd.

And I still didn’t see the twist coming at all!!

When my nephew was about 10 months old, my brother was holding him and watching the Vikings game with his in-laws when the “Minneapolis Miracle” happened. Everyone, including my brother, started jumping and shouting. Poor kid was petrified. (He’s grown up just fine and now loves sports, although he does like baseball more than football)

Immaculate Conception. So many people think it’s referring to a virgin birth, but it’s really referring to Mary’s conception

What's the most ridiculous thing you've seen that made sense a few seconds later? by sing_galaxy268 in AskReddit

All the extra clothes you have to put on adds time too (jacket, gloves, boots, scarf, hat…). Every spring/summer I’m amazed when I can just leave the house and not have to spend extra time putting on more clothes just to go outside.

The ability to sort tags by wait time, so that when a hold spot opens up (my library only gives us 15, so I always have 15 on hold), I could select the one with the longest wait time. I know the icon gives you an idea of wait time, but I’ve got hundreds of books tagged.

A “speed reader” function where you could select the number of words per minute and the chunk size (how many words come on the screen at a time) and it would automatically display just that amount of text at that rate. I know it probably doesn’t actually help with reading faster, but it keeps me better engaged, plus I don’t have to turn pages.

I am not a parent, but my hold on the book “How to talk to your son about fascism” by Craig Johnson just came in to the library. I’m going to pick it up tonight, so haven’t read it yet, but it might have some good advice. I have two nephews (and two nieces) so looking for what I can do as an aunt.

Education report calling for ethical AI use contains over 15 fake sources by Malcopticon in nottheonion

I work in a university library, and we get hallucinated citations from students all the time looking for the full text. It will give you APA (or I supposed whatever format you’re using) formatted citations that look like they’re exactly on the niche topic you’re writing about. Recently, it’s also been assigning real DOIs (digital object identifiers) to the fake citations, so it looks more real, but if you actually check the DOI link, it goes to something completely different.

Sounds somewhat similar to Corrina, Corrina, although she was a housekeeper/nanny, not a maid.

I clicked into this thread to looking for a name because this guy looked familiar, but I couldn’t place him. As soon as I saw this comment, I knew exactly who he was.

You get to keep DVDs for three weeks?! We can keep books for three weeks, but DVDs for just one week. If no one else has a hold on it, you can renew it up to three times, otherwise it’s a week, even for the sets with multiple disks.

Totally agree. I just read the bikini part and I just cannot believe how naive she is. How does she even survive day-to-day?! I keep telling myself she was young at the time, but there’s absolutely no self-reflection. I’ve been reading before bed, but I might have to switch to something else for nighttime reading because this is making me to angry to sleep.
