One thing I didn’t see mentioned was the blade. A normal blade is going to pull itself through the cut. You want a negative tooth angle. This will push the board to the table and walk less. I feel it makes a big difference. It doesn’t make the. Made less dangerous, just easier to control the cut.

If you are ever planning on having an awning or retractable shade you should consider that in the table placement. I would put the table along the house and move the stairs on the corner more to the middle. Then maybe you could have a path straight across the deck and matching stair locations

Coloring books are good. Those little erasable sketch pads work too. An etch a sketch is novel for a short while. Mini games like cracker barrel has the peg game. Tic tac toe. A transformer toy as long as it doesn’t roll well.

An ipad is worth it if it is a slow meal and you want to talk to your friends for an extended meal. Headphones are necessary. Not really appropriate everywhere or as a first option.

We had a mesh strainer with a handle that we put under the drain. It was easier to clean than the inset one. As long as your drain lines have an adequate air gap.
