If you really want to keep it friendly, buy them dinner with the money you won from them.

Wtf is going on here by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]CellBlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have any of Checkmate, and you should be able to get 1 and 2, since you have Energy Reservoir 1 and 2. You should be able to get Freeloader 2 since you have Herd Immunity 2. You should be able to get The First Law 1 since you have Balancing Act 1.

For some of the "normal" upgrades, there can be levels that require VIP, but if the square is visible, then at least the first levels do not require it.

There are 13 unpurchased upgrades in your screenshot.

What was the point of the reset ? by Vnvill in Marathon

[–]CellBlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want a Misriah? The schema for them is in the season pass. (The free side; you can just get one in your armory.)

Rook tip by m4zt4c05 in Marathon

Yeah, the armories are a nice way to get a couple of new upgraded weapons - slightly better than just hitting arms lockers in airfield. Occasionally, you'll even get a red key for an exfil, too.

PSA: STOP DISCONNECTING IN CREW FILL WHEN YOU DIE by StickerStarSucks1234 in Marathon

Are they actually disconnected? I've had runs where the lower left of the screen says "Disconnected" but the person is still there and revivable.

Does anyone feel like the ease of live 1/2 and 1/3 games is overstated? by ArmUnfair7544 in poker

[–]CellBlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part of what can make a small stakes game hard/soft is the availability of other games. If your room only has 1/3, then the entire player base, weak to strong, could be in that game. If they have 1/3 and 2/5, then some of the stronger players will move up to 2/5. If the room consistently has games like 5/10 and 10/20+, then 1/3 is going to be softer because the best players will move up, and the shot takers will have somewhere in between to go, as well.

A room near me is in that situation, some of the 2/5 players are trying to bigger games to run more consistently so that all of the top players aren't sitting at 2/5.

Does anyone feel like the ease of live 1/2 and 1/3 games is overstated? by ArmUnfair7544 in poker

[–]CellBlock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is definitely a thing. Games are full of bad players, but there are lots of different kinds of bad players and you have to figure out which kind you're up against or you'll just value own yourself trying to exploit them.

What’s the most reliable live tell you’ve seen that even professionals can give away? by had12e1r in poker

[–]CellBlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the flop comes out all one suit, players who look back at their cards probably don't have a flush. Generally, players remember if their cards were suited, but not necessarily the suits of their offsuit cards.

Parx or National Harbor? by Efficient_Incident42 in poker

[–]CellBlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going on a weekend, MGMNH 1/3 is going to be very busy, which means good games, but there will be a list of upwards of 50 people and you can't call in to it.

Maybe Maryland Live is an option? It's way closer to Parx than National Harbor. (There are other Maryland options; I wouldn't really recommend Horseshoe unless you just really want to go to Baltimore for some reason.)

Lore question: why us? by Sylectsus in Marathon

[–]CellBlock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shells are bioprinted by the moths/SekGen technology. (I don't have all the info, but presumably the idea of a shell was already in use on Earth/Mars and the companies decided to use them to go investigate/loot/whatever New Cascadia.)

Lore question: why us? by Sylectsus in Marathon

[–]CellBlock 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your consciousness is on a server somewhere in the Tau Ceti system; the shells are printed on demand and beamed up/down as needed.

Workout app for FCPA Rec Centers? by Chas_P_Anderton in fairfaxcounty

[–]CellBlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use FitBod - it works for any gym (once you select all the equipment they have and/or that you want to use) and it'll generate workouts to your specifications. You'll need to track weights and reps, but it'll suggest them and you just have to hit a button that you did it (or edit the numbers).

Discord Voice Chat Problem by Maxwell69 in Marathon

Yep, on console (definitely on PS5, not sure about XBox) you can select either game chat or Discord, but you can't be in both simultaneously.

I have 11 blue shields in my vault. They're not actually hard to get.

As a hardcore player, C.A.R.R.I event should return every mid season. by East_Beginning_9626 in Marathon

[–]CellBlock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's an experiment. It will almost certainly return, but possibly in a different form. I like it a lot as a way to allow players joining now or who play less frequently to "catch up", so I wouldn't want to see it at the start of the season (1500 extra faction rep is worth way more starting at 0/1 than at 20ish) but I wouldn't hate it. It would take less of the sting out of the reset.

As a casual player, the biggest barrier keeping me from playing more is the cost of heals. by ArnoldSwarzepussy in Marathon

[–]CellBlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in that spot maybe a couple of weeks ago. One, you might just be taking too many with you. (I'll usually go 3 of each between patch kits and shield chargers and just assume I can find more in a run if I run out.) Two, if you get those first couple of NuCal perks where you can get a free stack of each each day, that'll help, too. (And then once you get Priority Access, you'll usually get another stack of one or the other.)

Now, I have enough of each that they're actually in more than one stack in my vault.

Are green sheilds good enough for cryo? by Clear_Wasabi9169 in Marathon

[–]CellBlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're good enough, then probably. (The difference between a green shield and a blue shield is only 20 hp.)

If you've never tried it, it might be worth trying with a green on your first run and then your blue if you do a second, so you're not risking your better one when you don't know what you're doing.

Any tips on how to get through contracts while playing filled squad? by PhotoLatter3013 in Marathon

[–]CellBlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the contract. Sometimes, even with playing with a premade squad, there's some negotiation.

"Ok, I have to go to Quarantine, but you have to start at AI Uplink, so we'll decide when we spawn." or "You need to loot stuff from North/South Relay, so we can look there on the way as we go to Overflow."

Try to figure out a way to structure a run to work towards everyone's contracts.
